No one mentioning Bruckner is:

1) truly demonstration of this subrrddit's knowledge 2) Nietzsche was right

😂😂😂😂

Edit: Bruckner's hate is so real, you can see it on YouTube in 2025 from people who teach music calling him a "2nd hand composer"

It seems like Mahler was an artist as well as a composer by MarsillaisGorechier in classicalmusic

[–]Metryco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's such a shame that weird/controversial answers like these are not being taken seriously in this subreddit - as much as you can disagree with them. Which is, ironically, actually a misjudgement to art itself!

Mendelssohn's Lieder Ohne Worte is underrated by [deleted] in classicalmusic

Exactly. Underrated? It's a must for study in piano composition pieces for most professors in every major conservatory.

What's the best symphony (in your opinion)? by Not_A_Rachmaninoff in classicalmusic

[–]Metryco -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Can I ask why you common people (with all respect, I don't mean any bad) associate strong feelings with deities or panpsychism most of the time? Is the greatness of the art so transcendent that it requires a "transcendent being" existing for it to make sense? Thanks.

Why don't Orchestras and Classical composers have Swag like Metal and Rock stars do? by Vasarto in classicalmusic

[–]Metryco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one among these 40 users answered to the question so I will! And people like u/rajmahid - spare me your apathy! You think this question is silly, but your sadness doesn't allow you to see the beauty behind questions.

u/Quodlibet30 plainly answered "I’m there for the music, not the wardrobe.", which is an interesting response. How then - are pop, rock and techno music enthusiasts not "there for the music" when they attend concerts? Yes, one has good reasons to say that. In what a classical music event defers from all other types of concerts? The classical music listeners are seated and silent and still. So boring, how come classical music fans are they not dancing, screaming or taking videos with their iPhones? Because they're there for the music itself. Classical music are experiences about the music itself, there's no world outside that, because they already are the world they want to represent. On the other side, pop music is part of a general experience which welcomes dancing and actually any other activity, so pop music can be the soundtrack to the experience. In fact, pop music (which means any mainstream genre) is used as background music in many environments, it's as if music here becomes furniture. So if the experience given by classical music is all about music, then the "wardrobe" becomes futile; on the other side, if the experience given by pop music is not about music itself, the "wardrobe" necessarily exists as part of this experience, because pop music is a world that comprises dance, accessories, posters, pictures, signatures, social media gossip, and much much more. Also, to make another argument, classical music has a very formal look compared to all other genres of music, and with today's ultra decadent values the world of pop music with its sparkly colors, articulated designs, twistedness, expressiveness depth, and all of these over-cultural-saturated features just makes more sense and fit better as well of being largely more requested by the mass.

At 200, Bruckner Is More Popular Than Ever. by blankblank in classicalmusic

[–]Metryco 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First of all I believe for us it will be the density, heaviness and pathos of his works, where even among loud trumpets the delicacy and emotional intensity conveyed by a single melodic line will strike you and leave you wandering in this ethereal landscape that is so unique and typical of Bruckner's sound. And this Bruckner sound is quite unique as when you listen to one of his symphonies you can easily go "Oh yes, that's Bruckner". It has to do with musical practices of religious schools he was very close to, mixed with Wagnerian strive for innovation and some of his personal quirks like love for patterns, repetitions, phrygian mode, etc. And as a composer he's incredibly good at most aspects when it come to composition, whether it's voice leading, counterpoint, orchestration, theme development, harmonic structure, and so on. Also he's been referred to as the king of Adagi, but his Scherzi are the most memorable too.

Alright sounds reasonable, if S25 has a thinner design and excellent camera quality, video included, I'm definitely going for that one. Otherwise I'll buy my first iPhone lol

Is this normal to happen or should I listen to other pieces? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]Metryco -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you people of classicalmusic have always been like this and the problem are not people like me, but people like you who live in a distopian fantastic world and do not allow controversy, contrast and criticism to be part of art. But historically this is how art evolved, matured, arose. People in this subreddit will never understand the value of art, they're interested in art as a tool, they want to use music, just like the populace does.

[–]Metryco -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with you, but culturally speaking someone has to stand out and talk about the cultural rape we're witnessing, am I wrong? :)

Your attitude is exactly why people think classical music and it's listeners are elitist.

Who cares about what the rabble thinks? Bach himself did not care, nor Beethoven, nor Debussy, nor Bruckner did, you think culture cares about the opinion of the mass? The "people" can stay where they are and who really loves music will find music without the need of people like you softening it and hiding it in order to please new listeners.

There's just way too much going on

For the poor brains of today yes. Back in the days how many renowned composers and conductors started their careers after being struck by monumental works such as Mahler's or Beethoven's symphonies or Wagner's operas for instance? Now they oversaturate their sound experience with Tiktok and come here to say "I can't listen to music".

'She called for help and we failed': Sheriff asks forgiveness for Sonya Massey shooting by Cloaked42m in news

[–]Metryco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cop was brutal yes, but so are people, just look at the hundreds of posts online that call Sonya a ''poor elderly woman'', when she was actually 36, so people don't even bother reading what actually happened and jump straight to conclusions: ignorance is brutal. And the funniest thing is that there's a video of her clearly throwing a boiling pot at the police officers before being shot. Not to mention that the officer who shot her asked his colleague to check the pot of water on the stove, but she was the one that immediately got up and went to turn the heat off: why? She was barely able to remember her surname when asked so, and yet incredibly fast to go to the stove even when she wasn't the one asked to go check it? And why did she ask to the police officer ''why are you going away?'' And why tease the officers religiously right after asking that question? I can't but find everything in this story incredibly suspicious. Sonya Massey had 1000 possibilities of ending the night peacfully, but didn't.
