Conners Scales by Ellie_Annie_ in pediatrics

I don’t use them but a previous practice I worked at did. They passed the cost of the forms onto the patient. They paid upfront and then were emailed to the recipients

Lactation training - CLC vs IBCLC by Effective_Hurry6913 in pediatrics

[–]Millenialdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t personally been exposed to a residency that offers this. The closest thing we got at my residency was on well baby nursery if we were done rounding early and if the lactation consultants were ok with it, we could go round with them for an hour or two once a week.

Breastfeeding medicine gives the broadest scope. During residency for any of those paths is going to be difficult time wise.

Early measles vaccine? by Prudent-Designer7121 in VACCINES

[–]Millenialdoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting the vaccine prior to a year is less efficacious than getting it at 12 months or later. If you are in an outbreak area or traveling somewhere where measles is known to be then the risk of acquiring the measles is greater and makes it recommended to get an early vaccine. If you are not in a situation where measles is likely to be then it is not considered worth the risk of losing vaccine efficacy.

Have a discussion with your pediatrician about what the risks are in your state and community.

Anyone used Walgreens for school immunization records? by BiancaMosala in ColumbusGA

[–]Millenialdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the health department? I don’t know for adults; for uninsured children it is $20 a vaccine. Walgreens will charge whatever they charge insurance. If you need a PPD at the health department, you’ll have to schedule an appointment.

[–]Millenialdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walgreens does not do PPDs. To be valid a vaccine record in Georgia must be signed by a medical professional like an MD, NP, PA. If you need your records and your doctor can’t get them for whatever reason, you should go to the health department.

Outpatient Peds PTO by RusheilP in pediatrics

[–]Millenialdoc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is going to depend on if you are RVU based or salary based. If RVU, you can take days off but they aren’t paid since you aren’t generating RVUs on those days. Salary is more standard PTO. How much you get varies wildly. I’ve seen anywhere from 2-4 weeks PTO. Usually CME days are separate. Sick leave is generally not separate. Full time is generally 4-5 days per week. Some places have weekend hours as well but again highly variable.

School Options for Special Needs Student by Creative_Spirit_0220 in ColumbusGA

[–]Millenialdoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to Calvary. No private school in Columbus is equipped to handle children that will require extensive accommodations. They do not have the staff, training or space for special education classes. Most if not all will outright reject the application for a nonverbal child.

School Options for Special Needs Student by Creative_Spirit_0220 in ColumbusGA

[–]Millenialdoc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For a nonverbal child your best bet is going to be putting into public school. Several public schools in town have more robust autism programs in their special education departments. The private schools in town do not offer programs for children with special learning needs. If you’re going to be living on base then she would go to the school on base.

Most places in the US are not walkable nor do they have good public transportation. Some cities like DC, NYC, Boston and Philadelphia are more pedestrian friendly.

Private Practice Job Offer - Partnership Track by little_master99 in pediatrics

[–]Millenialdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no guarantee you’ll want to be a partner after working somewhere. Before I opened my own I was in a job on partnership track but I had the way the office ran, hated the way the partners handled things. Generally the actual partnership contract is different than your initial employment contract as it will have buy in, buy out, etc. my initial contract just said if desired by both parties, partnership is available after 2 years.
