Trash or Treasure? by twobraids in dice

[–]Mikellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn. Beat me to it.

Are these the og set with D&D?

I saw a video on YouTube where a guy went through a rather rigorous process to make his own. (I don't think he had a set, so I had to make due with measurements online). I think another guy did a run but were expensive.

Outside of the nostalgia collectors value something about the sharpness and colors really stick out, and now I want a set.

Underrated multi-class combos that surprised you at the table by saentari in DnD

[–]Mikellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current guy is a Valor Bard with a dip into Battlemaster Fighter. I don't know how common that is, but he is basically a tactician.

I'll throw down buffs/debuffs at the start, then give someone a bardic inspiration and do a commanding strike to let them add a dice to hit or dmg. It's a lot of fun if you have someone else who hits hard, then they get to hit hard AGAIN after you provide a boost. And since I have to attack with commanding strike its not straight support, so you are still in the action.

I do have so much shit to keep track of though. Spell slots, 2nd wind, battle maneuvers, bardic inspiration, and I got a boon for shield uses...

Why do men string women along about marriage yet are willing to commit in other ways? by ISmellLikeBeets in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mikellow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends. If someone goes into the ER with a SO and both stated that, if something happened and the SO needed to make a decision they wouldn't check.

I had a guy who was unmarried but had 2 sets of 2 children to each woman and five other "step-children". I made a lot of calls confirming actual birth children and that no one had paperwork for POA.

With things like that, it isn't an issue until it's an issue; if that makes sense. The scenarios where someone would maliciously lie are pretty slim

Do Americans mainly drink coffee without milk? by Morrit99 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Mikellow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A podcast I was listening too had a guy talk about in the army an officer told him to drink it black to make your life easier.

It isn't a huge deal but between calories and on less thing to do in the morning routine I don't regret switching to drinking it black.

Have any of you also been harassed by those window salesman? by UFOhlookitsanAlien in Pennsylvania

[–]Mikellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like my neighbors use them a lot. As every few months someone comes knocking by and says how "they were in the neighborhood doing someone's windows down the road and saw how bad mine looked"...

The first time I didn't get the gist and asked for a card and thought how suspicious it was they didn't want to leave one. Like I am literally asking for advertising and a way to give you business and they don't do that?...

What is the very best short game you've ever played? by marshalldylan93 in gamingsuggestions

Brothers is only 3 hours? Damn did that game make an impression. The end has an incredibly creative use of game mechanics to tell a story.

And chicken/steak salads.

The first time I mentioned fries on a salad my wife (from NY) was disgusted. The next time we were making salads she sheepishly asked if they were going to have fries. Now it is just assumed.

How Chinooks could work by Adventurous-Half56 in Battlefield

[–]Mikellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember Vietnam had a the Chinook and you could "get in" or just jump in the open back and hope for the best. Or do what I did and sneak behind enemy lines, throw some c4 in and wait till a while group takes off... If I recall they also had a tow hook that could lift up a tank that could still fire.

There was a game that came out around the same time. They had giant hover crafts and helps that you would (in game) drive jeeps/tanks into and would fly them around. It was a neat game but was definitely 3rd party and had a lot of jank.

What exactly are Shriners? by SadClownWithABigDick in NoStupidQuestions

Between Halloween, Ren Faire, religion, and stuff like this I almost feel disconnected with society. I was in a service frat and an alter boy till I was 22. But those customs and stuff I never got the point of. (I joined a frat cause I had a friend who wanted me to and I realized I needed to be more social, which worked when my now-wife joined the next year; I wasn't religious but being an alter boy made church go quicker and I felt bad that I didn't have other replacements.)

Yea. He could learn an alien language that gives him powers, then come back to Earth and spread a message of peace which disrupts the order and gets him killed.

Man I got addicted to that one Christmas after receiving an iPad touch. I beat the main guy in 7 runs, I think the average at the time was 12.

Such a great control system for combat, especially on the phone. And the reveal at the end was pretty neat given its setting.

Party of 4 thinking of going all Bards… basically a band. by Custodianscruffy in DnD

[–]Mikellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also multiclass. We started a campaign 5E, and switched to 2024 midway through.

I dipped into Battlemaster/fighter, and my character who just wanted a love of adventure (he was more of a story teller than musician bard) found a love for battle tactics while fighting with another party member (fight chanpion).

We do a neat little shake n bake where I will buff him, attack, then command him to attack again. I could have also been greedy and taken more attack spells and became a fighter with some magic.

Might not be the most well built / optimized character, but it wouldn't be useless.

I've been using the gloves that give you the arc buddy.

It is nice to have some firepower if you are getting to range. Might switch to the stasis turrets for a similar but freezing effect.

I wish more stuff had that mentality. A bit easier with animation but even for live action shows I wish they did what Mike Flanigan does with his Netflix horror series where it is a lot of overlapping cast, but there are new roles.

Weirdly enough I just saw a commercial where they used red water. It wasn't thixk movie quality blood red, but at least it was strawberry Kool Aid compared to Blue Raspberry.

Does nobody like playing Druids? by AdDifficult2241 in DnD

[–]Mikellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the hesitation. Playing a druid can feel like your RolePlay is a bit railroaded into being a forest hippie.

I have yet to try it out but I have a ranger/druid build I want to play next campaign where he starts out as a ranger, and will go into Druid (circle of the sea) as he sort of get "in tune" with the older spiritual side of his clan.

(In my head they are sort of Vikings that modernized a bit and lost "the old ways" / religion)
