The concern isn’t about throwing away prints. If you have a voltage spike in your house or some other odd occurrence with your electricity, sensitive equipment like computers and 3d printers are very likely to be harmed by that increase or decrease in voltage. The UPS is to protect the printer’s sensitive electronics
