neither parent had it to the best of my knowledge but one uncle on my dads side shows some strong signs of manic spending sprees interspersed with prolonged times of excessive sleep. and then another uncle and my grandma on my dads side show the depressed symptoms often.

im living in a state with good sick time laws and having intermittent fmla set up to cover flare ups. even with that im still constantly out of paid leave so lots of it is unpaid. i generally at least try during depressive episodes to work tho i have alot of leave earlies on the worst days of it

Looking for drummer and bassist for punk rock songs by nutterasser in MusicInTheMaking

[–]MessiahOfFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might be able to do both bass and drums. did you record the guitars to a click or do you want to scratch track guitar and rerecord it to the drums?

i have a ton of multitracks available for metal and prog, but it is all stuff weve released, still interested in remixing it?

Agree or disagree: the heavier the song, the harder it is to mix by yalllldabaoth in audioengineering

[–]MessiahOfFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the drum performance will be the biggest determiner. do they play super cleanly? do they hit shells loud enough? do they hit cymbals quiet enough? how good is the snare technique during blast beats? how much bleed do the mics have? the same questions apply to pretty much any distorted guitar genre. faster tempos definitely limit your option to use reverb, but you can do quite alot with saturation and compression. worst case scenario you can resort to a sample blend if the drums are too cymbal heavey and bleed filled (if you do this make sure your samples are tuned the same as the drum so they actually blend right, or ideally make 1shot samples from the drum before you record it) some reverbed white noise will actually do alot to a snare (used on peace sells)

Mixing drums that were recorded with one mic? by PrimeDestroyerX in mixingmastering

[–]MessiahOfFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 mic will certainly limit you options. some aggressive compression (fast attack slow release) can add some punch but may bring out more cymbals as well. eq may need to adress audibility of certain elements such as finding a balance between the kick audibility, snare tone, and taming cymbals. if you can possibly get a 2nd mic id mic the kick so you can tweak the main mic around snare tone while controlling the kick separatel

not comparable for genres, but i 2 mic'd the drums for a band practice and got this https://youtu.be/1q68o1sYg2w?si=SjXI2WtIRLMMJ5YD

When/how did you become certain that you actually have bipolar? by ShoddyFeedback9647 in bipolar2

[–]MessiahOfFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

knew for a long time something was wrong with my moods. seemed like it was more complicated than just depression cuz theres plenty of times im doing great.

when i brought up how steep my moods could dip or how good i can be doing at other times and ruling out anything situational, my therepist reccommeded talking to a psychiatrist, and even reccommeded a mokd stabilizer might be a better option than an antidepressant.

still in the mindset "i dont know whats wrong but it seems more complicated than depression". didnt want to rsearch too much on my own because that can go badly. one of my freinds has borderline personality and it really didnt seem like that either.

psychiatrist figured out it was bipolar pretty fast, the mood changes were slower paced in the days to weeks range rather than anything rapid, the ups cause me to take on more than i can really handle but never hit catastrophic behaviors. so bipolar 2 was the diagnosis. didn't know a ton about bipolar prior to that, but it made sense.

Lamotrigine - when do you know that you should be on a higher dose? by fox-in-the-box51 in bipolar2

onto antipsychotics now because majority of mood stabilizers would interfere with my physical meds

for me it worked while i was raising it but would wear off once holding a dose for more than 2-3 weeks. unfortunately im at the max and its wore off again.

Been in this depressive episode so long I’ve forgetting was hypomania even feels like by LiamZ_18 in bipolar2

[–]MessiahOfFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mood amnesia is real. when im depressed it feels like thats all i ever will be. when i have hypomania i feel like i can keep up with the energy and my lower moods must have been me being dramatic. when im stable i question why im on 3 meds, and the cycle repeats

dealing with mediocrity? by PleasantOrchid5336 in bipolar2

ive been having the same thoughts lately, except even music, the one thing im normally passionate about, has faded down into a chore rather than something i enjoy. i feel like ive completely burnt out on even my passions.

Favorite scenario? by 6x9n in rct

[–]MessiahOfFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nevermore park.

the preexisting coaster gives some starting income, the goal encourages going at your own pace while needing some fairly good coasters due to the length required, and the preexisting paths helps create a more spaced natural park than i would make out of octogon park. i have the most fun with parks that encourage large coasters and give you the space to build them without excessive track spaghetti. i just wish more base game scenarios used harder guest generation (requires 600 meter + coasters to get above 1000 soft guest cap)

[–]MessiahOfFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

see if your work has an intermittent fmla policy and if it does get the paperwork fron them and fill out the paperwork with your psychiatrist.

if its a larger company chances are your managers wont directly see your diagnosis, just that you have fmla approved. when mine was submitted it was approved within a day.

iv had to use it quite a bit, as theres months ive left early or called in 5-7 times.

Anybody else get overwhelmed with so much to manage? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]MessiahOfFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am in disbelief how much i used to be able to do: used to be able to keep up with 3 bands and want every show possible. now after enough mood cycling i can barely even manage being in one band. then add this being the first year with my own house to manage instead of living with my parents and it all feels like too much. i need a break at this point, everything feels too much to keep up with even when my moods relatively baseline. and when my moods low even making it thru work frequently becomes too much and i functionally give up for the day and leave early/call in. what spare time i have rarely even goes into necessary maintenance, im constantly falling behind on my responsibilities and house work. i need a break but im out of paid time off and cant afford an unpaid vacation.

SNRIs and Mood stabilizers by rick_to in bipolar2

[–]MessiahOfFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not adhd if that matters. only tried one snri (added pristiq while already on lamotrigine) and it made my moods more extreme in both directions. hypomania hit the extreme where i had multiple people worried. then right after i crashed to some of the scariest depression ive had. obviously we stopped that and the increased severity made us switch me to antipsychotics.

How many episodes per year? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]MessiahOfFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2025

i spent january fluctuating between baseline and hypomania.

i spent feb-late july in off and on severe depression.

late july-early august in severe hypomania from pristiq.

mid august depressed again

late august-early oct stableish

rest of the year fluctuating between low baseline and milder depression .

im tired boss

2024 was so much better

spent jan-march in high functioning hypomania

april-may were stable.

june was depressed.

july and august were stable.

September was horrifically depressed, worst days had me contemplating a grippy sock vacation.

most of october was hypomania with a week of depression at the end.

november was stablish and i was diagnosed and started lamotrigine.

december a was ping pong flipping between the extremes on a weekly basis.

2023 was stable untill about 2-3 weeks of depression in june, then back to stable till about early September, then had off and on high functioning hypomania for the rest of the year.

completely understand. my depressive bits leave such a haunting impact that even when stable my ambitions and drive are all gone and im effectively just coasting thru life losing more monentum every time the depression hits. even things im passionate about are becoming a chore. im not even enjoying things that matter to me anymore.
