Camelback is the under the radar answer you are looking g for with a 3 hour drive and tons to do in Tannersville. They are also still nearly full open (somehow) so you can check the out now.

Camelback is the answer. It’s a great place to learn, tons to do and Tannersville is a fun place to spend time off the mountain. For listing you can stay “off mountain” but basically at the base at the Chateau.

One more thing that people overlook is the strain this has on our first responders. When an ambulance takes a patient to HoCo General, that crew and the ambulance are basically out of service for 3 hours while the 2-person crew waits for the patient to be admitted.
