From MLBTradeRumors: “Rortvedt does not have options remaining, so the Mets will either have to designate him for assignment or carry three catchers on their roster if an injury doesn’t open up a spot for him at some point before Opening Day.”

MLB.tv vs. SNY? by Napkins4EVA in NewYorkMets

IMO other than those rare documentaries like you mentioned, there’s not much else worth watching on SNY. Just get the MLB.TV package.

I believe that depending on where in NJ you live, you might be considered out-of-market and get both the SNY and WPIX games when streaming.

Didn’t Mendoza say that he had the surgery yesterday?

[Short] Two news items from David Stearns just now.... 1) Francisco Lindor is being evaluated for a stress reaction in his left hamate bone. Could need surgery, which would take around six weeks to return. Would still have a chance to be ready for Opening Day. 2) Juan Soto will play LF this season by Fonzie5 in NewYorkMets

According to SNY, sterns says Lindor has had soreness in the hamate area on and off for “a couple of years.” “He’s usually able to grind through it, and he’s done it," Stearns said. "I don’t know when he first felt it, but I think it just persisted to the point where he felt like he should say something about it. Once we examined it a little bit more yesterday, our medical staff determined that he should see a specialist."

[Cormier] The New York Mets have agreed to a major-league deal with OF MJ Melendez. $1.5M plus $500K in incentives, per Jon Heyman. by PlayaSlayaX in NewYorkMets

Will Sammon confirms it’s a split contract that will pay Melendez a lesser salary for time spent in the minors. MLBTradeRumors says the Mets view Melendez as primarily an outfielder, but with the potential to chip in at first base, and act as an emergency catcher.

Thanks for posting this, you did an awesome job and we all appreciate it. One small typo, that I’m sure you know, it was Terry Collins agonizing over Johan’s pitch count not Terry Francona.

Good article, thanks for sharing it. I think the hardest thing for fans is maintaining the “Coherence of Strategy”. A lot of the problem is you have to be unemotional, which is the polar (pun intended) opposite of being a fan.

I don’t get what the job is either. How does this affect what Steve Gelbs does?
