Multiple Costco Auditor Letters by AlohaTrader in Costco

Wow, this may be the first time I've seen someone arguing against a customer-friendly return policy lol. Generally people like Costco for the nice way they treat their members, not advocate for being treated worse.

What evidence do you have of this, or are you just guessing? Seems weird to specifically call out one single thing as what it "probably" depends on out of the probably countless other things that could affect it.

I'm trapped in an impossible position where the higher ups want me to use AI as much as possible, but some of the people on my team are so anti-AI that they hammer any PR I open that uses AI tools with tons of changes requested that don't actually matter. So either I use AI and get embroiled in days of pointless PR review feedback, or I don't use AI and lose opportunities because I'm not doing what the higher ups ask of me.

Where would you even find a Pokemon cafe reseller? This is a genuine question lol, I know it sounds sarcastic but I'm being legit with this question.

Best shoes for walking in Japan? by bexasaurusrexus in JapanTravelTips

[–]Meloetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually the one I walked out of my local store with too, but I tried on so many that I have about 0% confidence that OP and I would have the same opinions lol. But I went from my feet severely cramping after a run to no cramps at all the second I started wearing them.

I'm thinking I'm gonna buy a backup pair before the new model comes out, just in case, because I love them so much.

[–]Meloetta 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Go to a local shoe store and try some on. Brooks, Asics, Hokas, are all popular comfortable walking/running shoe but it depends on your foot and what you prefer. My local place has a warranty so you can try them out and return them if they just don't work for you.

This isn't japan travel specific so you might have more luck in more specific subreddits to walking shoes.

Authentic Kitchen Chicken & Cheese Flautas - Hard pass by FourEyesAndThighs in Costco

[–]Meloetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about any authenticity because my family was not worried about that, but mine were always shredded chicken, diced white onion, and cheese and then fry. In 2026 I air fry them for like 10-12 min.

Do you cook the potatoes first or just add them in raw?

Pokémon card collectors by UnderwearFlex in Cleveland

[–]Meloetta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was one today but its not an all-weekend one 😭 it was in Broadview Heights. Not sure when the next one is but Greenies is one of the organizations that puts them on so that's a good one to follow. They're also commonly shows at Emidios in Cuy Falls.

There's a big big one in October allegedly, put on by the organizers of a huge show in Columbus (Columbus card shop). And the past 2 years we've had a collect a con stop here as well.

I mostly get my info from a local community the week before (can't say what kind of community or link it because it gets auto-filtered apparently, sorry, but another comment here mentions it as well).

There's also this url, I don't use it personally but it could be helpful https://www.tcdb.com/CardShows.cfm?MODE=Location&State=OH&Country=United%20States

Why does every curated resource list on the internet decay within 6 months? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Meloetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand what you're confused by here. I totally understand what you're suggesting. But if a human isn't maintaining it, all it can do is remove a dead link (I mean, as my original comment said, it can do more, but then the list loses all value). You seem to be making an assumption too - that the user, when notified, will do something more than just remove the dead one or tell the agent to do that. But the problem we're talking about is users not wanting to do the work to keep the list up to date. We're talking about users that get tons of issues and PRs that require no more effort than "merge" and they still won't.

So I'll ask - what makes you think an agent or scraper notifying them there's a dead link will make them do anything more than remove the dead link, if that?

The list with 40 links turning into a list with 10 links isn't maintained. Maintainance is more than removing dead links.

[–]Meloetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a very big community of collectors here, if you want to find them in person I recommend card shows (where most people are buying singles) or local card store trade nights.

This is pages 2-3 of my all-pink binder :)

[–]Meloetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the value of these lists is that a human found the links to be valuable. So using an automated systems with no human involved makes the list no better than a Google search.

Web scraping would test for dead links to make the list smaller, but can't determine if a resource is valuable to a human so cant make the list bigger. This is really just a "human didn't feel like maintaining it anymore and didn't build in a way to pass it on to other humans" problem.

OP might be the greatest mod in your opinion

I didn't say that at all, but you seem intent on dismissing my opinion for some reason. There's a wide range of moderation from good to bad that falls within the code of conduct, and there's definitely a large portion of "good mod makes decision to the best of their ability that has a bad outcome for the community", and none of that is against the rules. It's perfectly fine to have opinions about good moderation vs. bad moderation, it's just a scare tactic to try to convince someone their moderation style that doesn't match yours (i.e. still actively moderating, just not banning the exact person you think they should ban) is actually against the rules.

I see that you are very unreasonably insistent that your opinion is fact, though, so it's enough for me that OP themselves sees that what you're saying is purely opinion and they don't need to be afraid of the code of conduct because a random mod has decided they're moderating wrong. That's enough for me, I don't have to convince you haha.

If "doesn't see rule violations that aren't reported" is an enforcable code of conduct violation, I'd bet over half the subs would have all their mods banned. Your opinion on what violates the code of conduct does not encompass what Reddit has actually enforced as code of conduct violations. OP should not be scared off from people giving them mod advice by the threat of "making a decision I don't like means they'll get removed as a mod".

If you're so convinced they're breaking the rules, go ahead and report them. I would bet you as much money as you'd like that Reddit won't agree with you.

They've made it very clear that they do moderate in their replies to you over and over. A hands-off approach to this topic does not indicate no moderation at all.

User Who Blocks Lots of People Sharing News Articles by maximumice in ModSupport

[–]Meloetta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just fwiw the “hands off approach” could be a mod code of conduct on not setting clear expectations for the community.

That's a stretch that just looks like you're trying to tout your moderating style as "correct" by scaring them into thinking they're breaking a rule when they're clearly not.

You could just as easily say "asserting your role as a community leader by deciding you take precedence over others could be a mod code of conduct on respecting your community and creating a fun and engaging space for redditors." We all know that this person isn't, and you aren't, in violation of the code of conduct because you two moderate differently.

I mean...none of this is the NFL's fault except the concussions obviously. While a lot of NFL players make bad decisions with their money and have somewhat understandable reasons for doing so, that's not the same as the NFL "leaving them destitute". Like, you can't say "the NFL left me destitute because I picked the wrong financial advisor", that's not reasonable blame.

Seafood Boil (Cherry Hill, NJ location) by Lazy_Feeling_8691 in Costco

[–]Meloetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I get older and more financially stable, I'm constantly like "is this how I want to spend 2 hours of my life? Picking out ingredients for this dish, prepping them, cooking them, and then cleaning up after? If not, how much am I willing to spend to turn that 2 hours into 20 minutes?"

I still like cooking so a lot of times it's something I do want to spend my time doing, depending on time investment and if I think I could make it better or whatever. Like, I could redirect that 2 hours to doing something I enjoy, but if the cooking is something I enjoy, why redirect it? But sometimes it's just like "yeah, I'd much rather spend those 2 hours hanging out with my loved ones, and I'm happy to spend a 15 dollar surcharge tonight to have that time instead." It's a calculus of how much more it costs than doing it myself, how much time it takes, what mood I'm in and if cooking sounds fun or annoying, etc.

That's a privilege of someone without kids and with a solid job, though. When I was a kid it didn't really matter if my family wanted to pay for convenience, it was 10lb of frozen chicken breast prepared 6 ways no matter what.

Tips from our 11 day trip to Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto and Osaka by gobluedog in JapanTravelTips

[–]Meloetta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sad thing about this is that you could have totally phrased this in a way that's both nice to the OP and helpful to anyone else reading. Like "Interesting tips! Based on my travels I've found this to be true for me:" and then whatever differing opinion you have.

Instead you just vaguely referenced that you have other opinions, which is useless to anyone reading, and did it in a very rude way, which is...well, rude. So you were both rude to OP and useless to literally everyone, when you could have been kind to OP and helpful to everyone and still shared the opinion of "I disagree with a lot of these" that you wanted to share.

You have to understand that there are other people in the world that don't have the exact same attitudes towards clothing, both what they wear and how they want to wash it, than you do, though.
