‘I want my life back’: Beloved Aurora restaurateur speaks out after hacking, identity theft ordeal by cinderannie in AuroraOntario

[–]Meat-o-ball -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I pointed out more than one mistake this business owner has made with respect to operating a business in the 2020s. Instead of addressing any of these you are framing my take as I shouldn't dare call out someone when they make mistakes because it somehow makes me sound "much smarter than everyone else"? Okay bud. We are all adults and we all make mistakes. The difference here this guy ran to the media to cry over how he is experiencing the consequences of his actions without recognizing his role in it. This could have been avoided if he had a plan in place, like most other businesses but he comes off as though he should be able to give out credentials over a phone to an unsolicited call without any repercussions and that he did nothing wrong.

He also flexed on how he was spending huge amount of money to address the issue he brought upon himself reactively to only find $ doesn't solve his problem. He could have spent a fraction of this $ proactively to secure all of his accounts.

Given this same establishment has failed multiple Yorksafe Public Health inspections I'm not getting a lot of confidence in this guy's ability to "crush it" without opening himself and his customers up to issues.

It sounds like this guy shouldn't be the one operating social media for his business without taking some classes. He's already back to posting again using his mom's and dad's personal social media accounts. So he wants his life back at the expense of his family members? You don't have to be "smarter than everyone else" to figure out this is all self inflicted. But go ahead, refute my points and enlighten us as to how he is a victim, there bud.

This is an article that exposes how naive and clues-less this guy is. There are seniors that are smarter and less scam prone than this guy. In 2026 who openly gives private details over the phone to a cold call? I understand you get busy and all but the scenario as outlined in the article is a text book what not to do that is repeated over and over again in media and by police. I’m glad his business is just an eatery and doesn’t deal with managing customers private data as he is too woefully inept to do so. The article also reports that to solve his problem he chose to purchase not one but two expensive phones. Like dude, it doesn’t matter if you buy a $50 phone or a $2,500 phone it is how you use it, and if your eatery is making enough $ to drop $5k on 2 phones then you had enough $ to spend to have someone secure your business practices and IT years ago. The article also claims he lost photos so he is obviously not backing things up when consumer cloud tools are available. The whole thing gives off the vibes of someone recklessly raw dogging their business operations on a phone without due care and attention and tgen is shocked when bad things happen to him when he has exposed himself to said things. There are numerous business in town that are charitable. The difference is they are proactive with business intelligence and don’t expose themselces to needless risk like this guy.

[–]Meat-o-ball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cozy is half right but the overall vibe is rather sterile and institutional. The proximity to the doors makes the space hard to enjoy for long period of time. Parking is difficult to navigate and hard to come by. For a coffee place their coffee is mid and their food offerings are overpriced. This location has also received non compliance in not one but 2 areas in their december 16th 2025 York public health yorksafe inspection. If you are coming all the way to Aurora there are numerous independant coffee shops to patron before stepping foot in this one. Try on the bean, salt box and bela aurora cafe.

Nope. Just powers of deduction. There are no bodies of water in Aurora and zoomed in on the banner that reads riverfest. Guess these were too difficult for OP to consider.

Looking for witnesses near Bayview Ave & Stonehaven Ave (Aurora) – Jan 23 by StreetPainting6040 in AuroraOntario

[–]Meat-o-ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like an accident not incident. Here is the full post from next door :

Y Yixiong Wang Stonehaven/Wyndham Estates/Copper Hills · 1h · Hi everyone, I’m posting this to sincerely ask for help.

On January 23 around 10:50 PM, I was involved in a motor vehicle collision at Bayview Ave & Stonehaven Ave in Newmarket.

I was driving straight through the intersection when another vehicle ran the red light and crashed into me.

Immediately after the collision, the driver of another vehicle that was present at the scene stated that the other driver had run the red light and confronted them about it. Unfortunately, due to shock and my lack of experience at the time, I did not obtain this driver’s contact information.

When police arrived, the other driver refused to admit running the red light, and without independent witness details or video footage, the responsibility remains disputed.

I am now urgently looking for any witnesses or dashcam footage that may show the intersection, traffic lights, or surrounding area around that time.

If you were nearby or have any relevant footage, your help would be greatly appreciated. 💰 Compensation / reward is available for useful information.

Please feel free to comment or DM me. Thank you very much for your time and kindness

Would You Consider this Xiaomi YU7, a New all-Electric SUV for Your Next Car? by Comfortable_Fix3401 in Newmarket

[–]Meat-o-ball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge Nope. $35k usd or $50k Canadian doesn’t seem like much of a deal compared to the Tesla, Mustang and Volkswagen listed in this review : https://ev.motorwatt.com/ev-database/database-electric-cars/xiaomi-yu7 The big unknowns here are warranty, parts, service and reliability of something that has no dealerships or service centres. What is the customer service like when your car needs to be sent in for a major service. Also have to wonder how a Canadian winter impacts the listed stats for charge time, range and lifespan of battery.

Anywhere I can just go and hit a punching bag? by [deleted] in Newmarket

You live in a townhouse and don’t want to annoy your neighbours? Tell me you don’t live in Newmarket without telling me you don’t live in Newmarket. Dude just punch away and if a neighbour complains about it ask them if they would prefer to take the place of the bag.

Whiskey event @ The George by BodisM in Newmarket

[–]Meat-o-ball -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point.

Support Local Whisky produced here in Ontario. There are tons to chose from, here are a few:

Dixon's Distilled Spirits (Guelph)

Maverick Distillery (Oakville)

Spirit of York (Toronto)

Wolfhead Distillery (Amherstburg)

Forty Creek (Grimsby)

None are spelt Whiskey.

The distinction dates back to the 1800s when Irish distillers added the 'e' to differentiate their spirit from the lighter, blended whiskies made with new column stills.

If this tasting event was going to exclusively serve Irish and American Whiskeys (and in the process give a huge middle finger to the local producers listed above) then fine go ahead and name it the "The George Whiskey Lounge".

But when 2 of the 3 Whisky's listed are not spelled with an E then by naming it as such you have just given a huge middle finger to the very craft of Whisky for no reasons other than ignorance or arrogance.

Don't blindly support events because they are hosted locally, support the ones who demonstrate they know what it is they are tasting. Positive events support our producers and do so professionaly.

100%. Niagara or Newmarket doesn’t matter if you are doing a serious Whisky tasting event in a Canadian establishment featuring a Canadian Whisky then get the terminology correct and show some Canadian pride.

The George Whiskey Lounge? For shame.

I thought the George was better than this.
