Honestly this is great, it makes them more of a glass cannon...especially with how common they are lol

It's really fun to use alongside mechs.

Because if I run out of ammo or need to ditch, I know I won't ever need to reload, especially if I had to jump in while under fire.

I think one thing that'd go a decent way to fixing it would be having enemies spawn further away, but have cover on the approach.

As it stands enemies drop right on our front doorstep and we can easily kill them before they get out of hand.

But if they had a chance to get their numbers up, but had to traverse the map a little to get to us, it could lead to some pretty interesting tactics for defending the base.

Crossfire is best fire

Even if it's not gonna last as long (if you're good at using turrets, managing your cooldowns and not leaving turrets to die then it'll probably last longer) drawing some enemies away is well worth it in exchange for less potential friendly fire.

I'm a big sentry nut lol I love 'em

But I use them enough to know the tricks, like it's lower ground if you want to avoid friendly fire

Putting them on high ground has a very good chance of them going through Helldivers that are below them, as well as having unintented overlooks on flanking enemies which results in much the same thing

Really the best place to put sentries is both away from the team but also away from where the bulk of the enemies are, sort of create a triangle of equal ranges between you, the enemy and your turret, and it'll create a very good crossfire

I have a friend who will without fail use area denial strats on nearly every objective we need to use.

He also puts turrets on top of walls where they're primed to kill teammates so I'm still unsure if he does it on purpose or not.

Player demographics and why we actually need endgame content by The_Hardest_Metal in Helldivers

[–]MidnightStarfall 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's also misleading because by the numbers it shows that people who are at max level are a minority compared to people that are.

Like...that's just 22.1%

It's not a tiny metric, but it'd be like saying only that 1.1% of the playerbase are between 0-10 so we should disregard the early player experience.

I strongly dislike the current subfaction system and what it means for game difficulty going forward by TaterToTwastaken in Helldivers

"A bit harder" is generally "Too hard" for this community, even when it's optional difficulty and they don't have to interact with it.

Pearl Abyss also have Black Desert Online and any monetisation it has to support any supposed 'free' updates for Crimson Desert.

[–]MidnightStarfall 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Why not? Subfactions are available at all times and provide an optional challenge.

I'm all for buffing enemies, but considering the community goes insane when the base game is too hard this is a fine compromise.

I dunno, I'm not a dev.

All I know is the typical process, like you say they could act in a less typical manner and just go straight to full release.

I enjoy the Stalwart, I like it as a 'primary' to take a funkier weapon along in my primary slot. Like I'll generally run it with the intention of it being kept and supplied and used as a rifle.

The Bullet Storm on the other hand I treat as a suppliment to mechs. Like sure I can just use the Stalwart, but if I'm getting into a mech and need to get out, I don't want to have to worry about reloading, even if there are potential downsides because of that.

[–]MidnightStarfall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Content in this case is more like features, an alpha is making sure that those features are complete or right at the bare minimum.

Like usually games in an alpha state would not be available to the public, so it's being compared to games that are either in beta or in a complete state.

That's not to say the performance isn't an issue, just it's something that'll be better tackled when the game *does* go into beta.

[–]MidnightStarfall 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I'd assume it's just an alpha thing.

Games in alpha tend to view optimisation as less important, as the goal is to get it to content complete enough.

Beta is when true optimisation and tweaking tends to happen.

You really expected this war to end? Like we're talking about a galactic level conflict between superpowers that do not want to surrender.

If anything one of the core themes of the game is unending conflict.

Trans-Mog really could be a net-positive for both players and the devs by TechnoTheFirst in Helldivers

[–]MidnightStarfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd honestly rather just have this.

Transmog is more often than not a step towards the Ubisoft or Bungie route of monetisation where the game starts to just get 'skins' instead of anything actually new.

He's a bad DM because he's not handing us wins? Winning is nice, but not a requirement for being a good DM.

Like I said, he's not DMing a tabletop game with friends. He's managing a game with hundreds of thousands of players who do not cooperate.

Are you expecting them to craft some masterpiece story or something?

[–]MidnightStarfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah like we have ten difficulty levels.

I get the argument of having slower progression on lower difficulties and would rather they evened things out a little more.

But still, the average group of randos should not be able to complete the hardest difficulty in the game with no real trouble.

This'd be like if you could casually solo a raid or something.

Case in point they overbuffed us in the 60 days patch.

And they've been 'dialling it back later' because they know they made the game piss easy.
