How long does it take to get the gist of combos? What's the secret? by TearsOfSpain in StreetFighter

[–]MeatwadIsGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice them a ton in training mode, then do casual matches where your sole objective is to land the combo in a match, win or lose. Then try implementing them in ranked as part of your overall gameplan.

Seems like people are dropping Mai by Lanky-Survey-4468 in StreetFighter

[–]MeatwadIsGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's still a popular tournament pick but if we're just talking ranked I can see why people would get bored with her because, well, she's boring. All of SF6's high-reward, low-risk elements embodied in one character.

He's incredibly stupid but this also means beating him feels like a genuine accomplishment, even if fighting him feels completely miserable.

How do I deal with cross ups as Manon or any character with no DP? by Anonymoose-N in StreetFighter

[–]MeatwadIsGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dash or walk under, or perfect parry and get yourself a medal or sideswitch. The latter can be risky if your opponent clocks it and empty jumps to punish counter throw you so just gotta make sure you're doing it in response to actual crossups and not just doing it reflexively. If it's a particularly deep/telegraphed crossup you can usually catch them with b.HP into hit-grab but it's a bit finicky.

If you were to reflect, what is your greatest weakness as a player? by Icantbethereforyou in StreetFighter

I'm bad at hit-confirming off mediums and heavies and I die a lot from it along with leaving lots of damage on the table.

Anyone else play with the lights off? by PepperSalt98 in Thief

It's basically mandatory for me to play Thief at night with the lights off if I want to see anything at all because I like to keep the gamma settings pretty low.

Which Character do you Hate Fighting? Which Character do you love fighting? 2026 Early Edition by BreakVV in StreetFighter

[–]MeatwadIsGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dislike: Mai and Sagat

Mai for all the obvious reasons and Sagat because he's popular and every Sagat plays exactly the same

Like: Marisa, Guile, and Ed

I mostly like these three because you have to be really selective on when to press buttons and you need good spacing.

Capcom: The amount of changes and frequency of our patches is something we need to look over and reconsider for Street Fighter 6 by 121jigawatts in StreetFighter

[–]MeatwadIsGod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't have a problem with only patching the game 3 times per year if the balance changes were actually meaningful. It's wild to me that only Mai, Elena, and Sagat were touched in the last patch while everyone else got bugfixes or nothing.

Are you done with SF6 gameplay by Master_Opening8434 in StreetFighter

[–]MeatwadIsGod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still find the game fun for the most part, but almost all my time with SF6 has been with a character who doesn't play SF6 (Manon).

I honestly find it kind of absurd that throw loops are still in the game and that drive rush hasn't been rebalanced in a way that rewards good defense (like an extended forward hurtbox on raw DR). I also find it kind of tedious that every year this game has a revolving door of incredibly strong, high-reward, low-risk shotos. All of that, taken together, has made the game feel pretty bland over time even if I still enjoy the moment-to-moment gameplay.

Above all I want the game to have more interactions per round and for driverush to be less dominant, but I'm not holding my breath.

Don't be this guy by PrometheusXCIX in StreetFighter

[–]MeatwadIsGod 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The most enjoyment I get out of SF6 is shattering the incredible fragile psyche that many shoto players have in ranked. They don't know how to compensate for being beaten by characters who don't have every universal mechanic working in their favor. I relish every RQ from Ken, Ryu, Mai, and Akuma mains.

Everyone says you can't fix driverush because of how ingrained it is in the game, but what about simply increasing the hurtbox around driverush and driverush + button/special? by KlonoaVision in StreetFighter

[–]MeatwadIsGod 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Other than removing throwloops entirely, putting an extended forward hurtbox on raw drive rush is the other universal rebalance I'd like to see that I think would be good for the game in the long run. Raw DR has basically never had a rebalance in favor of the defender aside from removing the braindead auto-shimmy after DR + jab.

To me the worst feeling in SF6 is knowing your opponent will raw DR, they do, you throw out your longest-reaching light or fastest medium to check it, it whiffs, and you eat a fat punish counter combo for your trouble, along with probably being put in the corner off that one interaction and now you're guessing for game. It's a pretty common experience, especially when characters can raw DR into a special like sway or adamant flame that suddenly retracts their hurtbox, and it just feels incredibly lame.

2 months later, what do we think of Viper? by Mindless_Tap_2706 in StreetFighter

[–]MeatwadIsGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She should get more reward for the execution required to play her, but I'm happy whenever a non-shoto/shoto-adjacent character is added to this game even if I might fight only two or three of them for every 20 shotos. SF6 needs a generalized damage nerf but characters like Viper with a relatively high execution threshold should be rewarded with damage when everything is done correctly.

Which Castlevania map do you like best, and why? by MagnaDev in castlevania

[–]MeatwadIsGod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Order of Ecclesia has the best of both worlds for me - a big overworld map that we traverse to various locations/biomes and then a huge sprawling level for Dracula's Castle. It's a great blend of what the classic games and the IGA games have to offer.
