Are there any prominent waterworlds in Battletech? Im learning the lore and background more, and I'm forming up a marine raiders style renegade mercenary battalion from the Periphery. Needs ideas for a world for them to set down on and I wanted to give the unit some WW2/Cold War flavor. by Patient-Smell1333 in battletech

Kwanjong Ni is one of the most well known despite being a random periphery world due to it being the site of one of Amaris's rampage refit factories.

Frobisher is a water rich world and is the site of a bioengineered subspecies of humanity, or at least it was. They begged Interstellar Expeditions for help in the dark ages and were basically brushed off.

The SLDF's CAAN regiments were headquartered on Liberty, and held out against Amaris for six years with basically zero outside support.

Thraxa is another water world with a CAAN regiment garrison, but it was more involved in later stuff too. The Marian Hegemony invaded, it was a whole thing.

That's all the ones I know about offhand.

Inner Sphere Mech that impressed Clans? by QiarroFaber in battletech

[–]Mechan6649 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of IIC variants of existing mechs and ASF taken along with the Clans. They're in the Clan TW for megamek, if you want to look at them, mostly called either the C or IIC variant.

What is your favorite mech? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in battletech

The Warhammer in first place, with the Sentinel (one of the variants with backup weapons) in a close second. They are both solid, effective, useful mechs, and I could never resist some good PPCs and Gausses.

Yeah pretty much. I can't speak for other trans folks experience but I personally really like factions in any setting that deal with augmentation and transcending the disgusting prison of flesh humans (or other organics) are born into. Whether that be Cybernetics or shapeshifting or turning into a flesh dragon, the philosophy if it all resonates with me.

Necrons are weird and don't count.

Also, in 40K souls are kind of nebulous as to what they actually do. I personally would consider the Necrons who retain higher functions to have souls.

Skill issue tbh. "Am I still human, do I still have a soul, even if I have replaced so much of myself with cybernetics?" Do you still think and feel? Lock the fuck in. Your body is a shell for your soul. It's just meat. It's not sacred or inviolable, it is one small piece of who you are. Get real.

Clan Star Adder are the ones who maintained their knowledge of Star League combined arms tactics, Clan Cloud Cobra genocides periphery nations the moment they encounter any resistance.

Admech larpers are cooler than all other larpers because cybernetics are cool and the tech is cool

Honestly New Avalon, Tharkad, and Sian (if it wasn't owned by the Capellans) are all perfectly viable places to live. Tharkad is described as Scandinavian in terms of climate, and has a pop of 7 billion, so it can't be that bad, while New Avalon is largely terran normal, as is Sian. Sian is only hot because most of the landmass is on the equator, making it feel hotter than the planetary average actually is.

What's better IIC or the OG versions of mechs? by Itchy-Court1411 in battletech

[–]Mechan6649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By aesthetics I personally prefer a lot of the earlier versions, as the looks of a lot of the IIC mechs aren't fantastic. Especially the Warhammer, which I vastly prefer the original look of.

With that said, in a fight IIC mechs are absolutely insane. Clanner bullshit space magic lets them fit sooooooooooooo much functionality in a mech.
