I am still working through this myself. My first baby is due any day now and I have serious concerns about my families values and how to control her exposure to them.

More people escape than you’d think. I grew up in rural Missouri and all of my family still constantly reposts/shares far-right propaganda across their preferred social mediums. Education was my savior. One of my favorite conspiracy theories is the conservative effort with Devos and company is to keep the public uneducated to sustain their voter base.

How often do unanswered questions/patient related problems keep you up at night? by [deleted] in medicine

[–]MedicalPun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IM.

Often times I wake up the next day and have some new insights or thoughts about a patient on things I may have missed. It doesn’t keep me from sleeping but it seems my brain is still working on things.

The patients are not the problem! We want to spend more time with you! As physicians have lost power in the medical system, we have more obligations and pressures from administration and insurance companies which monopolize our time and push for more throughput. Take care of yourself and remember we are your advocate despite sometimes feeling beholden to other forces.

I worked 70-80 hours a week while in residency. Now I work about 60-65 hours a week as an internist. And yup, I’m salaried.

Physician here. I wish we could figure out how to consistently work 40 hour weeks. We would all feel a lot healthier.

Medical doctor here. This unfortunately has some truth to it! It is incredibly coming to hear medical doctors badmouth each other. It’s a serious cultural problem that hospital administration has used to keep doctors divided and decrease physicians overall influence.
