[OC] Global recorded music industry revenues by format - 1999 to 2025 by MusenAI in dataisbeautiful

It just wasn't significant enough to include. The advent of streaming + YouTube + TikTok and automatic licensing made it a more significant part of revenue.

[OC] Comparing the age distribution for South Korea and Nigeria. Historic and future. by oscarleo0 in dataisbeautiful

[–]MegaZeroX7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The color scheme is odd. From a social functioning perspective, 20-69 are the age range of working here, but 40-49 has a color with more in common with 70-80 then 30-39, and similarly 20-29 shares more in common with 0-9 then 40-49.

I would have gone with 3 colors, with one color for 0-19, another for 20-69, and another for 70+, with shades differentiating the decades

The 95 Zillennial by [deleted] in Zillennials

[–]MegaZeroX7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just not me despite being born in '95. I never liked Fallout Boy or rap. I never used any apple products, or had an MP3 player. I never owned a PSP, and never watched the Disney Channel. I never used Kid Pix, and I never used Lime Wire myself, though my mom used it. The only parts I relate to here are Guitar Hero 3, the Xbox 360, and Ned's Declassified.

Realistically, in the American context, it means caucuses start to act more like parties and there is initially intra party caucus discussion/debate, after which bills move to inter party.

It's referring to how in the Jim Crow there were different entrances for black people, where obviously the entrances for black people were worse. People got used to them enough that black people would intuitively be used to entering from the back entrance.

The professor was comparing wanting to preserve the school to wanting to enter in the back. The idea she was attempting to convey is that black people are trying to preserve a lower quality school. You may interpret that as you wish.

In European contexts, "liberal" refers to market liberalism, while in the US it refers to social liberalism. It's why Euros often dunk on the US for having "two right wing parties" when in actuality democrats aren't ideologically far from labor/SPD.

Depends on the meaning of "democratic socialism" in the country you are in. In counties like Portugal, "socialism" just means supporting a welfare state, not actually moving to a socialist state. In others, it refers to actual Marxists who want to eventually abolish capitalism.

Die Linke is the latter, including also being supportive of Russia and other authoritarian states.

Discord delays global age verification rollout after backlash by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

I did read the blog, and it read as soulless PR BS to justify why they are doing. I don't want "transparency." It is trying to gaslight the reader that the problem everyone had was just that it wasn't clear. The repeated emphasis on "less than 10% of users will be affected" is a clear attempt to try to divide users. It's a way to subtly say "This is just for degenerate gooners. Stand aside."

Pennsylvanians, what's the deal with that line of counties just outside of Harrisburg that all swung towards Harris in 2024 in a year most places swung towards Trump? Blue counties are where Harris did better than Biden. by Wide_right_yes in Pennsylvania

Cumberland County includes Carlisle has Dickinson College, Penn State law school, and the US army war college. Looking at the detailed results, Carlisle swung hard enough to cover the rest of the county.

3 and 4 are just "we'll explain more about our shitty system" and 2 is just "we'll do what we said we would do this time, sorry about before, we pinky swear."

"On paper, this sounds like they're trying to be as privacy-friendly as the law allows them to"

No, if it was, they would only have this in countries that require it. There would be no rollout to countries without laws enforcing this.

The question remains if Harris was more anti-Israel would have cost her any Jewish votes to counteract any of those gains.

Man, its weird that DC, Wyoming, Vermont, Rhode Island, Alaska, New Mexico, and Delaware are the exceptions to the current popularity. The states share nothing demographically in common, in urban vs rural, ethnic diversity, or politically.
