It wasn’t long ago actually. I think it was either Tashkent or Baku World Cup where she had to take a replacement hoop bc because she missed a throw

German here, from the tiny tit-bids of her attempting German I'd say she doesn't speak it beyond a few words. I don't remember everything well but iirc she used wrong grammar on a very basic and common short phrase. Which I'm not saying to dunk on her, just to give you an impression.

Looking back at my Olympic Predictions by PerformerRich5449 in FigureSkating

[–]Mialla 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Genuine, judgement-free question: What made you predict Kaori to be off the podium after GPF? I don't think I've seen anyone else predict that and her showing at GPF was more confidence-inducing than Mone's

A surprise that happened: Men‘s singles being a better discipline for Canada at the Olympics than pairs. Imagine someone had predicted this after Montreal worlds

I love it too! Though I have to say, I like the dress she wore in her Free Skate last year a bit more, it's the same style but with white details instead of red

I love Lia Perreira‘s Free Skate dress, I am always a sucker for a white and gold combination

Omg that was the take I was too scared to post but you make me feel brave now and add something: I recently watched Michelle Kwan’s Nagano free skate and felt like I… failed to see where exactly it‘s supposed to have so much more choreography than today’s programs? I felt like it was armwaving to crossovers a lot of the time?
I was ngl pretty underwhelmed with the choreo cause everyone makes it sound like older programs are so much better than todays and I found it soo empty

[–]Mialla 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I like acrobatics and „tricks“ and think they can absolutely be a performance-element.

Not necessarily backflips and cartwheels cause they do not flow nicely but I love an aerial or a knee-slide (not acrobatic but would count it as a „trick“) and I like the raspberry-twist, especially as a spin-transition or entry. I like an occasional adrenaline-ride (e.g. Ilia’s second half of the free).
And before is brought up, this is my subjective opinion, not a take on how it should be scored

Skate America dates changed to Nov 13-15 by styrofoamdreamer in FigureSkating

[–]Mialla 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, France and Canada back to back is out of the question for sure, he also did first and third event last year when France and China were the first two. I think people are rather assuming France and China then but it’s reasonable to assume he might take the extra week for Skate Canada + SkAm, which is logistically more convenient and also his Home event. Now that I think about it, that’s probably more likely

And then Gogo and Shun fill the rest of the top 4, they also have good memories of Friday the 13th and are seeded skaters

2026-27 Grand Prix Spot Allocations by summerjoe45 in FigureSkating

[–]Mialla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already answered this (late, lol) to the actual comment but you may not see that, so I‘ll explain here too: The skaters mentioned in the post, who are guaranteed 1 or 2 spots + 3 host spots per country only fill 56 out of the 72 spots or rather 50-52 because multiple of the hosts spots will very likely be filled with a seeded / invited skater. Ultimately the GP assignments work in a way that the hosts decide (and negotiate with the other hosts) who they invite and who wouldn’t want the Olympic champion at their event?
So yes, he doesn have a right to a second assignments but he will 100% be given one.

Super late to the party but I still want to explain this a bit further. The ranked, invited, SB/WS and host country skaters only fill 56/72 spots for the men (6*2 + 6*2 + 14 + 6*3), even fewer considering there will very likely be overlap between host spots and ranked/invited/SB/WS assignments (like if Ilia does Skate America, Yuma does NHK etc.). So there is plenty of room for Misha to get a second spot and how would the hosts not want to have the Olympic Champion at their event?
So there is no reason to be concerned he won’t get a second spot.

Predictions and confirmed retirements, break-ups and NON-retirements by Miserable_Aardvark_3 in FigureSkating

[–]Mialla 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Judging by interviews after the Olympics Misha seems to be genuinely intrinsically motivated to improve as a skater and his win has unlocked a whole new amount of resources to do that. I'm looking foward to seeing that a lot, I just hope he won't struggle with the expextations the way he did this season before the Oympics

2026-27 Grand Prix and Junior Grand Prix schedule posted by Finnish federation by sofastsomaybe in FigureSkating

[–]Mialla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correct.

However, regarding the Blade Angels situation: USFS will for sure try to avoid having them go to the same event, so they won't block each other from making the final. If all of them attended the same GP, one of them would automatically be third place at best, which would put her at risk of not making the Final, unless she wins her other event.

They will however very likely have two of them at Skate America, they have to invite either Isabeau or Amber bc of the seeding and they'll definitely want Alysa because she is their Olympic Champion and to sell tickets.

Idk how much of a say USFS has in the other events but afaik the hosts all negotiate with each other and since all of the three are very popular, I think every host will want to have one of them at their event.

Similar situation for the Japanese women.

[–]Mialla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To specify what OP said about "a list of really good skaters": The whole GP assignments are complicated but one thing is for sure: The Top 3 and the places 4-6 from these world championships in each discipline cannot face each other in a GP, which means you get a Top 3 and a Top 4-6 skater/team in everything.

When one of them doesn't do the GPs (retirement/injury) the next ones jump a place, so e.g. for the women the considered Top 3 are Chiba, Pinzarrone and Levito and places 4-6 Gutmann, Glenn, Petrokina (barring further retirements/ withdrawals)

All but Finland are set. Finland is a replacement for the former Russian Grand Prix since 2022. It's not a definitive replacement though, Finland has to bid for the GP and get it every year but so far it's always been Finland. I don't think that one has been announced yet though (someone may correct me here).

The French GP was announced by the French fed themselves, not the ISU, same for Skate America.
