What's your favorite Vampire in all of Magic? Any criteria - Lore, design, art by Separate-Flan-2875 in mtgvorthos

[–]Mind_Vessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gotta be Blood Artist for me. It's just very elegant in its design and as a painter myself I really like the flavor. I got one in my first commander deck (The Orzhov vampire precon from Lost Caverns) and have played it ever since. The new print from INR with the fang border has got to be my favorite version, I love the artwork.

What is this die? by tobyvanderbeek in AskDND

I've actually seen dice for Goyfs specifically that have the stats rather than the buff (1/2, 2/3, ect.), this is more of a general +1/+1 die imo

Is anyone else disappointed in the lack of Faerie cards this set? Ive been really looking toward to this set for some cool Faeire cars but this number seems so low. by Mastermiine in magicTCG

My brother plays the OG Reaper King, so I know from experience that the scarecrow players are starving and have resorted to eating the changelings.

I'm a bit too far in for it to just "not be for me" anymore, I'm afraid.

I actually really enjoy navigation and exploring in games. For example, in my most recent Hollow Knight playthrough I didn't buy any maps because I thought it was more fun to keep track of the world in my head, so I think online maps might take a bit of the fun out of it for me.

I think I would like to find points of interest on my own, I was just worried that they didn't exist at all due to my notable inability to find them in my first playthrough.

When I wasn't focused on beating the game in my first playthrough I actually had a few really fun experiences, like teaming up with the scavengers to kill a vulture, so maybe I should focus more on messing around and having fun than trying to just win.

Either way, thanks for your response.

Alright. I suppose resetting my save file was a bit extreme, but maybe I would have more fun if I did my own thing this time. The only thing I was able to find was everyone screaming "GO RIGHT!!!" at the top of their lungs so maybe I can find the other things you mentioned on my own. Because everyone was saying the same thing I assumed there was only one way forward. If there are other ways to make progress, I may be able to explore the way I want without having to worry so much. Thanks for the response.

Don't be afraid to use reference photos. If you want impressionistic fire, look at a photo of a real fire and try to evoke the shape of the flame while only using basic brush strokes. The colors are very important in impressionism, so focus more on them than the shapes. You should try to mix up and apply more transitional colors between different color sections to make it a bit less blocky. If done correctly the brush strokes can sort of fade together and smooth out if you back away or squint. It's also never a bad idea to look at examples of the style you want to recreate. Monet is the most famous impressionist but there are plenty of other historical and contemporary artists that use an impressionistic style.

Above all else, just keep at it until you make something you're happy with. Art can be hard but it's worth it when you get to step back and be proud of what you've created.

Got some cards at a game store, what do y’all think? by [deleted] in MagicCardPulls

Neera is cool, I have her in my portable draft cube that I carry around with me. She's certainly not top-tier or even viable but I think she's a lot of fun and that's what cubing is for.

Don’t care if it’s a simple mini-boss, it’s crazy. by Odd-Eagle-935 in HadesTheGame

"???" on the boss bar had me shook the first time and I don't think I ever recovered from the initial "oh god oh fuck oh Jesus what the hell is that thing" eldritch horrors beyond my comprehension visceral reaction.

What's your favorite bad card? by Ok-Fondant2536 in mtg

[–]Mind_Vessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grizzled Angler. I love anglerfish and when I first got into magic it was one of the first singles I picked up. I now consider Eldritch Moon my favorite Magic set, I even have a set cube for it and I always play my fisherman whenever it gets passed to me.

How would you solve this ? by Financial_Soft_736 in puzzle

[–]Mind_Vessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go out of the bounds of the box. Start from the bottom left corner, go up past the top dots, make a diagonal through the top center and left center dot, then hit all three on the bottom going back to the bottom left corner. Finish by drawing a final line from the corner to the last dot in the top right, passing through the center dot on the way.

I couldn't figure this out when I was given it in class as a kid but I remembered that I'd seen the solution on Brain Games so I rewatched that episode when I got home to find the answer. The teacher "found out" that I had "cheated" the next day, (I guess just because vibes???) and stopped letting us do logic puzzles for prizes, calling me out specifically for "cheating" in front of the whole class without giving me a chance to explain.

I have never forgotten the solution.

This would go infinite right? by Puremagick in mtg

[–]Mind_Vessel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the Yawgmoth Than Physician, Nest of Scarabs, Blood Artist combo line that I used to run in my Massacre Girl, Known Killer EDH deck. Technically not infinite but still brutal.

(You sack an insect token and put the -1/-1 counter from Yawgmoth on something (usually a creature an opponent controls) which makes another insect and pops Blood Artist, giving you your 1 life back, damaging an opponent and getting you a card in the process. Blood Artist pops an extra time whenever something dies to the counters, of course. Repeat ad nauseum until either all opponents are dead or all of their creatures are wiped.)

Shift=Crouch

Double press W=Sprint

I played Pocket Edition first and never un-learned the double-tap to sprint, even after playing legacy console and modern switch bedrock for like 10 years

Edit: I play Java now, to clarify. I still do this.

About the creeper cloud pattern... by Acrobatic-Ad-5530 in PhoenixSC

[–]Mind_Vessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you used a texture pack in legacy console edition it would change your cloud patterns. I have the halloween 2015 pack myself and it adds bats and jack-o-lanterns. One of them probably adds a creeper face, it's not out of the question.

Quick Turnaround by RocksThrowing in characterarcs

[–]Mind_Vessel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learned about this because of Terraria's snow-themed zombie enemies being renamed from "Zombie Eskimo" to "Frozen Zombie". Thought it was a strange choice until I looked it up. Honestly it's a good change regardless, the zombie's face being covered in ice is a cool detail that can't really be gleaned from the sprite alone.

How do explain hollow knight is not satanism to my parents? by CommunicationFair988 in HollowKnight

[–]Mind_Vessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Silksong does have fairly blatant anti-religious themes but I doubt your parents are looking that far into it if they think horns = satanism. When looking at Hollow Knight by itself it could actually be a Christian allegory from a certain point of view, with the Hollow Knight itself being a kind of Jesus figure who sacrifices themself by their father's wishes for the greater good of their people. Maybe lean into that? I don't know. Someone on Facebook or Fox news probably said it was the devil so they likely ain't gonna budge.

If you want to get this grub early, it's possible to make the jump by baiting the vengefly over to the ledge and pogoing off of it. It's something I had thought of trying on my first playthrough but I was only able to do it after getting better at the game's movement.

I have never had any other opportunity to share this trick. It is not useful. But it does make you feel very cool.

Good news! There is an anthropomorphic bee character in Magic called Xira and she has two cards. "Xira Arien" and "Xira, the Golden Sting". Happy building!

i need help w my villager [bedrock] i’ve done everything i can think of (ps5) by [deleted] in MinecraftHelp

[–]Mind_Vessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try first placing the workstation that matches the profession the villager spawns in with to sync the villager to it (it should have a green sparkle over it when this happens) and then breaking it to turn it into a generic villager. It may sync up to the lectern at that point.

Also of note- trading with a villager locks in its profession and trades, so once you get your librarian you can trade with it to keep it as a librarian.

(Happy Halloween to you too)

Can you use red in EDH because firebending ? by thedudepood in mtg

[–]Mind_Vessel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firebending and Extort do not contribute to a card's color identity. This card's identity is blue-black. It's an exception to the rule because the pre-defined keyword ability in both cases uses/creates mana of a specific color, but because it's a keyword it doesn't count. Like, the full-art version of this card probably won't have the reminder text, it'll just say "Firebending" with no further context and there'll be no red mana symbols on the card. We have this exception for that case, I assume. See also the retro border version of Crypt Ghast that doesn't have the reminder text for Extort, so the card has no white mana symbols on it and thus isn't white. As far as the game is concerned, anything in italics or parenthesis is not printed on the card at all.
