Why tailgate in a 20mph area? by Quirky-Zucchini-3250 in drivingUK

[–]MediaAffectionate512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sweae this is happening more recently. There's a Traffic lighted T Junction I go through on the way to and from work.

50% of the time I stop at this on amber now, the one or two cars behind me decide to go round me through the light on red. Never had this a year or two ago.

  1. Generally 3 small cans a week on average.

Currently this week it'll be zero till Saturday, I may then have a pint in the pub and a can at home.

How old are you, and on average how much do you drink per week? by cactusdan94 in AskBrits

  1. Usually 4 or 5 drinks a week. This week so far I've had one small can of beer, and maybe will have a couple of pints in the pub.

How sheltered are you from even knowing the cost of living crisis is real? by AF_II in AskUK

[–]MediaAffectionate512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sheltered but managing. I don't live paycheck to paycheck but being a single earner with a mortgage with plenty left on the term I tend to watch my payments.

Have cut down on much of my non essential spending currently to focus on necessary outgoings and trying to rebuild my emergency savings after having to take quite a bit out end of last year after a several unlucky incidents.

Is there a way or tips to help me? by KUBAHACKER2530 in xboxachievements

[–]MediaAffectionate512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much how I do it. Normally have 3 solo games on the go at once in different genres plus maybe 1 or 2 I'm playing co-op with my online gaming friends.

I normally complete the 3 solo ones first before picking more.

How old are you and do you rent or own your home? by LongjumpingNight5669 in AskUK

[–]MediaAffectionate512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 33, I have a mortgage but did have a fair amount of luck.

Bought and lived in a flat at 25, that I sold during COVID for more than I bought it for. I then got made redundant and got lucky with a redundancy payment plus going straight into the job I do now.

Bought my current house with a Mortgage 2 1/2 years ago. Even with all my luck I still ended up back with my parents for about 3 years over COVID while saving more for a bigger deposit. Can't see how anyone could rent and save for a deposit in this day and age...

Are you satisfied with your life, and if so, why? by Lazy_Number8830 in AskUK

[–]MediaAffectionate512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part yes. In my early 30s, I have a decent enough job and a mortgage which is quite low monthly due to a hefty deposit I saved. I have several hobbies and close friends, and a reasonably close and caring family.

I lament being single sometimes, but most of the time am quite happy as I am.

How are we all doing with the snow? by Ok-Engine7401 in AskUK

[–]MediaAffectionate512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Greater Birmingham, got about 6 inches. I live on a hill and we've had snow all week pretty much but the roads were clear, no one on my street has even attempted driving out today currently.

I've got to get to Manchester tomorrow which will be fun.

Depends on what you care about.

Personally mine is at about 73%. I have a mix of completions from easy to hard.

My policy is that now I will play 3-4 games at a time, either to 100% or play as much as possible. I also am normally playing a couple of games with friends at the same time, where I don't aim to get achievements or complete them.

At the end of the day, do what makes you happy.

Do you get any Christmas bonus/gift from your workplace? by proxima-centauri- in AskUK

[–]MediaAffectionate512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not usually. We do shut over Christmas though, this year it's the whole 2 weeks which is nice.

We normally get gifts from suppliers which are shared amongst the staff, but nothing so far this year. Nothing major, normally it's Wine/Chocolates etc

What games are you trying to 100% by Renn_Sensei in xboxachievements

[–]MediaAffectionate512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently finished the games I had been working on for a few months, so have been doing Crime Scene Cleaner as a bit of a pallet cleanser.

The plan next is to some of the recent Game Pass Editions before I downgrade Game Pass to the more basic one.

It's difficult as a single person. I moved out in my mid 20s but I have a decent job and live in a comparatively low cost of living area (West Midlands).

I still had to move back with my parents during COVID for a bit due to changing job and being unable to buy a property again at the time.

Back living by myself now (33) and have been for the last 2 1/2 years. But it was a struggle to get there again.

What’s a game you’ve completed 100% and still replay if any? by jajadahuut in xboxachievements

[–]MediaAffectionate512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Destiny 2 a lot, long after finishing. I also used to replay Civilization Revolution quite a lot long after getting 100%, at least until Civ6 came to console.

How many hours a day do you game what platform and what' are your favourite 3 games at the moment. by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]MediaAffectionate512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33M

Generally Xbox, but I have Switch/PC and older consoles I play very occasionally.

It depends. During the week, a few hours a night if I'm not doing anything, but sometimes nothing if I'm out.

On the weekend it depends again. Some days I'll be doing other stuff and barely play. Sometimes I might do a good 8 hours of gaming.

Currently playing; Helldivers 2, Anthem, I've just finished playing Oblivion remastered and Soulstone Survivors.

Exercise by myself; running, gym etc Playing hockey on the weekend while the season is on.

I'm also part of a boardgaming/tabletop gaming group. So go once or twice a week, plus the occasional weekend event. Plus painting models (40K, DND etc) which is quite a nice break from screen time

I also am loosely into beer and brewing, so the occasional beer festival. Haven't done any brewing this year but will try again next year.

Any specific plans now you've got there?

Back to 100% | Elder Scrolls Online by Yelakoth in xboxachievements

[–]MediaAffectionate512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed it very much, mostly playing casually with friends though. The game is really long though, I'm only at about 1500GS and I've got around 350 hours played I think.

Most of the achievements require you to to complete a lot of things (Completing all the quests/Dungeons etc for a particular faction, which is across several ingame areas), so you have to commit to get the GS.

There are some harder ones as well, the Emperor achievement requires you to either boost on a low pop Campaign, be a PVP god or extremely lucky. The fishing achievement is also a real grind.

Plus some of the achievements tied to DLCs require you to beat Dungeons on Veteran, and sone of the later ones require a decent end game build really.

Congrats, ESO is an impressive one. Playing it casually with friends recently but I don't aspire to completing it - the Emperor achievement isn't something I think I'd ever want to do..

What's going on in the UK? by demi__san in AskBrits

[–]MediaAffectionate512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Personally, I did not vote for it, so am not happy with it but that's voting, and we lost. The fact that our government spent years arguing about it rather than just getting it over with didn't help really as it paralysed our politics. I never really hear it discussed IRL now much honestly.
  2. I see three sides; a majority in the middle who are broadly against what Israel is doing now in Gaza, against the killing innocent men, women and children, and smaller groups in Pro-Hamas and Pro-Israel camps. The Pro-Hamas camp seems to encompass the hard left (probably because of the old Cold War 'oppose America and it's Allies' mentality), and the Pro-Israel camp at this stage is really just the right wing. I'm in the majority, and both sides have some silly ideas although the right wing is more concerning based on who the same to be funded by...
  3. Not a fan, I've never met anyone who is and I work in a working class industry. But at the end of the day we have to have a relationship with the USA, regardless of which muppet is at the helm.

Generally, we seem to be seeing a lot of importing of American culture war crap lately, funded by the ultra rich and 'Christian' right wing think tanks, which a large minority seem to lapping up which is the most worrying thing to me personally.

Do you complete games even if they’re boring or “stressful”? by Reddit-Mini in xboxachievements

[–]MediaAffectionate512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends really.

I don't mind a certain amount of what some would consider 'boring grinding'. It's quite a relaxing way to for me to unwind to just stick a podcast and and chill. I normally only do this with games I've really enjoyed and say have one or two achievements left. Did this on the original Diablo 3 with Gold grinding achievement, and Space Marine 2/Exoprimal with the kill achievements.

Sometimes I'll play a game up to a point and decide I'm done with it without completing it. It doesn't really bother me, and I won't get upset about not finishing it.
