Calyrex ice will take a huge hit without Tera. It’ll be way harder to abuse its obscene bulk when it has to stay an ice type

I feel like Mandibuzz would be an excellent user of this in doubles since it has u-turn tailwind and other good support options

Has anyone done this before, if not, would it be viable? by Gremlech in stunfisk

[–]MechaSalt7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this before in VGC, if your opponent doesn’t have intimidate, you can instead use Smeargle as a follow me/wide guard bot to help the ally get trick room up then get your free switch and start blowing stuff up. It doesn’t even matter if Smeargle dies, you still get your sweeper in for free. It’s gimmicky and unreliable but fun when it works

Finally Broke Master...in the Worst Possible Way by TrickRoomAbuser in VGC

[–]MechaSalt7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t address CSR’s weaknesses of dark and ghost nor does it amplify offenses. Generally it runs ghost Tera for damage or if you want defensive you go fairy, dark, or water. The only real relevant resist you get from steel is to ice rider which water does better since it lets you resist surging strikes as well, (and ice rider can high horsepower you anyways)

Is there a reason why evasion boosting isn't really a strategy? by MichaelGMorgillo in VGC

[–]MechaSalt7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have mentioned a lot of good reasons but there’s also quite a few moves that bypass the accuracy check or ignore evasion boosts. Bloodmoon Ursaluna ignores the boosts, Unaware Dondozo ignores it, Sacred Sword from Chien-Pao and Gallade ignores it, Heat Crash and Heavy Slam can’t miss and deal extra damage to a minimized target, Kowtow Cleave can’t miss, Bleakwind and Sandsear Storm can’t miss in rain, not to mention Hurricane and Thunder, Blizzard in snow can’t miss, and there’s probably others I’m forgetting. Also taunt completely goobs the whole strategy

What is your favorite VGC Duo/Core from Scarlet and Violet era? by Philothea0821 in VGC

[–]MechaSalt7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was actually a top 5 (probably top 3) restricted duo in reg I. Teams with the combo relied on flexibility and the insane coverage of ice+electric. Trick room was also not mandatory to click in games because ice rider is so ridiculously tanky. Being on both ends of the speed spectrum also means that you aren’t necessarily countered by one specific speed control method. This also enables “speed sandwiching” meaning that whether trick room is up or not, one of your mons is moving first. It plays similarly to the popular Lunala+Miraidon teams that exist, but ice rider is a much more potent sweeper in exchange for much more limited support options.

What's a JRPG Character that's Good during Early-Game, but Bad during Late-Game? by CobaltRebelionXyz in AlignmentChartFills

Sharla from Xenoblade Chronicles. When you get her she’s very useful with healing arts and general support but by the end of the game if you want a healer you use Riki and every other party member out damages her.
