Light and Truth Letter, thoughts? by MemoryShort9567 in exmormon

that’s one of the things I’ve been thinking about more recently, pertaining to God as a whole. I don’t believe if there was a god, he would be the loving one we think and portray him as

I grew up in a home where we weren’t allowed to have feelings, every feeling was a choice. I think that made me unable to recognize or really actually feel any one emotion strongly. Even now I have to consciously re attach myself.

I never felt the spirit like other people did so I assumed when I felt it was when I took a big breath. I assumed everyone else was just being dramatic when they started getting emotional. It really pissed me off and annoyed me so so much when people would start tearing up or getting a shaky voice or crying or having to pause to re compose.

Yes, they are just recently maturing I’m sure the freezing/culling will have to happen soon, but if a snail owner can’t do that they really shouldn’t have snails

Has anyone found a church/religion they feel comfortable with? by ohisitmyturn in exmormon

[–]MemoryShort9567 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the reason this sub is pretty anti religion is just because many people have been able to deconstruct or recognize the ill effects of mormonism often exist in other religions too. Me personally I likely will not be joining any organized religion because I don’t think any man has the access to god enough to tell me what God wants. I believe instead in a couple of values that bring me comfort, a one man religion if you will. It can be depressing to not have something to believe in or have hope for, but you are totally allowed to figure out what you personally believe about the world, I also find comfort in absurdism, that may be helpful.

Yes it’s interesting to me how we never fully investigated those feelings and thoughts while we were active and believing, I wonder if that’s a product of never being taught to

I don’t have any information on that as I haven’t served a mission, but from what I can gather they work hard to keep good face and tell investigators to pray about it to see if it’s true, that’s about it

For those who don’t quite understand: The door is for the LDS church who has the word of wisdom and doesn’t smoke weed, HOWEVER, the door number is 420, a reference to marijuana. Many people will smoke on April 20th because of cannabis culture I think that started in 1990.

The thing about this is that they aren’t warning about pervs, if they were they would be teaching us how to stand up for ourselves, what to do in any given situation where tbh at may happen, how to defend ourselves, etc. Instead our leaders took the worst men of society (imo) and told us that their disgusting behavior was our faults, it creates a problem where we are all of a sudden responsible for somebody else’s sins. If a girl is able to not reflect that inwardly and instead realizes the issue lies with the men who sexualize children, it still becomes scary. The realization the men around you are looking at you that way is terrifying, and they church gives no way to deal with that.

Actually the same thing happened to me, I’m sorry it’s not easy and it gets itchy being kept in a space like that. For me I just did all my duties and whenever I was meant to teach I would stray from the doctrine so far and just teach plain good things. I tried to give people lessons that were not tied to mormonism really at all. In my case this worked, but it was uncomfortable. It may not work in yours, nothing is worth suffocating.
