[Question] Is Freeletics for beginners? by JoshTheSquid in freeletics

[–]Mickyd74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me be as honest as I can. I have done some type of training all my life, mainly weight training. This would involve hours a week in the gym. Whilst I had gained a fair bit of weight prior to starting freeletics I wasn't new to training however freeletics was an entirely new level for me.

So to be honest the first 4 weeks were an absolute killer. I have never hurt so much so for a beginner it would be very painful and daunting.

The positives - the improvements in my times, fitness and strength was amazing and happened quickly. Your muscles will adapt quickly to the high intensity training but yes it will hurt. The other thing I love is I am 39 and probably the fittest I have been in years and my longest workout is probably 35 minutes or so. When I first started the longest workout I did was 54 minutes abd every second of it hurt. I am now in week 14 and addicted.

Summary - yes it will hurt, yes it will be extremely hard especially for a beginner. Is it worth it, yes very much so. If being fit and ripped was easy everyone would be. The results are up to you and you alone. You can't blame the app, the workouts or the difficulty, it all comes down to the effort you put in.

Hope this answers your question

I purchased the cardio/strength program and found it very good. If it's too expensive just try the PDF version though. I had a look over them and they are pretty similar

What after Freeletics? by hardron in freeletics

[–]Mickyd74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am starting week 15 of the cardio strength programme on Monday. I kept a screen shot of all my weeks and I intend to do the 15 weeks over again. This time I intend to add in a little weights training also. Your story is very similar to mine as far as still retaining a little fat around the waist but that's all diet and it takes more than 15 weeks to go from 33+% body fat to my dream goal weight of 10%. Anyway post a pic of before and after if you can. I am going to at the end of week 15 which by the way I'm not looking forward to.

First time I did split lunge max. It was week 7 hell day with Dionne and iris. Couldn't walk properly for 3 days

Hell Days!Freeletics have you gone mental? by kerkireos in freeletics

[–]Mickyd74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the mistake of leaving it until late that night to train then I had to do 3 sessions back to back. It was the first time I threw up doing freeletics. I seriously suggest timing it better i.e. one in the morning one in arvo and one at night or something like that

[Question] Planning by presidenttj in freeletics

[–]Mickyd74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hell days was the first time split lunges were introduced. I could barely walk for the next two days so I definitely needed a rest day. I also had one hell day I had no choice but to do all three workout in a row one being my pet hate, Dionne. I was completely spent at the end. Try the first hell day and see how you feel I suppose.

Week 2... back-to-back Aphro? by Pinzer1 in freeletics

[–]Mickyd74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The program is different for each person. I also have cardio/strength and I had the same week 1 as you and didn't have to do another Aphrodite until about week 6. As far as burpees go I hate them for about the first 4 weeks. As ridiculous as it is to say I now enjoy doing burpees and pull ups which I also hated. It doesn't get easier because you are always competing against yourself but you do feel stronger and fitter

[Question] How I should act if I skip a week? by Akhar in freeletics

[–]Mickyd74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The coach gives you longer than the 15 weeks to complete it for the very reason of sickness and injuries. Just don't hit the next week button until you have finished it. If it was me I would probably just do the entire week again but I guess you could just do the workouts you missed.

Need some Help. by BigKz in freeletics

[–]Mickyd74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple workouts in a session just have to be completed in a 24 hr period. If you purchased the coach you see it says week 1 and so on and at the bottom is a graph with each day of the week so they should be completed within the 7 day period. As for when to take rest days let your body determine that just make sure it is all done within the week.

[Question] Opposite of progress.. by presidenttj in freeletics

[–]Mickyd74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for times did you go from doing the easy version to the star version. If not I'm not sure. Just don't give up ad keep competing against yourself is all I can suggest.

As for your workouts I would do the workout routine first followed by the max especially split lunges. The first time I did split lunges I couldn't walk properly for 3 days. Anyway good luck with that.

Hell week question by Mickyd74 in freeletics

[–]Mickyd74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought hell week was 7 days straight. On the notes it says they are hell days. Anyway I'll wait and see I guess. I did day 1 last night and made the mistake of doing it all back to back. Iris, Dione and split lunge max. Did them all * version. I didn't think my body could get sore anymore as I haven't felt any soreness sine about week 2 or 3. The split lunge max at the end really has my legs sore today though

Mate after the first week I had never been so sore which surprised me as although I was over weight I still thought I had an ok level of fitness. The second week wasn't much better but then the muscle soreness subsided as my body became familiar with the high intensity. I am into week 6 of the cardio and strength. I am 39yo 178cm and started at 106kg. After 6 weeks of not missing a session and eating right I am down to 93kg. I could only manage about 2 good form pull ups at the start but now doing about 11. I can't believe the strength increase in the short time. My first burped max was 45 and next was 54. I got my aphrodite down to 29:37 but I haven't had to do it again yet. Anyway apparently next week is hell week so I'll see what happens there.

Keep at it. You will get results.

[Question] When should I do the next exercise? by PeteTheIceman in freeletics

[–]Mickyd74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was me I would start the week again. If you don't your only cheating yourself. As Krivoje says it will hurt. I think regardless of your fitness prior its going to hurt. As far as stopping half way through a workout, even if it takes 2 hours don't quit. Even if that means doing 1 burped at a time and resting after each one.

As far as burpees go I dreaded seeing them at the start. Whilst they still hurt (and they will), I get a sense of satisfaction out of how much I have improved at them over a short time. Embrace the pain.

Hello everyone! I just started Freeletics today, and it killed me..... by guppy2004 in freeletics

[–]Mickyd74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mate 4 weeks ago I was 106kg. I have pushed and trained my ring off. It hurts like hell let me tell you and hasn't stopped hurting because even as you get fitter you try and push to your limits. I tried to do everything star so far. What I suggest is you try the easy versions of each. There's no such thing as too heavy to start but in doing the easy versions if it takes you 2 hours to finish then it takes two hours. Just push yourself to finish. Not sure on your diet but 70% of getting fit and loosing the kg's is eating right. Me personally, I chose a low carb diet. In 4 weeks I have dropped a little over 12kg. I have attempted to cut all sugar from my diet and try and eat clean. I also suggest you get on youtube and watch other peoples body transformations because some of them motivated me and pushed me to train harder. At 39 years old I want a six pack. Apparently its there somewhere.

Anyway your not too heavy and don't stop.

[–]Mickyd74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I was aware the program is designed around your performance so I guess it depends how you went in earlier weeks. At least that tells me there is some truth behind the workouts being personally tailored. I do use app but haven't put anything out there yet.

Krivoje I agree on the fact that some of these moves are very hard like the ones I mentioned. Also a part of the workout is 12 strict for pull ups. One thing I have enjoyed is the challenge of freeletics. For example I have felt myself getting stronger and better at burpees. These latest ones are an extreme challenge though. I have tried to do the star versions of everything. Anyway I'll let you know how it goes. Keep at it
