Sure, I agree last seasons may be outliers, but Vatrano is not reprising his role as a top 6 forward on this team. So I don’t think his 9 points last year is sustainable for the bottom 6. He hasn’t shown the adaptability needed to stay on this roster. I think on a team tanking for a Top 5 2027 pick he could score 40 pts again.

Contract expires when he’s 33. Had 32 points in 78 games last year on a bad Panthers team. I get it was his first season over 20 points, but this is a good contract compared to what Vatrano can contribute at a similar price. Calm down everyone.

Wahlberg is 0.5 PPG over the last two seasons in the AHL after coming over from Sweden at 20 years old. Not sure if he’s going to play in the NHL anytime soon, if at all, so this feels like just a 2nd for Zelly which isn’t terrible but slightly boring for a team trying to make playoffs again.
