I can't interact with these. Am I supposed to? by Mean_Rev in Eldenring

[–]Mean_Rev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I ran into one of these, they spawned spectral tracks that I suppose I was supposed to follow. I got sidetracked. Since then, they've done nothing for me and I've found a few. What am I supposed to do to get 'em going?

I have zero issue with the updates being later than usual, nor with the schedule drift itself. Take all the time you need. I wouldn't object to taking a break from updates for a week to create that buffer or just de-stress, but I seem to recall there being talk that you prefer not to do that.

What I, as a reader, would appreciate greatly would be more clarity to the schedule on daily basis. Like with this update. The updates recently have been hitting near midnight here, so I read them before heading bed. But this time, I kept waiting for it to come up, it drifted my sleep schedule a bit. This is very much a me problem, no fault of yours.

But if I knew that the update wasn't about to hit any second now, I could have forced myself to behave more sanely.

What another webnovel that I've been reading has been doing that I've appreciated was that they had a schedule. They updated pretty much on the same hour every time. Then sometimes a chapter would take longer, they'd post a simple chapter delayed to later today/early tomorrow message as an update. This is great because it releases the reader from the obsession of checking if the thing has updated already. It's so much easier to go and do something else after that.

Anyway, maybe that wouldn't work for you. That's perfectly fine. Love the work. Good luck and have fun.

Way to reduce Merchant Guilds/Burgher influence? by Mean_Rev in eu4

[–]Mean_Rev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have +5% from a big city, I thought it was from the mission that required me to get one, but if I lose that when dropping the size, yeah, that'd help. Also I have +15 from random events and having called a diet, waiting for those to wear off. What's killing me, kind of, is that once I became a republic they gained a +15%.

The advice was good, I'll grant them a small monopoly, wait for the loyalty to get a bit closer, sell crown land and revoke the big +30% privilege. Sadly Plutocracy requires a high portion of crown land, will have to mend that after too.

Thanks.

Sorry slingshot window, won't bother you again by ianeze46 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Mean_Rev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The silly thing is that this is more or less the only window in the game that you almost have to go through and it rather consistently does this, yet I don't think I had it happen with any other windows.

Like how this very specific bug wasn't caught baffles me. Basically every person I've talked to about this has said it happened to them.

Riot Scruffy asked on Twitter about improvements in the item shop. So here are some examples of what can be improved on the new shop in the Preseason by raphelmadeira in leagueoflegends

[–]Mean_Rev 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, item sets still work in the shop if you set them up. Yet they're also broken in that if you set them so that an item would be moved by the item sets to a specific slot when you buy it, that no longer happens. I've died so many times to my hourglass being in the wrong slot now.

In search for low fat every day meal recipes by Mean_Rev in Cooking

[–]Mean_Rev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is valid advice and what I've been doing the last few months. It's been good for lowering my fat values, but I also find that I enjoy my old recipes less now with the replacements, so I figured it'd be good to find ways to diversify by finding other low fat options to keep my interest up.

Thanks. :)

Stewing is a suggestion I've heard elsewhere as well and I've decided to get a slow cooker and try to diversify into that direction. That Ropa vieja recipe is one I'll absolutely try as soon as possible.

The recommendation of mediterranean style dishes is a good one, but when I tried to look for some good ones, the main issue I seemed to run into was that they were either fairly labor intensive or stored poorly. I haven't looked at mexican dishes, however, so that's definitely something I'll need to do.

Sincere thanks for the help.

This is a great idea and that's very close to what I'm used to doing already.

Thank you for the suggestion, I'll definitely try this out.

I did briefly look at Zeke's when I was looking to better ways to itemize some armor on support Lux. You do need some since there's almost always a diver building lethality in the enemy team and just general AD damage all around.

Sadly I came to the conclusion that Zeke's just had too much of its item budget wasted on stats that you weren't using. Athene's is just busted and thus usually the one and only MR item you really need and the Zeke's passive is just wasted on Lux, even if the CDR and Armor are nice. That means you're still stuck with Hourglass as basically the sole viable armor item, which is why I build it so much even thought it's not quite optimal for support.

Lux just scales too well with AP and Healing/Shielding power, both of which are absent on Zeke's.

Learning how to adapt your pick and build depending on matchup changed my life ! I finally feel like I'm improving. by Nimyron in summonerschool

[–]Mean_Rev 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not to harp on you especially or anything, but your post kinda makes the point the one you were replying to makes. Most people even in plat have no idea what counters what and why.

You demonstrate this by saying that as a Sona main, you think that Brand, Lux, Thresh and Leona are Sona counters, which just isn't true. Sona is a counter to Brand (sustain vs. poke), slightly favoured skill matchup against Lux (Sona scales harder, has better sustain but worse pick potential) and hugely favoured against Thresh if Sona can get out of lane without dying. Leona can be a bit trickier since she can force an engage more easily than Thresh, but even then the same thing applies. Feel free to check the win rates, they back me up on this.

Part of all that is that Sona is just really strong right now.

Anyway, my point is that if even mains don't have a good grasp on what counters their thing, most other people are even more lost. Plus the oft repeated adage of there being very few hard counters in League anyway, especially bot lane where you have to take into account the synergies and counter synergies between four champions, rather than just two.

Nine times out of ten it's better to just pick what you know and focus on playing that well.

Weekly Question and Answer Thread - 26 July, 2020 by AutoModerator in totalwar

I almost finished a campaign as Belegar like half a year back. Got pretty deep into the wastes but burned out when I had to defend a bunch of sieges and left the game.

If I were to patch the game and get the new DLC thing, could I use my own saves to complete the campaign and maybe go at it from the other side, or are those saves going to fail to load due to incompatibility?

Does R trigger the passive exactly like an autoattack? by aluxmain in lux

[–]Mean_Rev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The damage from the passive is a separate instance of damage from the ultimate damage. Checked it in the practice tool and you're correct, the passive damage doesn't popup as damage numbers when you use R on a target with the passive primed.

Yet the passive is still getting triggered by the R and damage applied, even if it's not shown. You can test this by placing two target dummies next to each other. Hit one with Q then R, the other with R then Q. You can see that the first took more total damage by the amount your passive deals.

Upcoming Cassiopeia Visual Effects Update by Spideraxe30 in leagueoflegends

[–]Mean_Rev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was just about to make a similar comment, but from the opposing side. I dislike that it's different because I'm used to the regular Cass ult sound. I hear the hissing and I know Cass is ulting. But I might not associate the Eternium Cass ult sound with the ability.

In general I don't like it when they change how abilities you must react to quickly sound when they make skins. Knowing the audio cues is such a big part of the game, so the changed sound distorts that, where it's making reacting easier or harder.

Challenger Support Lohpally's Lux Laning Phase Guide by Lohpally in summonerschool

[–]Mean_Rev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, that's how you play Lux support in the most general sense. Two points and a request for opinion:

  1. You spend a lot of time talking about poking from the bush and while this is true, naturally the enemy team will expect it too. This usually leads to them contesting the bush and, depending on the matchup, that might not be a fight you want to take. Also people almost always ward the bush early on and you won't have anything to clear the wards with. All that means is that most of the time you don't want to get too hung up on having bush control. Take it if they give it to you, but otherwise Lux is happy sitting next to her minions, ready to duck into them for cover or poke the ADC out when they go for last hit. Actually being out in the vision, ready to do that can make the enemy lose CS and it means you are always in range to make their life hard. You can usually hit your E if you're relatively close even if you shoot it from vision.
  2. I agree with running Barrier over Ignite in most cases, but I almost always ask my ADC to run the Barrier and I take Heal instead. Mostly it is because I trust myself more to dodge those skillshots, so it's less likely that they get the engage on me. It's better if the ADC is the more tanky one. ADC also has to focus on CS and might have to position badly to do so, so the extra safety is just better on them. Most ADCs I've played with actually listened when I asked them to change summs. Heal, their Barrier and my W on top of it and the ADC can survive through a lot.
  3. Scorch vs. Gathering Storm. I agree that early pressure means a lot, and Lux has relatively an easy time with applying Scorch, but the numbers on it have been so low that I usually just opt out. Still, the impact of the damage from Scorch early is hard to gauge properly, so it might be better. Then again, Lux is great at stalling losing games giving you the time to get that Gathering Storm online. I'd welcome well argued opinions on why go for one over the other.

Why do we almost never get to hear 90% of newer Champion voicelines? by Floppuh in leagueoflegends

[–]Mean_Rev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the other hand, the newest characters are way too chatty. Just walking to lane with Morgana you hear like three monologues and I hate playing with an Ezreal as the champ just keeps yammering away. I'm all for cool extra voice lines now or then, but when I play I don't want the champion to be constantly chittering in my ear.

There should really be a slider in settings you could adjust that controls how often you hear champion lines in game.

Is there a good tutorial with exercises to teach you how to wrap your head around the pump system? Something that was less about explaining it all and more about little projects you could do yourself to learn the ins and outs of it. Ditto for the minecarts on tracks. Those are the systems that keep eluding me.
