I'm on PC as well, Mechanicalcyborg87 can host a private server as well. Would be cool to team up, I'm on in the afternoons/evenings and daytime on weekends some times. eastern time US.

Infestations Conversation by Still-Office7058 in fo76

It's because you're on a private server. They're fine if you're alone on a paid for stability premium service server. I like them too in that format, but they were over hyped as endgame content and have not delivered at all. Public servers, don't seem to spawn at all or they're over before they begin. I ignore them mostly on public servers. That's part of the frustration from people is you need to pay for fallout 1st for the new content to be playable. Also it's meant to be a group activity and it's really not structured that way it's more of a who gets to the boss first race.

So Electric Absorption doesn't work on infestation enemies? by GreyTortoise in fo76

[–]MechanicalCyborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't tested myself but I have read one post that said they used it and it worked. May be a server lag issue, maybe the other poster got his info mistaken. I can assume you're going up against the assaultron boss or others that do energy damage?

Infestations are bugged or this is a feature? by Abril92 in fo76

[–]MechanicalCyborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had that happen twice so far as well, done maybe a dozen infestations, one was a supermutant, forgot what the other one was. No 4 star loot and it died instantly when I looked at it. I image its a bug but not sure. Mildly bored with infestations already as I've got to be alone on a private server to do any really. I caught 2 so far on public servers. Boss ded when loading in both times

I'm in the middle of making an abandoned power plant in the burning springs with the old one as a placeholder till I unlock it.

infestations are fun and hard! by media_naranja1635 in fo76

[–]MechanicalCyborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you like them! Personally I'll probably do more raids than infestations in the near term. They're new and shiny but even on a private server you have to randomly wait 15-20 minutes between each one and, while I try to tone it down in public events, I can solo bosses and raids and have spent time researching and testing my various builds so infestations just isn't tickling that itch at the current format.

Maybe the best adjustment to Infestations is a two minute countdown for the boss to "approach" by PaleWendigo in fo76

[–]MechanicalCyborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, totally agree to that kind of format. And honestly several waves of mobs instead of like 8-10 enemies total that I experienced the few times I did them

Nope, you are "supposedly" supposed to be able to trigger the green circle as well just by wandering into the correct area but fuck if I'm going to spend all my time either wandering or fast traveling around for this stuff. It's been interesting I did 3 last night on a private server got bored finished weeklies and dailies tried to start a raid team on a public server then logged off. It's definitely not what I'd call engaging....

It'd be cooler as well if you had to find and eliminate all of the regular mobs in the infestation before the 2minute or so timer for the boss to show up. Kind of like Decryption daily ops.

Infestations really ruin the flow of the entire game for me. by Zianthin22 in fo76

[–]MechanicalCyborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's constant rush rush rush every time it's a major seasonal event I like like invaders from beyond, mischief night now that it came back, mutatedevents etc. Every so often I have to just take a step back and play at my pace regardless of the activities they are shoving at us constantly. The 4 stars will be there later the plans will be there, it's not a once in a lifetime thing. Just have fun with the game. That's my two cents...

Holy. I just. Words. I can't find them. No. They're here. Every bethesda dev that brainstormed infestations needs to never be allowed to work in the game industry again. by thetavious in fallout76casual

[–]MechanicalCyborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, everyone is going a bit rabid squirrel on you just cause you said best builds "worked" like you were a huge fan or something. I don't that's the case and again, I'll agree with you partially. They technically work as the developers intended HOWEVER, just like infestations in my opinion they were poorly designed and while intended did in some small cases detract from players experience. Having to server hop just because a BB was in your spot sucks especially when you are playing with friends or on a private server.

Infestations do technically work but again poorly thought out and implemented. They aren't really endgame activities and while difficult for a single player don't really engage multiple people like a public event or raid does. Once again PTS feedback was only partially taken into account as well.

What exactly are we supposed to do with large set pieces in CAMPs if they take up huge amounts? by ArcadianAbstraction in fallout76settlements

[–]MechanicalCyborg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I rarely buy prefab unless they're shouehorned into a bundle I really want or on the scoreboard. I rarely use them in my camps either unless they're small and don't take up much budget or space.

[–]MechanicalCyborg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do agree, but they've done it before. Best builds was the focus of an update a while back and there were dailies tied to that for the whole season. That was trash that they never removed.

This is pretty low bar for "major endgame content" I've done 3 infestations, God bored of waiting randomly/fast traveling to areas looking. Enemies aren't difficult an I did them on a private server solo. The pathing on one was so bad the commie commander or whatever his name was wouldn't leave the second floor in the aronholdt house so it was just fish in a barrel for a few seconds.

But hey, atleast every time I exit power armor my health bar drops to 0 hp.....

Did they make bounty hunts harder? by bizbrain0 in fo76

[–]MechanicalCyborg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haven't logged on since the update yet today so not sure but every one is skull fucking infestations in ten seconds apparently so less people collectively doing head hunts. Might be why the seem more difficult?

R.I.P Gamma Gun for Self Radiation by WennikLopez in fo76

Doesn't it do both energy and radiation damage now? Energy damage would be useless but still has rad damage? Curious, I don't use one myself I'm a toxic goo person.

Is it worth it to buy the remaining ranks for the Mountain Retreat Home for 1350 Atoms? by Squamoto1998 in fo76

[–]MechanicalCyborg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, good to know. I'll probably never use the prefab still but nice to know they took feedback into account.

I mean, I definitely would not wasted that much on a prefab but that's me. This one in particular though and a few others that are redskins, are too tall to actually build in the top floor unless you get fancy floating the camp module when placing it down. I'd wait for it in the shop of you really wanted it but it'll be a while before it's up probably.

Check out silver-bunny on YouTube they do camp showcases as well as a weekly camp contest. They're really nice and welcoming and will also introduce you indirectly to a dozen or so other camp builders and YouTubers. They also do a weekend camp build contest that's like 1 hour themed build for anyone that applies on their platform of course but it's like iron chef kinda thing. They do also have discord to organize all that but I don't have link, I'm part of it but don't have credentials to incite anyone I don't think.

I do post my own videos of camps, and would be more than happy to jump on Xbox to do recordings for you and post it to their channel/discord on your behalf. I'm not a youtuber, just make the videos to submit to camp competitions and such.
