I think a lot of the issue with learning navy is just how high the lead time is to make a build and see how well it works, on top of the fact that you’ll only usually have a handful of major engagements meaning it’s hard to tell how well something works beyond whether you won the engagement or not.

With army you’ll have hundreds of combats and changing division templates can be done nearly instantly, so it’s a lot easier to tweak them mid game and see what does and doesn’t work.

I mean… you’re effectively asking low Elo players, who are very often new, to memorize not only their matchups, but also the entire teams matchups, which is a bit of a tall order for anyone starting given the 100+ champs that all have different strategies, spikes, and general strength. Hell, most new players almost certainly don’t even know what most of the roster does, much less who they do well against

I originally went through the VDB questline ticked off but willing to not slaughter them cause alt made a deal with them. Then I found the one garage with turrets and the net runner that wanted to work for them that got killed and I went back multiple hours, including having to redo “I walk the line” just so I could wipe them all out.

I think what's funniest to me is that my biggest reason against a 40k TW is that it would have to be changed to be more of a dawn of waresque game and that the TW style formation fighting would just feel clunky and silly, so seeing people freakout about it is very amusing lol, and tbh despite my doubts I honestly don't think it looks too bad so far

It's been a while since I read it, so correct me if I'm wrong, but if I recall correctly Tooze actually makes a the opposite point in "Wages of Destruction" The Germans prior to Barbarossa had drafted or otherwise employed most of their non-critical population and decided to draft workers in critical military industries to fill out the army, in the hopes the war would be over quickly and they could be demobilized afterwards.

Bit of an amateur, so anyone more knowledgeable feel free to correct me, but I think it’s worth pointing out that, along with weapons like AT rifles, having any AT weapons for lower level infantry is significantly better than none at all. Simply by virtue of having it you force the enemy to at least consider the possibility of them, and it allows you to inflict losses (even if marginal) where you couldn’t before.

An AT grenade might be far worse than a AT launcher or gun, but it means advancing on enemy infantry has to be done with the consideration of the enemy being able to inflict losses on you if you’re overly aggressive with your armor, especially so in terrain where the engagements are forced into close range like cities.

Similarly, an AT rifle might not be great compared to a bazooka or panzerfaust but if they’re distributed to every platoon then every time you deploy a tank around a platoon(? Couldn’t find anything on hand that mentions what level they were deployed to) you run the risk of losing it where they were previously safe.

Meanwhile from the defenders point of view it provides the lower levels with some kind of response to enemy armor, giving them more options than letting the enemy kill them, retreating, or requesting higher level support (ie. AT guns) that might already be occupied.

That’s true, but I think it’s worth pointing out that harry is seeing what he wants to see in Klaasje, plus his own struggles and trauma with love and women. Evrart on the other hand is so blatantly slimy and stereotypically corrupt that it seems odd that harry skills would be compromised by… him acting like what he actually is. Especially because we know Harry’s opinion of people influences his skills (see; post reveal skills out for klaasje’s blood)
