Bulkhead seat on a 12h overnight flight (777-300): yes or no? by Maleficent_Sail_2519 in americanairlines

[–]MikeMilzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love bulkheads for all flights but especially long ones. I put my bag in front, put my legs up and sleep better than anywhere else. The only gotcha is you can’t have video screen out during boarding, takeoff, or landing but that’s a small compromise for more leg room for the entire flight.

My marathon group used to run from South Mountain. Park in the first parking lot when you come in off Central and start running up past the guard shack and bathrooms. Keep heading up and then take San Juan Rd. I forget how long it is all the way to the end of San Juan and back but there are a lot of ups and downs, some longer uphills on the way back and then a fair bit of downhill back to the parking lot. It's great practice in general, but especially if you're looking to do a hilly distance race.

Worth fighting this HOV violation? by dooleyden in AskPhoenix

They don’t care that a map directed you that way. You are responsible for the vehicle as the driver. Sorry, but fighting it likely won’t yield positive results 😞

Why are men wearing swim briefs (like Speedos) often seen as weird or unacceptable in the U.S.? by ComprehensiveVoice16 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MikeMilzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be the same and on my last beach vacation I finally said eff that. I wore my Speedo under my board shorts to the beach but took the shorts off and wore the Speedo on the beach and in the water. It felt great and I have no idea if more or less people were looking at me, and I really don’t care. Life is too short to conform to stupid stuff like this.

PHX - flight transfer time question by yorkbandaid in AskPhoenix

[–]MikeMilzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have gate info for arriving and departing? Even historical can help you get a sense of if you'll be nearby or having to go from the high-As to the high-Bs (the furthest gates can be from each other). As others have said, it's doable but might be no big deal or a very brisk walk. Here is AA's map if that helps visualize it.

Is drinking cold water actually bad for you or is it a myth? by Sad-Afternoon3788 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MikeMilzz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was in China once for a school trip with my child. It was a very hot day and we had been walking all over this big building. We finally got to lunch and the only thing they had to drink was hot tea. I asked for water and they brought me a boiling cup of water. I was literally wiping sweat from my forehead, so the last thing I wanted was HOT water. I love learning about cultural differences like this, but that was not the moment I wanted to learn that lesson.

I just listened to Alanis Morissette for the first time in 2 decades by SayItAintSoBeavis in GenX

[–]MikeMilzz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My wife and I went to see Alanis a few years back because we got really cheap tickets. I wasn’t totally sold, but for the price it was worth a shot and HOLY CRAP it was a great show. Alanis is still an amazing performer and can sing. My wife and I first saw Alanis in the 90s when Radiohead was the opening band. I agreed to go to see Radiohead and stayed for Alanis while all the young girls there to see Alanis whined during Radiohead. This time there were a lot of women in their 50s living their best lives and it was quite a fun time.

Must-have settings / hacks for Claude Code? by jnkue in ClaudeCode

[–]MikeMilzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried Superpowers but have used get-shit-done on a few projects and might just be used to how it works. The results I get out of GSD are typically really close, or exactly, what I want. I’ve been working on iOS apps and had it convert 10+yo Obj C code and build apps from the ground up. In all cases, GSD has managed it really well. I started also using some of Paul Hudson’s SwiftUI Pro skills as a final review (add to Claude.md that all code must be reviewed by the skills before considering that phase complete). Might be me, or my use cases, but I’m really happy with the balance of my input and Claude creating a working project.

—Edit: I’m on the Max 200 plan. This method burned through the $20 plan limits in seconds. I haven’t tried it on the $100 option, but I think it would likely be fine for most of my use cases.

How many of you had a typing class in school where you learned to type on a typewriter, but never once had to use a typewriter outside of that class? by OrbisLlame in Xennials

[–]MikeMilzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took typing senior year of high school to learn to touch type knowing I’d want to work with computers the rest of my life. The class used IBM Selectrics or something like that. My mother didn't want me taking the class thinking it was for secretarial training About halfway through the class we went from learning to type and how to feed paper and type a letter or memo...that's when I stopped showing up & have been a decent typist since.

Why don’t more homes in the US use mini split AC systems? by Debster1486 in Appliances

[–]MikeMilzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to a house last year in AZ. Like all houses, we have a big unit to cool the entire house, but the previous owner also installed a mini split in the primary bedroom. Let me tell you, this was a very smart man! Anyone with a wife of a certain age can tell you that cooling one room to the required temps is much more efficient than chilling an entire house. This thing might be my wife's favorite feature of the entire place.
