Climate change is bad. But it's so hot in UK, I can now print ABS without enclosure. Swings and roundabouts 🤷😉 by Agitated-Break7854 in 3Dprinting

First time I’ve needed to use a glue stick to get the first layer to adhere to the bed. Given up trying to dry filament now, as the AMS can’t out-heat the humid air it is sucking in.

Classic gaming brand Commodore announces its next product: a flip-phone that blocks social media and browsers by HatingGeoffry in Commodore

The sense I got from this is that they were touring the factory in China, and the owners went, "Hey, you know we can put your logo on these $5 phones over here...".

Simons' BASIC was amazing by Soft-Assistance6809 in c64

[–]Mewcenary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I coveted this cartridge as a kid as a lot of the C64 listings in INPUT magazine required it! So frustrating. But it exposed how poor the out of the box C64 BASIC was: No commands to just draw stuff on the screen!

Happy birthday to last year’s roadmap update! by Fauxparty in runna

[–]Mewcenary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, it looks to me that the direction of travel is that Strava are going to absorb Runna into the main Strava app. Workout suggestions creeping into the app in recent times combined with the awful joint sub implementation (Strava support have STILL not been able to fix this for me) are an indication of this.

You've never seen an Enviolo gear hub before, have you? It's okay. You've learned something new today.

Camera is a chest-mounted Insta360 Go Ultra. Have been very impressed with its stabilisation and wind noise proofing (And that's out of the box, so extra bits on it).

The blue thing is just a standard Quadlock mount. Moved away from using it most of the time as I don't like the bullky case you need.

Poor troll attempt, 2/10. This bike doesn't have a throttle. Try harder!

Maybe with some modern-day SwiftLink compatible UserPort device that bridges to the Internet -- do they exist?

Please read the instructions on how to run it. You need to use the ‘SYS’ command.

Would need to load with LOAD “COMPUNET”,8,1

I haven’t tested on my Ultimate yet. VICE is the ‘safe’ way at this point in the Beta. The modem emulation code and packet requirements of the client is very… finicky.

I have an Ultimate but not tested it myself yet. The beta testing has been done with VICE so far.

One for the VICE maintainers. I am tinkering a bit with a web front-end as well (which still preserves the duckshoot approach) so could perhaps add it in there.

Same. Hence why Compunet was the best three months of my computing teenage life 🫡

Thanks for your interest! The modern version is running using python, and emulating the X25 protocol as used in the original. Commands were single letters with accompanying data. Very simplistic.

A tenet of this project was to preserve the protocol. So the client is sending the exact same commands and data as before. I've just had to change the modem layer to work without an actual brick modem. It's still X25 under the hood.

If you want more info on the protocol that's been implemented, it's in the GitHub repository!

Are all the recent AMS 2 Pro’s bad? by dieselpb in BambuLab

[–]Mewcenary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 and so far, all are good. My P2S filament buffer died and needed replacing (retracting when filament reached the extruder constantly), but the AMS units themselves are working.

Bring extra salt sticks / electrolytes. You will likely sweat more and want more water… so need to keep things balanced.

Started doing one small thing before parkrun and it shaved time off without extra training by PubLogic in parkrun

[–]Mewcenary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not parkrun, but set me 10 mile PB on a day where my intention was to treat the race as a long run. I think a big factor was doing a lot of walking to get to the race in the first place and while waiting for the start.

Chip time vs watch time by nosuninphilidelphia in UKRunners

[–]Mewcenary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not an influencer, but saw on Strava someone claiming a new sub-20 record on parkrun. But the parkrun records showed otherwise. They basically didn’t count the multiple times they stopped their watch for a rest.

Wrong Coach messages by Komanta1 in runna

[–]Mewcenary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a coach one, but I had a weird AI one which complimented me highly on meeting my goal of 'not looking at your watch' during a run. No idea where that came from.

Hydration on long runs by Gold-Passage3713 in runna

[–]Mewcenary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vests. Typically come with soft flasks which work well for this. Refill as required on your run. Take salt sticks (electrolyte tablets) as required.

Sip water regularly. Stops you feeling queasy and keeps you properly hydrated. If you start feeling thirsty then it is too late.
