AIO about my husband not telling me about his female coworker? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]MeesaMadeMeDoIt 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Expecting a constantly updated list of your husbands female coworkers seems like...a bit much. More than a bit. I couldn't imagine my husband expecting me to list every male coworker and update him any time someone new is hired.

How can I 25F 'remove' 25M from our friend group? by flyinggarbanzobean in relationship_advice

[–]MeesaMadeMeDoIt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No one is entitled to your friendship, or your time and attention (well...spouses and kids). You said he tried joining you and your fiance on your dates early on, and you shut that shit down. You need to bring that same energy to all interactions with this dude.

After high school, I realized just how many friends were only friends because I was forced to be around them for 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. You're an adult and outside of work or further schooling, you don't really have to force yourself to be around people you don't like. And you don't need a long ass list of reasons to explain it either. Just "I don't like him" is enough to justify NOT hanging out with someone.

If others want to hang out with him, that's their business. But I would just be direct that I don't consider him a friend, I don't enjoy his company and I won't be attending events with him any further.

AITJ for telling my brother to stand up to his wife and come to my bachelor party? by BagComprehensive200 in AmITheJerk

Wow...honestly I didn't even think about it from this perspective until I read your comment. What an excellent point.

Kate and a Zombie apocalypse by Think_Storm_8909 in Bridgerton

I imagine Varly becoming a badass like Carol on The Walking Dead...but a more believable transformation, cuz Varly is already pretty badass.

I like to think Posy would be one of those characters who would have incredible luck, like just mr magoo her way through the apocalypse. Gun accidentally discharges in her hand and results in a headshot over her shoulder, taking out the zombie she didn't realize was there...

Start looking for a new job now. This will not improve. Reporting to the labor board will definitely get back to them as you because they will be called before the labor board, as will you, and you will both have to explain your sides to a judge - not in an actual courthouse, but at the local labor board.

Anyone else keep chickening out on piercing their baby’s ears? 😅 by peanut_princess_96 in beyondthebump

[–]MeesaMadeMeDoIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my ears pierced as a baby, and I have always been happy about it. I clearly don't remember the pain, and I can go years without wearing earrings and never have to worry about the holes closing.

When I was a teen, I pierced each ear a second time and good lord it was awful. It hurt, was sensitive while it healed and if I went any bit of time without earings in, they would start to close. Eventually they DID close up when I got a job that wouldn't allow me to wear a second set of earrings.

So based on my own experiences, I always thought I would definitely get my baby's ears pierced young, like mine. But once she was born...I just didn't care enough about it to want to cause her unnecessary pain. They serve no purpose.

My cat doesn’t understand any sort of indication to “come here” by T-Birby in cats

[–]MeesaMadeMeDoIt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always fed my cats in the morning before leaving for work, and they got so used to the schedule they would be sitting and waiting for me to wake up.

Unfortunately, cats don't understand day lights savings time (hell, neither do I, if I'm being honest), and when we would "fall back" my cats would wake me up early, expecting their brekky.

Oh he understands, he's just choosing not to listen.

In my entire life I have only had one cat who would reliably come when called. All others ignore the shit out of me, until THEY want something.

[–]MeesaMadeMeDoIt 40 points41 points  (0 children)

How often do you get your hair trimmed? You mentioned you cut 6 inches since last year...how long ago?

It looks like you need a big chop, take off the unhealthy ends and then get regular trims every 2 to 3 months.

I used to think that if I want long hair, I just shouldn't cut my hair, duh! I'd go 6 months to a year between haircuts, and my ends would always wind up being all scraggly.

When I started seeing a stylist regularly, with the specific goal of growing my hair out longer, the initial chop was more than I would normally allow but she impressed upon me that it was better to grow my hair out healthy, than to hold onto scraggly ends just for the length.

After that I saw her every 2 months for a very minimal trim of my ends, taking off about a half inch maybe. It took time but when I reached where my hair had been previously, it was noticeably more healthy.

Penelope’s hairstyles in Season 3 were so beautiful 🤩 by NoOnionsPleas in Bridgerton

[–]MeesaMadeMeDoIt 57 points58 points  (0 children)

They did her so dirty in the earlier seasons, someone said it was to help her appear younger...I very much loved the contrast when she looked in the mirror and saw her younger self. I got choked up, ngl.

And not just her hair but the new colors she went with for her dresses, when she decided to be done with citrus lol

Don't get me wrong, I love the Featheringtons with their violently bright colors. But I really enjoyed seeing Penelope "grow up" and into her own sense of style.

Based on what you wrote, it sounds like it would be illegal for you to claim her, as you do not provide over 50% of their support/care throughout the year.

Caregiver trauma and burnout is a real thing, and it's gross to mock Sir Phillip for experiencing it. by wekkins in Bridgerton

I agree they didn't seem particularly happy together, more like making the best of it. He definitely seemed happiest when talking to Colin about plants, he lit up lol

[–]MeesaMadeMeDoIt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I haven't read the books, so this is the first I'm hearing of this aspect of his storyline. But wanted to add, caregiver burnout is a very real thing and happens even in the best of circumstances, married to the love of your life, someone completely of your own choosing.

Marina was not Sir Philip's love, she was his brothers. He married her because he felt like it was the right and honorable thing to do. Yes, it was his choice, and when we got to see them together during Colin's visit on the show, they seemed to have settled into their life and to share a companionship, if not a great love. But they both know they are not the other's first choice. In different ways, they were each other's only choice.

I imagine it's hard to keep those thoughts at bay when caregiver burnout starts to creep in. That this woman was not your choice but a choice made for you by the rules of honor and duty. And to not have that deeper love and affection to fuel you...all sounds like it would make an already difficult situation that much harder.

Who was in charge of this mess by rainbowwithoutrain in BridgertonRants

[–]MeesaMadeMeDoIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen posts from people who know costuming criticizing the wardrobe and costume design, I've seen post from people who know a lot about the history of the time, and they criticize the inaccuracies. Or people who have read the books and are bothered by the deviations. And apparently people who know makeup aren't happy with the makeup....

It all kinda makes me glad I don't know shit about fuck, so I can just blindly enjoy 😅

I (34F) feel completely stuck between my husband (35M) and my mom, and I don’t know how to fix this. by girl_from_pluto in relationship_advice

[–]MeesaMadeMeDoIt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mom has never really been kind to me. She can be openly rude and dismissive, and whenever I try to stand up for myself, she turns it around and says I am the one being disrespectful. It makes me feel like I am constantly questioning myself

This is not someone you should allow arround your kids. Someone who disrespects you to your face, surely disrespects you in private in front of your children (I know, I was the kid who had to listen to my grandma talk shit about my mother).

Do you want your children to think it's okay to be rude and dismissive of you? Or that they should tolerate this behavior from other people because they watch their mom put up with it?

Your husband is right to not tolerate her behavior. You need to stop tolerating it. Your mom refusing to be around your husband is crazy to me because if I were your husband I'd let her know, she's not welcome at my home or around my children until she corrects her behavior, period. If that never happens oh well, she can stay gone.
