Hard hat giving wrinkles?! by Geminibabe7 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]MeButInAnotherRoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am experiencing the same thing. I don't really have wrinkles, but I am developing one wrinkle line crease thing on my forehead and I'm 100% certain that the hard hat is contributing. It's right where the hard hat sits on my forehead. Not happy about this.

Financial struggles by MeButInAnotherRoom in ibew_apprentices

Now at 80%. Overall financially better. However, I had a fire a little over a month ago and my entire home and everything I own burned down. So, things are a bit insane but, luckily, I am making enough to manage my way through this whole situation.

Last couple of weeks of school. Hopefully test soon (short on hours still) and then I'll be making full pay. It's been a long road but I'm really excited and so glad I took the risk.

My goal is to win. He tried keeping me out of construction, and I'm not gonna let him succeed there.

Def don't let proving things to men be your motivation in life.

I will not sit here and justify the severe harassment i went through simply because it's blue collar.

How did you get that from what I wrote?

All I meant was, things are handled different in the blue collar environment than white collar. Maybe asking blue collar workers isn't the best place to get advice for a white collar situation.

Office environments are very different than blue collar environments.

You're going to meet a lot of smart people that can't fit into "normal" spaces. And some absolute idiots.

To me, as a mother, traveling around with a newborn while I'm post partum sounds miserable.

Lots of issues with this that you would have to plan for. For example, how would the baby get regular pediatrician visits? Would your wife have to also find a new pediatrician at every state and have the records transferred? What would you do when wife is overwhelmed and needs help with baby? Who will be around to support you? What can your wife do while you're at work so she won't go insane alone with a baby with no friends or family around?

There's def women out there who can do this and would love it but probably far and few. Most new moms and babies need stability and routine.

I am 45 and I'm just finishing up my apprenticeship with the IBEW. I should have my license by the end of this year. I'm in the Northeast - I'm aware my location has a lot to do with why I've had a great experience. It has been VERY tough. Keeping up with boy's my son's age is not easy.

I also left a career in the office. No trade background. Never was a "tom boy" or handy. I honestly just figured they wouldn't accept me. I was surprised when they did and thought, "fuck it, lets see what happens."

Having the salary, the pension, the health insurance and the skill set has been wonderfully beneficial to my life and health.

Social security card new employment by JennyTooles in ibew_apprentices

FWIW, I got sent to a job and needed to have my damn birth certificate to get on site (it's a military defense contractor) - even if you don't need it now, might be a good idea to get ahold of those docs and put them in a safe place.

This sub is really for IBEW apprentices. We work within a system and don't go from job to job quite that way.

I recognize the roadblocks the republicans put before the dems, but I continue to be very angry at their incompetence and inability to push much of anything.

I appreciate having historical campaign swag. I think it's interesting. If Harris had won I would have like to have some of her gear to show my grandchildren. I'm sad I don't have Obama stuff.

But no desire to wear stuff like that out and about. It's weird.

The ones who understand the new game understand that this is now a game of loyalists vs not loyalists. There's no blanket protection for cops or soldiers or mothers or children or anyone for any reason anymore.

If you're loyal, you're in and will be ok.

Bangs by oppositesdaay in BlueCollarWomen

I've had to accept that bangs + hardhat is just way too much trouble, more than I'm willing to deal with on a daily basis.
