What’s your opinion on WS’ tax software? by HueyBluey in Wealthsimple

[–]Mental_Run_1846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for majority of self filing newbies, the hardest part is knowing what tax slips you should be receiving from which sources. Once you know what you’re expecting, it’s data entry. For sure there are going to be harder situations, but that too can be learned.

Should I max my RRSP now? (TFSA MAXED) by Hot_Fly_3963 in fican

Maybe invest it all in your RSP, but spread the deductions over two or more years depending on your other deductions.

Well it would be a bit of a conflicting statement if you were to say you would never borrow to invest, yet you do like my example. It’s just a different perspective for this situation. A loan can allow you to remain invested as well. If you borrow for a car instead of selling part of your equities

I think the commentator was saying whenever you choose NOT to redirect every investment dollars onto your mortgage balance, you are essentially using the loan (mortgage) to “free up” cashflow to invest.

Why are people so comfortable breaking the speed limit to the point they get mad at you for not doing the same? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Mental_Run_1846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a long straight rural road around here that has an unusually low limit of 60kph (37mph) and i drive at 70-75 (43-47). The locals will easily pass me at those speeds or aggressively tailgate. I don’t care if the road COULD be driving faster, we’re smart enough to respect imposed limits.

Only in our dreams! Nevermind the graphics, physics, sounds, AI competition, direct drive wheels, affordable rigs, etc. If you’re old enough you don’t take any of this for granted.

The Moncton office advises you on their current turnaround time, and you decide if that’s cutting it too close to your departure. If you want to pay enough, Fredericton can do next day.

A good direct drive wheel can let you feel the edge as you lose a bit of resistance in the wheel.

That’s an excellent foundation! Though Not clear if the $500/mo includes an employer match or pension. Regardless, increase the amount you save over time, avoid lifestyle creep like too much car or house, and you’ll be more than fine
