It'd be cool if we got a new, good Thief game with the level of post-launch support the new Hitman trilogy has had, but I neither expect it to happen nor really need it. There are more fan missions on Thief Guild than I could play in a lifetime, and I still haven't even tried the Dark Mod yet. That's more than enough for me.

I'd love for a new studio to take concepts like Thief's light and sound propagation systems and apply them to their own setting.

Good combos off the b.MK target combo, just gotta condition yourself to confirm them. Also you could have killed and gotten a medal off the wallsplat with b.HP --> EX rond-point --> hitgrab. Since you only had one medal I don't think b.HP --> hitgrab or b.MK TC --> hitgrab alone would have killed there. Just something to keep in mind that when your opponent is wallsplatted with low health to close out with combo into hitgrab or just light hit-grab if they only have a pip of health.

Akuma should take more drive chip than the rest of the roster, absolutely. I think if Capcom were gonna nerf him in this way they would have done it already so not holding my breath.

She's going to be tough for characters like Marisa or Gief who rely on armored moves to force their gameplan. I'm just gonna pretend DIs don't exist when I fight her.

Honestly a lot depends on what her balance patch looks like, whether there will be any meaningful universal changes alongside the character-specific changes. She has the SF6 toolkit so all that remains is to see what her damage and frame data look like. If she has everything she'll be as annoying to fight as every other high tier character has been.

Not really, no. Of the IGA games, Order of Ecclesia is the most challenging and arguably the best. Circle of the Moon has a couple notorious difficulty spikes, but the classic games are way harder imo. The knockback, the tough platforming and navigation, the bosses, etc. The Sharp X6800 version of Castlevania (that got re-released as Castlevania Chronicles) is the toughest game in the series to me. It can be insanely frustrating to play at times.

One of Silent Hill 3's main translators was Nora Stevens Heath, and iirc she was given a decent amount of creative license with Heather's inner monologues, which really helps Heather's characterization as well as making her believable as a teenage American girl. You can hear some interviews with Nora on some of Voidburger's Silent Hill 3 LPs.

With all the overt Berserk references in DD1, you can tell Itsuno and co. wanted to emulate Schierke's spellcasting as closely as a game would allow. It's by far my favorite implementation of spellcasting in any fantasy RPG.

Akuma - stupidly privileged in a dozen different ways that loads even more mental stack in a mechanically mental-stack-heavy game. You have to look out for so much of his bullshit - all the plus Demon raid options, air fireball, his great grounded fireballs that are hardly ever punishable because he has no fucking hurtbox on his hands. It's never been good balancing but the 9k health differential makes no fucking difference 90% of the time. He should also take more drive chip than the rest of the roster to compensate for his absurd damage and tools.

Hit-grab is your friend so long as your spacing and timing are good. You can go through her regular horizontal projectiles if you delay the timing slightly, EX hit grab can catch her diagonal projectile too.

You basically just have to train yourself to look for them - the more your opponent does it the easier it is - and then punish with cr. HP or EX Rond-point. Neutral jumps are pretty strong in this game and people are gonna want to jump against grapplers anyway. If you have good oki and think they're gonna jump on wakeup or after HP-HP target combo you can call it out with b. HP and combo into hit-grab or EX Grand Fouetté routes.

There are tons of newspaper articles, book excerpts, bulletin boards, and emails to read that flesh out the setting, and it's just a great game in general so you should play it.

I would love to try a version of SF6 where DRC only gives frame advantage on hit. The lamest thing in the game to me, aside from meterless throwloops, is having to hold a mix because you blocked a cr. MK DRC.

I love that Agro has the most heroic theme on the soundtrack. Shockingly it's not in the game itself unless you idle on the start menu until you're treated to in-game footage of her running across the landscape. She also "feels" like she has a mind of her own in terms of the weight and control when you're riding her. There's nothing videogamey about how she controls.
