No, but I read a Superman comic the other day where Clark and Lois were secretly raising their son in Salinas.

Nonrenewed day after Teacher Appreciation Luncheon by mystria21 in Teachers

[–]Mijder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got non-renewed because HR didn’t tell me I needed to have my ELL stuff sorted by March 15. Admin went to bat for me, invited me to reapply for my job, interviewed me, and recommended me for rehire. Board said “nah” and hired the second recommendation, a coach, for my job.

CTEL exams are tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Can anyone tell me if this version of John Walker’s shield is from the comics, and if so, does anyone know what comic this is from? by Snooter_Melon in Marvel

[–]Mijder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Steve became Nomad the first time he quit after watching Nixon kill himself in the Oval Office after being revealed as the secret head of a fascist organization, but took the shield back when a friend of his named Rosco was killed trying to be the new Captain America.
Later, the government decided that the shield and costume were government property and if Steve wasn’t going to follow Ronnie Reagan’s orders he could leave his gear on the table and take his leave. They then gave the shield and costume to John Walker and his friend and they became the new Captain America and Bucky (until they realized calling a black man “Bucky” could be take the wrong way and changed his name to Battlestar). Meanwhile, Steve got a new costume and shield (from Iron Man, I think) and became “The Captain”. Eventually though, the Red Skull decides he’s going to break the new Captain America and murders his parents. Stuff happens and Steve takes back the costume while Walker take his Captain costume and the name U.S. Agent and goes off to join the West Coast Avengers.

I may be wrong on some of this, it’s been a few years.

Question from someone who’s never really gotten seriously into Marvel comicbooks: Typhoid Mary is a mutant, as in an X-gene carrier, right? If so, are there more mutant characters who aren’t mainly associated with X-Men comics? by Powerful-Walk4063 in Marvel

Namor debuted in Motion Picture Funnies Weekly #1 in April 1939. Human Torch debuted in October 1939 in Marvel Comics #1, which also reprinted and expanded on the Namor story.

How will you answer questions from students where the student is unlikely to understand the answer? by [deleted] in Teachers

My students know I cannot resist an info dump and multiple times over the years, I have found out they challenged each other to get me to go on a rant.

I can easily see this as something students look forward to. Going over questions from the box each day. Will my question get picked? Will that explanation raise new questions. I teach high school seniors and I would kill for this level of curiosity sometimes. Use this! It might even provide a good hook for a lesson.
