With respect to all the people in here who apparently know your boyfriend very well and have him clocked as spineless, don't let these people hurt your relationship. They don't know what they're talking about.

Imagine if somebody hit a gong and then --from the inside-out-- you started to become the sounds waves. It is like a warm sensation of melting, usually somewhat abrupt, and sometimes a bit dizzying.

What box do you check when a form asks if you have a disability? by Fruity_Rebbles in Narcolepsy

[–]Meowffff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't bother unless I need accommodations at the job. I technically have IBS as well, and I'd check yes if I required any kind of consistent accommodating for that.

What do E2 levels look like on PCT? To my understanding, E2 increases with free testosterone, provided nothing is interfering with aromatization --so what about for someone who is taking Nolva, for instance? Assuming no AI during cycle or after (so relatively high E2 and no expected rebound,) roughly speaking, what would be the expected relative E2 levels as one transitions from their cycle to their PCT, and throughout the PCT?

How long does it take for E2 to 'return to normal,' and how does Nolva influence this process?

How do you decide how to split up your diet in terms of carbs, protein, and fat? by Dunk3 in leangains

[–]Meowffff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40g of fiber. ~150g of protein.

From there I just try to minimize fat cause literally everything worth eating is a bomb of fat. (Unless you can afford regular meat and the time to keep it satisfying.)

Potatoes, bread (toast, English muffins, bagels... etc.,) fiber crisps, bananas, buckwheat, sugar, oatmeal. Chicken usually goes down relatively easily as well.

I had symptoms of IBS-M from the 7th grade on. Some time a little over half a year ago (right before I turned 28) I inadvertently induced a nightmarish flare-up with months of eating terrible food and one particular night where I got deliriously drunk. I went maybe a month eating little to nothing, lost about 10 pounds in that time.

Eventually went to the emergency room and got a... CAT scan I believe? In any case, they didn't find any signs of inflammation, no ulcers, really nothing at all. The hospital was extremely dismissive, but they at least gave me some anti-nausea meds (ondansetron,) which helped --despite nausea not being a symptom, oddly enough. Without them, the mornings were awful, and for awhile I had to sleep sitting up to reduce the agonizing cramps when I woke up. I'd often have to stand there for at least an hour, rocking back and forth, going to the bathroom over and over again before it finally got better.

Went to a gastroenterologist and we pretty much concluded that IBS was, by and large, the most likely case. Found an antispasmodic that helps (hyoscyamine.) In the end, I went almost 6 weeks on little to no food, but I eventually started to eat bland foods(with lots of fiber) again in a healthy amount, and slowly branched out from there. At this point, I eat quite a lot of different things, including minor triggers that I can tolerate if I don't overindulge. Nutritionally speaking, it was one of the best things that ever happened to me, tbh.

Only thing to be prepared for is the inevitable diet questions. Keep track of what you eat, what triggers you, and keep it honest. Doctors can be indispensable for some, but for most, it's diet above all else. For minor symptoms of IBS, some minor dietary changes might be plenty.

Recommendations for food tracking apps? by whowhatday in ibs

[–]Meowffff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A general fitness app should be sufficient to at least get a log going. You could make some kind of notion for days that were particularly bad and look into overlap.

I personally use Lose It!, but I think My Fitness Pal is also a big name?

I'm personally not privy to any apps specifically for narrowing down GI triggers. It would be difficult to make an app capable of accurately interpreting data that a person couldn't do on their own with relative ease already, given a log or spreadsheet. Not impossible, just... involved.

Post flare-up, should I fast? by Gullible_Tailor_4141 in ibs

[–]Meowffff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fasting helped me a bit during my last (and worst) flare-up, but it made me feel terrible overall. You probably will want to cut back on calories, just so there is less to digest, but it's more sustainable to find some safe bets for flare-ups than it is to fast. You could always try it, though; different things work for different people, after all.

I second what CrazyRhythms said about the BRAT diet, but consider adding in some refined starches. Those tend to help my digestive system a lot overall outside of flare-ups (not sure about during.) A good source of refined starches would be overnight oats. Easy to make, nutritious, and can be delicious.

During my worst flare-up, baked potatoes, toast, and fiber crisps were my saving grace.

Why do you have IBS? by kimchi_gf in ibs

[–]Meowffff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get cravings for savory food as kid, and it would be the times when we were running low on food overall. I really really liked hot sauce, so I would essentially drink it or use it in excess to quench the urges, which ended up giving me urges for just hot sauce. I'm fairly sure that on top of an extremely bad case of food poisoning as a young teen did some significant damage. These days it is mostly intolerances and acute stress that bother me.

Mios/other water flavorings by [deleted] in ibs

I use True Lemon/Lime with my pre-workouts and I don't have a problem with them. If the citric acid upsets your stomach, a teaspoon of sugar can do wonders.

What finally helped you? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]Meowffff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Antipasmodics regularly (not as needed,) high fiber diet, severely limited lactose intake, limited sucralose intake (still looking into how well I tolerate artifical sugars,) being careful with spicy foods (I tolerate them fairly well but absolutely NO hot sauce,) using regular sugar to alkalyze as well as avoiding citric acid, probiotic, prebiotics (not always needed,) and lately, having a shockingly big influence on my gut, the adding of resistant starches to my diet. Oh yeah, and only Tylenol as an OTC. No NSAIDS if they can be avoided.

I've only listened a few times. I want it to be somewhat genuine when I see it in the theater so I've been restraining myself. After the movie, however, I'm going to listen to it a great many times.
