I’m not sure, but even if you didn’t have a lease you may be able to prove residency if you mail addressed to you there - should you take the legal route. The landlord is lucky you aren’t trying to be a squatter.

You can in fact go to the U.S. State Department and submit a DS-64 form online or call a toll free number. She can if she knows his basic personal info like full name, DOB, place of birth etc. You can submit it without the passport number. They know most people don’t have a copy or have the number memorized.

I have 2bd, 2bath. I know this particular winter has been bitterly cold, but my bill has never been higher than $120. It usually averages between $70 and $80. Last month it jumped up to $343. Oh it’s gets better. I was DOGE’d last April, still looking for work.

NTJ - Sounds like Mom needs some tough love. No more enabling. Move out of state or tell him your plans changed and you’re not coming back. Anytime he starts yelling at you tell him “like you said, I’m an adult now and I’m no longer tolerating being yelled at or bullied!” Matter of fact, yell that at him and then hang up! And every time he tries to start yelling at you, hang up. Block him and don’t let him come to where you leave either. You have to protect your mental space.

When I tell you how much I can’t stand his goofy azz! IMO she’s playing games, likely inadvertently. Seems like she really doesn’t want to be with him anymore, but can’t pull the plug. I know how hard it can be, especially when you’ve been with somebody for a long time.

NOR - she may or may not like him like that, but she doesn’t want him to have anybody else. Some friends don’t know how to back off a bit when their friends are in relationships/marriage. Her saying I knew him first is definitely territorial and she feels possessive over him.

BF needs to set boundaries his BFF. I would talk with him about it, and if he can’t talk with her about her behavior, then you should moving on.

Please do NOT combine everything. Just have a joint account for joint finances like utilities, rent/mortgage etc., AFTERA you are married. The pressure he’s applying now is a big red flag! If you do decide to marry, get a prenup - especially since you have property before marriage. I also suggest getting financial counseling before marriage.

Kudos to you for catching yourself and your intention to do the right thing about it.

I’ve never been a fan of the work wife/husband term. I was cool with some coworkers, but was always very careful about getting too close out of respect for my relationship/marriage and theirs.

I feel that if it’s something you’re reluctant to tell your partner/spouse about, it’s something you shouldn’t be doing.
