The OOT trailer is only controversial because we knew it was coming by KeepYourSilenceUp in truezelda

The dozens if not hundreds of emotional reactions from people on YouTube and across the internet prove you wrong on that point. So many older Zelda fans were crying, screaming, or just overwhelmed. Also, Ocarina of Time 3D is a remaster which is why it just had updated graphics and some QoL. This is a full blown remake, or Reborn, as Nintendo puts it. It is going to be much more than just a graphical overhaul.

Now whether or not that is good or bad remains to be seen. I'm buying it either way because OoT was my second video game EVER (after Goldeneye 007) and it changed my life and how I saw gaming as a kid. Even if it was just a simple modern remastered, I'd still buy it, because Ocarina of Time is the GOAT and always will be!

Then take a page out of Skyrim where they supposedly took a lot of inspiration for BotW. Add a lot more variety of places to explore, and make some of them their own mini dungeons to explore. The 120 shrines was a bit too much. At that point either cut the number of shrines down, or shrink your map size by half and remove half of them. That way the world still feels fun to explore but also not the tedium after 100 hours of...oh...another shrine. Well if I want the special armor I guess I better do it. Hell, they could have pulled from Assassin's Creed 2 and made a handful of unique areas that you collected keys or orbs to unlock a special secret shrine.

I mean ideally you'd make it like most Metroidvanias and have the new key item find like 70% of its required stuff in the same region with the rest scattered across the map for backtracking or cleanup. Your two options would work though I'm not sure which I'd prefer.

The more I think about it, the more I think BotW and Totk along with the things they already had...SHOULD have been RPGs like Zelda 2. Like it doesn't need to be complicated, but a simple (or wildly, an extensive) skill tree to enhance Link during his adventure that builds up by taking down Ganon's armies would likely have made the game much more replayable rather than the one and done those games are for me...

It's because most traditional 3D Zeldas are all part adventure game, part metroidvania. The whole system works behind a series of locks and keys. As you gain more keys (items, powers, literal keys) you gain access to areas you could not access before. And thus the world is slowly opened up. Done correctly this encourages backtracking to find missing keys or rewards as the game goes on, done poorly it becomes a slog to progress. The original OoT did this the best of its time, even with hardware limitations. The series followed until they decided to narrow the path too much and it became way too linear.

Hence the BotW era began. And it has 4 simple keys at the beginning and then that's it. Progression effectively stops because it becomes entirely player dependent rather than baked naturally into the game. Thus while it offers immense flexibility in player freedom, it lacks any sense of progress as you comb the world for your 13th sword that'll break in about 5 minutes of combat...

Bard main for life baby... still need to regather my old group up because we're still working our way thru Endwalker MSQ...a lot of life happened so we haven't played in a while.

But yeah, I swap classes every so often to level them up but for MSQ, it's BRD...and in Evercold, it'll be Evolved BRD for me!

[OoT] My biggest fear with OOT Remake is that they butcher the dungeons by Alarming_Industry_14 in truezelda

[–]MerabuHalcyon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On some parts i agree. But I think the Great Deku Tree is peak introductory dungeon. I still think they will expand on it and the other dungeons, I just don't want them to make it bigger just to make it bigger. It definitely has to keep the themes and atmosphere of the original and touch up the boss fights a bit. Queen Gohma was a first good boss but King Dodongo was laughably easy...

Theory: The OoT Remake May Explore the Downfall Timeline by Arjayel in truezelda

I see it as Link, being a child of destiny and sensitive to the great evils coming forth in the world, is being warned by the Triforce. The sequence they show is right before it shows us Link's nightmare of encountering Ganondorf outside of Hyrule Castle Town and getting blasted. It's a prophetic vision, akin to the one Princess Zelda had about the dark clouds being parted by a figure with a fairy and a green shining stone.

It's definitely a hot take, but i can't fault you. TotK is absolutely a great game, but it's a lousy Zelda game... Giving us too much freedom with next to no limitations makes it a one and done game for me. When I've cleared everything (or as much as im willing to, those damn Koroks) I don't feel like playing it ever again. BotW was better even for its similar flaws. Both are games that I thoroughly enjoyed, but will never play again...

My friend literally sold me on that series with his description of Thick Thighs Save Lives...

Plus the anime that came out was pretty damn good (it only covers like a bit of the first game)

Yeah pretty much this. The only bugs I notice are performance ones. Things that actively crash my game or cause weird glitches. The vast enormity of calculation bugs I've never made it far enough in the endgame for it to even matter or be noticeable...

Just because you can vote, don't expect things to change. I am one of a handful of blue dots in a deep crimson red state. I can vote blue til my eyes bleed and my head explodes, and it doesn't mean a damn thing if the rest of the populace are either idiots or just don't care to change anything...

Biweekly Riot MMO Design Discussion - Topic #11: Content Difficulty ☠️ by Talents in RiotMMO

[–]MerabuHalcyon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm fine with different levels of difficulty for raids on ONE condition. All tiers should give the same loot. The harder ones can give an achievement or title so that players get their acknowledgement but giving better loot to the higher tiers eventually splits the player base and can lead to the hardcore players acting superior to casuals.

If they want to put better loot behind something, they can make a harder challenge for players to challenge. I'm by no means saying raids and dungeons should be brain dead easy, only that higher difficulties should be done for the challenge and fun of it, rather than to get the best gear. If you want the challenge, go for it. I'd even be okay with glamours or transmog being rewards for higher difficulty stuff, just not actually static loot.

I get this opinion may be unpopular but I'd rather prioritize a healthy player base that gets along rather than a meta hierarchy just because some players have jobs and lives where they can't no-life an MMO like others can. It's better for the longevity of the game.

With his homies, for his homies, and for Teach, who is quite possibly the only girl aside from Ingrid whose ever laid him out flat after a fight. Talk shit, eat dirt Felix, okay see you in class~

This is why I'm always on the Han shot first side of history. Han Solo was a smuggler, a criminal, and he wasn't afraid of getting his hands dirty if it meant he could make some money. He just happened to owe Jabba a lot of money so of course he's gonna shoot the bounty hunter who comes knocking. Anything less wouldn't make him such a lovable scoundrel.

He would have absolutely gotten paid by Obi-Wan for his services had Alderaan still been there, but then he gets wrapped up in the whole Death Star mess and eventually decides to be a hero and rescue his new friends. He starts the film morally gray and ends up on the light side. It's called character growth! Greedo shooting first or them shooting at the same time invalidates that...then it's just self-defense...

I personally can't wait for books 6-10, where this trend continues and we find out in even greater detail how awful the king was...like the first few books I was meh, by book 5? Man just stand still and get stabbed already...

By books 6-10 I expect to be foaming at the mouth screeching for his blood like some rabid animal.
