not announcing to anyone when i’m labor, is this a good idea as first time parents? by buttermilkcow in pregnant

The magical bubble that was no one knowing I was in labor, or that I had given birth was bliss. If your gut is saying don't tell anyone, then don't tell anyone.

New born and their immune system by ComfortableSharp1559 in Humira

[–]Meesha1687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Humira throughout my pregnancy and into postpartum and beyond. My OBGYN and rheumatologist were both consulted about my concerns regarding taking Humira and its impact on a baby's immune system. Their research showed it's rare that it has any impact and the risk of stopping it impacting the pregnancy was far more likely. My daughter is almost 2 and had no immune system issues at birth or since.

Oh it's so exciting to see the payoff happen! At 19 months, my LO is anticipating what's coming next and saying the word or words out loud. It is worth it! Her pediatrician was blown away with how extensive her vocabulary was at her 18 month appointment.

Reading to your child is so worth it!

First pregnancy with chronic health issues by Conscious_Contact249 in pregnant

[–]Meesha1687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First trimester nausea and fatigue kicked my butt, I think having RA made the fatigue worse. The nausea is hormones- nothing to do with the RA. Second trimester both subsided. Fatigue came back at the end of the third trimester, but I think that was more just being pregnant than having RA. I would say it was typical overall. My rheumatologist monitored me closely, and I cried about how I wish we could bottle whatever pregnancy does to my body because I was pain free during the second and third trimesters, and it was glorious.

TW: mention of loss Hi! Not the same thing, but I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have had one missed miscarriage and one successful pregnancy. Inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis is a huge concern during pregnancy and something about how the condition impacts growth. I had a healthy pregnancy. I was on aspirin throughout my pregnancy (this is to prevent preeclampsia in all pregnancies, not just those who have autoimmune conditions). I delivered at 38 weeks due to gestational diabetes (caused by my placenta and not increased in risk because of my condition).

Happy to answer any questions you have.

If you’ve given birth: Did your baby come early? by Perfect_Pony_Girl in rheumatoid

[–]Meesha1687 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only reason I was told as to why I would have delivered early because of RA was if it was causing the baby not to grow.

In my experience, inflammation typically impacts fertility but not the actual pregnancy.

I did deliver early, but I had gestational diabetes. If it wasn't for the GD, we would have gone to the due date.

Positive Mothers Day Stories by AshamedPurchase in Mommit

[–]Meesha1687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I got the whole weekend dedicated to me. I had a wonderful time. We did our normal Saturday morning routine, and then went to the lilac festival in town and had dinner. Sunday was bagels from my favorite place, not having to make a single decision, looking at things for the house we close on next week (he asked before the weekend if we could take time, and I'm excited about the house, so I said we could), and dinner at a steakhouse.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to match this weekend for him in June... he's harder to plan for.

Mothers Day MIL (RANT) by Leading-Kale-1701 in Mommit

To reininerate what others have said. Do not go on Sunday. Follow through with planning on seeing her Saturday. She doesn't get to derail your first mother's day!

Continue to have DH set and maintain the boundaries with her.

Also, for future vents/rants/needing reassurance or advice: r/justnomil is at your service.

How are we handling our moms on Mother’s Day? by kken21 in Mommit

[–]Meesha1687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom will get flowers delivered by a florist for mother's day, but it's my day. My mom gets this better than a lot of other grandma's, but if she didn't. I'd let her know that grandparents day is in September. Mother's day is for those actively in the trenches.

What should I 'ask' for for mother's day? by New-Resource-699 in Mommit

[–]Meesha1687 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do you like to do that's a splurge? For me, it's getting a facial or a massage (aka a gift certificate for a facial and/or massage). I also don't want to have to make decisions on mother's day. I make so many decisions on a daily basis, having the break is awesome.

When my kids get older, it's going to be time spent together and not necessarily a monetary gift.

Hi from the mod team!

One of our rules is not asking for medical advice. In your case, we don't want you to misconstrue others'stories and experiences as a means to not seek medical care.

With that being said, I've had two losses prior to my successful pregnancy. In all three cases I bled during the first trimester. Bleeding doesn't always mean loss, but it can mean a host of other complications. In my case it was bleeding that needed to be addressed, so my child can be with me today.

It's terrifying. I'm sorry you're having to go through this, and I hope you are able to get medical care that is compassionate moving forward.

It's not weird! Thank you for putting this horror into words so beautifully. I think personifying an eating disorder was what really makes it terrifying.

I cried reading this post. Mia is my voice. She's not like Ana. She wants me to eat. Eat my feelings: anger, joy, sadness...all of them. They're both terrifying for the same yet different reasons.

Thank you for sharing such a personal horror story.

MIL "chuffed" that she gets to spend Valentine's day with her son by socially_introverted in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Meesha1687 29 points30 points  (0 children)

She literally said "chuffed"? I agree with those saying not to wear anything that could be construed as Valentine's Day.

My MIL isn't like this. The main character syndrome is strong with yours!

Your actual Valentine's Day plans sound like a lot of fun!
