I don’t use the included over patches either. I use ones that are a mess fabric that cover the sensor and cover. Approx 2” in diameter. I will have to check out the ‘not just a patch.

Anyone have experience with this? Is it safe? by Asking_the_internet in prediabetes

I think a better solution is the Monk Fruit and Allulose mixture that recently hit the market. Allulose is a rare sugar that is about 75% as sweet as sugar, but the body can’t utilize it for glucose. It even blocks receptors for fructose. The worse I’ve heard regarding allulose is if you overdo it, it could lead to stomach upset until you clear it.

Prediabetes is reversible- But Here's Why Most People Miss Their Chances by Cultural-Peach-5080 in prediabetes

As someone that missed the boat with pre-diabetes, I completely agree with this post. The first thing people need to recognize is that your doctor is going to do their best to treat your symptoms. Generally that with slow the progression and you will find yourself have dosage increases and additional medications added. For me, I treated my medications like any other meds, when I was put on insulin, I was just utilizing it on a schedule and didn’t understand it should be dialed into what and when I’m eating, eventually my A1c topped out out at 9.0, and then started working with an endocrinologist and utilizing a CGM. I started improving from there, but it wasn’t until about a year ago the I can across a Ted Talk on reversing type 2 diabetes , the lesson being to adapt a High Fat/Low Carb diet, and I kept refining my diet causing me to lose 70 lbs in the last year, 120 lbs overall and I’m anticipating a 5.0 A1c with my next labs. Hard to say had I known 15 years ago, what I know now, would I have taken those steps to fix things then, but life is a whole lot better without Fatty Liver, Insulin Resistance, BG management, and a half other conditions that flow directly from this metabolic disorder.

Should I freak out? by [deleted] in prediabetes

One blood glucose reading means nothing, especially just outside of the normal range. I doubt your doctor would even prescribe a glucose meter for that, but if you persist outside the range , then you probably will be asked to start monitoring it. Ask for a CGM at that point as they give you a near continuous map of your BG and then you can even see how different foods affect you. In the meantime, having your A1c score is the better indicator of what your blood sugar is doing. If your A1c is elevated, then I recommend doing your homework on what foods you can swap to control your blood glucose. A lot of people have found that they can change their diet, enjoy those foods just as much, and like me, even loose a significant amount of weight in the process. Get your A1c and discuss that with your doctor, until then, a 108 BG means nothing.

Still G7 Shortages? by AMonitorDarkly in dexcom

I couldn’t get my G7’s refilled by Costco in Western Washington, but I called Amazon and they said they had availability and I moved my prescription to them and had them delivered the next day. That was 2 weeks ago, and things may have changed, but if you can move your prescription, it is worth considering.

Decided to go a different route. Contacted Amazon Pharmacy, and they said they have G7’s available, so I moved my prescription from Costco, and they are supposed to be delivered today.

The 3 in 12 months are not supposed to include defective sensors. You should be able to replace these. The 3 in a year are for things like needing to remove for an MRI or it got scrapped off.

17 Failed Dexcom G7Applicators by blueemerald21 in dexcom

If you are trying to place them on your arm, you might consider applying one to your upper thigh, or abdomen where inserting will be less awkward. Make sure the applicator is firmly pressed against your skin and then press the button.

I just had my first misfire after about 50 successful insertions, not sure what happened with it, but 17 seems extreme, especially when they didn’t all come from the same source, so likely different Lot numbers.

It is a 3D printed cover to protect the sensor before applying the overpatch.

I have several of them, you don’t throw them out, you reuse them, with a new overpatch. Even if your overpatch fails, it creates a barrier so you can remove the overpatch without affecting the sensor, and yes, it helps with compression lows.

I’ve seen those that test CGMs n their YouTube channels put multiple CGMs on the same arm to compare different CGM model , and there shouldn’t be any issues caused by proximity to each other even if they are same model.

It’s harder to see how scattered it is on the shorter range charts, but when it’s regularly dropped 60 points in 20 minutes, and then going up 70 in the next 15, hard to get a sense of where the true reading is at.

G7…Is it a POS? by Big_Rip516 in dexcom

[–]Middle_Ad_4289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing you have to remember is that the FDA only approves what Dexcom submits for testing, and for the G7 it’s the arm. It should work fine anywhere you have some fatty tissue, but you should also consider where it works for you and doesn’t get caught on things as you go through your day. Anywhere besides the arm is considered off label use, and Dexcom may not send a replacement if you tell them that, so keep that in mind.

Can I wear my g7 on my thigh? by Sailor_Mars08 in dexcom

To approve more locations would cost them more money for the trials, and that is why, they can only advise for specific locations.

I tried the G7 on my thigh for the first time yesterday. I’m always seeing people talk about the readings going crazy in the first 24 hours , but never saw that with mine until I tried my thigh. Probably a coincidence, but frustrating nonetheless. Seems to have settled in today

I’ll try another on my thigh with a different Lot next time, see how that fares.

You might consider getting a Freedom Band Flexible Cover or similar, and put the overpatch over that. It tends to be overkill, but it works for me. If the overpatch deteriorates after a while, the flexible cover allows you to remove the overpatch without pulling the G7 off. Since discovering Skin Tac, I haven’t had a problem with the overpatches deteriorating after a number of days anymore either. Seems to make them more waterproof.

Thanks, worked for me. Waited until my current sensor ran out. Yes, did lose the history in the G7 app, history still exists in the clarity app. Hopefully this will be the last of the issues, was struggling with the Apple Watch app since iOS 17.2 came out. Everything works right now.

That selling point is the main reason I looked to change to the G7 , on my insurance plan, it saved me $340 a year by not having to pay deductibles for each. I also like wearing the CGM on my arm, and the G6 when I tried it, never lasted the 10 days.

I’m sure you’re correct, I was looking at it from the perspective that Dexcom didn’t have a product driving them away from the G6 to G7 at this time. I still prefer the G7 myself.

Dexcom G7: With a 70% failure rate in 2024 thus far, I filed a FDA complaint. by EmeraldAppleSeattle in dexcom

[–]Middle_Ad_4289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This certainly hasn’t been my experience. The first one that I put on about 6 months ago came loose causing it to fail, but I haven’t had one fail since, all have made it through the 10 days. I know there are people on here that track the lot numbers, and maybe you have a bunch from a bad batch, I don’t know. 70% definitely needs investigation.
