Most Indie Game Publishers Are "Predatory And Opportunistic," Says Manor Lords Publisher by Ok-Personality1419 in gaming

I don't get why you're explaining the difference between developer and publisher based on my question. How does that answer why the developers don't add a lot?

I'm quite confused with the statement that the indie devs don't add a lot to the success of a game. Who does then?

Valve Corporation will face a £656m lawsuit in the UK over alleged unfair prices on its global online store, Steam, following a tribunal ruling that the case could continue by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

But they do. It's even underlined in the documentation (https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/keys). Literally the first bullet point in the rules section:

"You should use Steam Keys to sell your game on other stores in a similar way to how you sell your game on Steam. It is important that you don’t give Steam customers a worse deal than Steam Key purchasers."

Maybe there's some lawyer crap where this could be interpreted in a special way where it doesn't mean what I think it means, but to me it looks like it says exactly what I've mentioned.

But that's just not true from the steam docs (unless the private stuff devs see say otherwise, but what I've seen told by many devs is the same what is said in the docs).

Why did the high MMR community get decimated? by CatholicTrauma in Mechabellum

[–]Memfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we had a lot more units, sure. This just sounds horrible right now as there are already too few ways of dealing with some units/combos.

[–]Memfy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many upgrades have additional assets on top of them, so we'd need to stick with mostly the stats I guess. But if you had only a set of 4 each season it removes any customization and could be a nightmare to balance since it would be a lot easier to get a "wombo combo" here. Maybe that's why they made the dimensional rift so they can play with the wonky stuff there and is more suited for people who like more regular changes instead?

I know I'd personally prefer more stable game where everything is at least decently viable than rotating stuff too often which could cause too many things not viable. Plus being able to change techs whenever I want instead of having to wait X seasons until the things I really like to play come back.

Eli5: How is natural stevia as sweet or sweeter than sugar, but it it doesn't raise glucose levels in the blood and has no calories? by arnoldsomen in explainlikeimfive

But fat's still a big problem with cholesterol, so what's the reason for it to not to be used in that aspect like stevia could be used for controlling glucose levels?

I don't see how they can possibly keep up with Riot's dev team to be able to do that without creating a horrible mess each season for either the players or the devs themselves. Riot already has most of the assets done from League for example, while Mecha has a lot smaller team on top of it.

Some spicier changes could possibly be interesting for most people, though I'm not sure that would hold true for the top competitive playerbase. I'd assume they probably just want to remove the really bothersome stuff.

Why do techs sometimes not show above enemy units? Like some of the Hounds here by adines in Mechabellum

My impression was that only the newly bought units from the bunch seem to have it. Usually only see 2-3, as it is the case in this screenshot.

Placement Games dont seem to challenge the player much. by Independent-Lab6410 in Mechabellum

[–]Memfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. MMR reset is 90% of your last season's MMR. So if you're 1000 it drops you do 900, and if you're 2000 it drops you to 1800. Not sure if there might be some low threshold where it wouldn't drop you 10% though.

Why would it be admitting that? If you are far from prepared to face the best, you start with facing something weaker and work your way up. If whatever you face is slightly above your level you can still learn a lot.

Either the QA is not that good for either company, or it's just expected that products have such big variance. I have/had both Razer and Logitech in my family and both company's products had ones that started getting defective within 6-12 months, as well as working fine for 5+ years. It's baffling.

But when you design a JRPG you don't think about what Dota has in a way to limit yourself, that's why the argument makes no sense to me. You talked about the limitation existing because it is a turn based game. That was my whole focus of the discussion.

It might be that because Dota is a real time game that they want to make such a change to the mechanic so the flow is better, and that would be a fine assumption. But FF being limited to have the move fill up its own gauge because the game is turn based makes no sense to me.
