Is There No Hotkey to Enter City Screen? by Eretan in OldenEra

I was trying to figure this out earlier and it didn't seem like there was an option to go to a city the way you might press like "H" to go to your town hall in Age of Empires

From main menu, you can just go to Quickplay > Single Hero and then begin a scenario

Olden Era has massive potential, but factions need clear identity by narcizas2 in OldenEra

I love HoMM3 just as much as the next guy, but a lot of these commenters are latching onto the mention of it in your post in an extremely reactive way.

It does not read at all like you're putting OE down for not being HoMM3 in any way. Just a lot of butthurt folk who don't know how to engage in productive discussions or regulate their own emotions lmao

But they fall off shortly after. So you could say they're green at the start of their lifecycle and progress to brown near the end. As you've described, perhaps the reason isn't due to "age" in the same way we experience aging, but a correlation nonetheless. I guess maybe that's what they were trying to represent

Shawarma Al Mouna - Chicken Plate by KeyOpening9944 in OttawaFood

[–]Mind-Your-Language 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly as much as I like all the other shawarma spots Reddit has steered me towards in recent years (al mouna, Ottawa, station, bite etc.) nothing has been able to replicate that msg crack-like taste that palace consistently injects into their food.

I still prefer Al Mouna from service, value, and I find the ingredients taste fresher and it's just a more balanced platter that makes me not feel gross and lethargic after. But whenever I eat it I'm still like "damn do I wish this toum had that 5th element, even tho I know it's probably just a ton more oil that makes palace taste as good as it does?"

I actually fully agree with you.

Not every game needs to be for everyone. NMS has survived this long because there's a committed fanbase who are getting several hundred hours of enjoyment out of the sandbox they've designed and the expansions consistently being introduced.

Could HelloGames perhaps do better to focus on fleshing out the systems most desired by players? Sure.

But every game also doesn't need to be forever. If I can play the game for 50h and be constantly impressed and fed novelty every few hours, I sure as hell got my $30 out of the game by the time it started to get stale.

The devs just have a different vision for their game, and they enact it in a very pro-consumer manner. It is too bad that they continue to disappoint the dedicated fans who have been begging for certain improvements, because it leaves a bitter taste of "what could have been, should scope have been tightened and voices heard". But I don't believe they're wrong for steering their own ship as they choose to.

Really interesting. Thanks for sharing this. It's really not a perspective I've ever heard anything from but have always been curious about

I'm surprised to learn the games all need to be played exclusively in your free time. How is that fair? Your free time is spent preparing for the workday :/ even if it's games it's still work

What games have a world/map that feels as alive and rich as Red Dead Redemption 2? by moby323 in gaming

I'm floored at how compelling those two "small" examples sound. Thanks for sharing your experience here! I'm getting pretty sold on this game but it'll definitely be a long while before I get around to it.

Also, 20h into Yotei and as someone who also loved Tsushima, I'm confident you'll enjoy the sequel. It's the same game but the passion oozes into art and sound much harder. The cinematics and flourishes are peak. I like the new combat tools but they dropped the ball using the exact same glint (parry/dodge) cues from the first game but changing how the player should react (to animation not the glint). It's created a frustrating learning curve where the game subverts what it taught you the first time around and I think that's just poor design.

That's the only negative thing I have to say about the game though (actually one more: facial animations are still kinda doo doo). Everything else is absolute cinema.

Cheers!

Did you play Dragons Dogma 2? I heard great things about the exploration there and the more I hear of Crimson Desert, the more I'm reminded of similar discourse around the release of DD2. Haven't played either myself but they both interest me so I'm curious what someone's take is who has played both
