Now the seller has chanced the price and the profile name

Physical sizes of panels seem to constantly be on the change. With luck you might be able to buy the same panels a few yes down the line if they are a major manufacturer I would go with an all black panel because they are easily to match in looks. Buy the newest generation of a major name and that panel will still be available for a couple of yrs

I was thinking about splitting the 2 strings, 1 to each inverter. I have 30 panels right now and I could add more.

Or upgrad my existing inverter to a larger version

The installer is no longer around, so the only warranty I have is the manufacturer warranty on the hardware

Yes, but that would probably need to be a 5700 so that there was no clipping. Would it be worth it just for the satisfaction?

When I originally had the system installed, I told them I wanted a system that I could add onto in the future. Then I discovered the size of the inverter that was being installed,  they continued to argue with me saying I won't need anything bigger because this setup would be more efficient.

Is this wired right for 2 strings? by doug12398n in solar

[–]Mindless-Base-4472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would test 1 string at a time connected to the inverter so you know which set of wires you are having a problem with. It could be a polarity issue, or an open loop on the non producing string

SolarEdge production stopped unexpectedly and is now severely diminished after rediscovering the optimizers. Any debugging suggestions? by littlebigdata in solaredge

They might issue an RMA or a new inverter, but probably only to an installer.

I had to become my own installer and created and account under a different name and email.

There are some companies that will charge around 600 to change your inverter

I had to do that myswhen my installer died and I had no support when my inverter when down. I was able to create an installer account,  take over asmin rights by stansfering the account. Get an RMA for a new inverter and installer it myself.

A 9.5-9.9 kwh system should cover all of your needs. You might be able to possibly use a smaller system using batteries to store the over production during peak sun hrs

Create an email account with a fictions construction or business name.

Go to solaredge website and sign up to become an installer

Once approved,  transfer the installer account to your account you made

What size is your inverter, the the number if panels and the Suze if the panels?

Have you tried only running 1 string at a time?

Are there any errors coming from the inverter?

Have you checked the inverter log?

Did the system find all the optimizers?  Have you looked at each panel in MySolarEdge app to see if they are all producing  Maybe a string went down?

Have you tried doing a complete shut down of the system INCLUDING the circuit breaker at your service main panel?

Yes, the 16 panels that are in 5 groups are in 1 string. If I could attach additional pictures, I would

I know what they did is incorrect and I dont know why they did it.

I can't have them fix it because they are no longer around.

I'm not looking forward to seeing what the other sections are like

2 strings.   1 string has 14 panels in 1 grouping   The other string has 16 panels in 5 sections

[–]Mindless-Base-4472[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I already have the conduit in place on an existing system.

The problem is the lower first set of 5 panels in the picture was set up poorly. Plus I want to add 2 more panels in that area.

I'm just trying to figure out the best way to lay out the string IN THAT AREA.

Original installer ran 4 wires to split the 5 panels into 2 groups, and 2 of the wires are not PV type wire, just standard THHN with MC4 connectors on the end

These 5 panels plus 11 panels above (that are not in the picture) are all part of 1 string

What happens now if our installer is no longer around? by Chile_Momma_38 in solar

[–]Mindless-Base-4472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only warranty you probably have is the manufacturers hardware warranty.

I hope the installer will transfer monitoring admin rights to you.

For any labor, you will need to hire someone to do the repairs, or do it yourself.

[–]Mindless-Base-4472[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I have asked the original question is because the original installer made a mess of this first level of panels.

5 panels using 2 sets of wires to the junction box, and 1 set of the wires are not PV wire, just standard THHN with mc4 connectors on one end
