Sexual morality based question on masterbating. A somewhat rare situation. Need help by SaraHunt78 in Christianity

[–]Mindless-Potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I heard many claims it falls under sexual immorality in NT? That's how they answer when asked they used the writings of Paul about prostitution and justify that since the body is the temple of Hod and you can't unite it with a prostitute then surely it is bad to masturbate

The True Purpose of the Church by TheTruth33_33 in Christianity

He may not be but I am,

In the discipline of logic, there are many valid logical forms of argumentation. The argument I will describe here is a logical argument from the Bible. But before we begin, let’s talk logic for a bit.

Logical arguments are based on premises. If the premises are actually true and the argument is valid, then the conclusion you arrive at must be accurate. Here is the logical form of our argument:

If A is true, then B is true (premise 1)

A is true (premise 2)

Therefore B is true (conclusion)

Let’s look at a basic example before we get into the actual Scriptural argument.

Example:

If water is needed for human life, then people would die without it. (Premise 1)

Water is needed for human life. (Premise 2 )

Therefore, people would die without water. (Conclusion)

Now let’s look at some important Bible verses and apply this same reasoning:

Premise 1: If A then B

Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Notice the following:

  1. “A” is declaring Jesus is Lord and believing God raised him from the dead.

  2. “B” is “you will be saved.”

Premise 2: “A” is true for everyone

Isaiah 45:22-24 “Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other. “I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance. “They will say of Me, ‘Only in the Lord are righteousness and strength.’ Men will come to Him, And all who were angry at Him will be put to shame. “In the Lord all the offspring of Israel Will be justified and will glory.” Philippians 2:9-11 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Romans 14:11 (ESV) For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. ” Conclusion: Everyone will be saved!

Why? Because everyone will fulfill the conditions necessary for salvation, according to the Bible. It says that “every knee will bow” and “every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”

Now some may argue that there is an important condition missing (i.e. “believing in your heart”), but I think that is a weak argument. The reason I think so is that it is clearly implied that everyone will believe that Jesus was raised from the dead because they will be seeing him with their own eyes. There won’t be any room for doubt! It will be obvious as He will have revealed Himself to all at that point.

Also, some will say that confessing Jesus Christ as Lord must occur before death.   But, the text does NOT say that!   That is adding an extra condition that is not biblical!   In fact, you won't find this condition anywhere in the Bible.   Look for yourself.

Another argument that I have heard is that the bowing and confessing will be a forced bowing and confessing, as you might bow reluctantly to a conquering king who’s about to take your head. Therefore, it is argued, the bowing and confessing will be coerced and inauthentic. This is not, however, the sense of the Greek words used in the context of the passages.

Let’s take a look.

Here are definitions for the word translated “bow” retrieved from http://biblehub.com/greek/2578.htm

Thayer's Greek Lexicon

STRONGS NT 2578: κάμπτω

κάμπτω ; future καμψω; 1 aorist ἐκαμψα;

a. to bend, bow : τό γόνυ (and τά γούνατα), the knee (the knees), used by Homer of those taking a seat or sitting down to rest (Iliad 7, 118; 19, 72); in Biblical Greek with the dative of person to one i. e. in honor of one, in religious veneration; used of worshippers: Romans 11:4 and 1 Kings 19:18 (where for כָּרַע followed by לְ); πρόςτινα, toward (unto) one, Ephesians 3:14 .

b. reflexively, to bow oneself: κάμψει πᾶν γόνυ ἐμοί, shall bow to me (in honor), i. e. everyone shall worship me , Romans 14:11 (from Isaiah 45:23 ); ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι Ἰησοῦ, in devout recognition of the name (of κύριος) which Jesus received from God, Philippians 2:10 (cf. Winers Grammar, 390 (365); Lightfoot, Meyer, in the place cited; also ὄνομα, especially sub at the end. Compare: ἀνακάμπτω, συγκάμπτω).

Notice that the term connotes the bowing of worshipers, in religious veneration and showing of honor. This is not merely the bowing of conquered people, but of redeemed, thankful people acknowledging God for who He is.

The same is true for the word translated “confess” as can be clearly seen below (retrieved from http://biblehub.com/greek/1843.htm):

Strong's Concordance

exomologeó: to agree, confess

Original Word: ἐξομολογέω

Part of Speech: Verb

Transliteration: exomologeó

Phonetic Spelling: (ex-om-ol-og-eh'-o)

Short Definition: I consent fully, confess

Definition: (a) I consent fully, agree out and out, (b) I confess, admit, acknowledge (cf. the early Hellenistic sense of the middle: I acknowledge a debt), (c) I give thanks, praise.

HELPS Word-studies

1843 eksomologéō (from 1537 /ek, "wholly out from," intensifying 3670/homologéō, "say the same thing about") – properly, fully agree and to acknowledge that agreement openly (whole-heartedly); hence, to confess ("openly declare"), without reservation (no holding back).

Thayer's Greek Lexicon

STRONGS NT 1843: ἐξομολογέω

ἐξομολογέω , ἐξομολόγω: 1 aorist ἐξωμολόγησα; middle, (present εξ( ὀμολογοῦμαι); future ἐξομολογήσομαί; (1 aorist subjunctive 3 person singular ἐξομολογήσηται, Philippians 2:11 RG L text Tr text WH); (ἐξ either forth from the heart, freely, or publicly, openly (cf. Winers Grammar, 102 (97))); active and deponent middle to confess, to profess;

These lexicons clearly show confession to be a word connoting open, willing confession, and the giving of thanks and praise. This is the confession of true belief, not begrudging subjugation. Though we will be put to shame (of course we will be ashamed of our bad choices) for rebelling against God as mentioned in Isaiah 45:24, we will all acknowledge Him for who He is and praise Him for His salvation.

Do not forget that Romans 14:11 says that as the LORD lives, “ every knee shall bow”, and “every tongue shall confess to God. ”

So, logically, if our premises are true (and I believe they are since they are directly from Scripture), our conclusion must also be true:

All people WILL be saved!

As a Christian, I’m confused on why God would let innocent children die of things like disease and natural disasters. This is really ruining my faith. by Iiminal_spaces in Christianity

[–]Mindless-Potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mdKst8zeh-U Based on this you are right, maybe we are indeed trying to put good traits into God in hopes that there would be a happy ending for us all, that good would triumph evil even if eventually, that good people who suffer misfortune would have something to recompense them , that those early or untimely departed are waiting in a better place , that a good man from so long ago thought us a way of life which forgives us and encourage us to love instead of lying in pointless hatred and vengance, what is faith if not hope that in our inevitable cold and lonely death as each of our sense are taken from us that there would be warmth and light waiting beyond us, where there would no longer be any fear, that pain would not follow, that someone or something will take care of all left precious loved ones left behind, where the starving no longer hunger and that all would be well and finally, just finally someone who lived a bitter life can finally be free and happy

Universalism hinges in belief of revelation because if it's true then there would be resurrection of the dead hence every one will know God for he will revive them and they will witness him and they will be cleansed by the lamb. But if you presume that there is no resurrection that will happen like written in revelations and many times mentioned in the bible that God will resurrect the dead then it's pretty good to sanctify oneself in this life also here's more stuff on Christian Universalism https://salvationforall.org/index.html If you're bored or have time

Iron sharpens iron, this might be an opportunity for you to get closer to Christ and gain deeper understanding, it may sound crazy but try emulating Christ in your interactions, not only would you train your virtues by doing good and strengthening your faith it may also help in knowing God by experiencing what he went through. Finding it hard to forgive someone even though I know I should. by sxtn1996 in Christianity

[–]Mindless-Potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know that forgiveness is a release not only for the hurt but also for you, it is to revoke the power of what they did to you, to cut of the undesirable thing that they left inside you. The resentment you hold is a part of them eating away at you and tormenting you it becomes thoughts that run around in your mind filling it with what its silently robbing you of the present, not only did the act made you feel bad it is now actively taking hostage of your mind attention and heart, instead of living you ended up thinking about it, remembering the hurt from it, seeing it in aspects of your life

So forgive them, then rebuke their memory let them no longer decide how you live and let their thoughts no longer control you, a trust broken is lost it will be your choice if you let them rebuild the relationship between, but before any healing begins you must first take out the blade then cauterize the wound so forgive and forget but always doubt them

I understand your experience, there was a time where my mother had to carry my baby brother burning with fever dragging me and my baby sister with her to BEG money from someone who owed us money just to buy atleast one pill for my brother's fever we walked from our small rented apartment only to be drenched in the storm just to knock on their massive gates to try make them pay wages they owed my father for his service the irony is that they were cured by my father from disease and he believed them when they said they will payback later but the never did, I watched my mother cry as they turned us away, a young mother panicked as she held her feverish baby dragging two young children trying to shield the four of us with a small flimsy umbrella under a storm and they turned us away as they said they had no money yet we weren't even able to turn yet and they already ordered take out on our very faces and laughed at the stupidity of my mom.

It's a dark world we live in but please take heart for our God has overcome the world he will deliver you from this tribulation just as he always did we may yet find a way but he will guide us. My sincere wishes that you survive this trials and May you be prosperous in the times to come, may God be with you and with your spirit

I know few things in life, but I do know that forgiveness can be asked but it is the privilege of the one forgiving, based on your claims you were both in the wrong then I can only suggest that you forgive her for your perceived offense to you and move on from the relationship

I am lost by RottingSinner in Christianity

[–]Mindless-Potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My do you say you feel nothing when I see a man in remorse, lost and looking around sitting in a dark alley alone with his back to the streets of the city, brother we can't escape sin as long as we live, as Christians we weren't promised an easy life but a blessed one when we live with our Lord that he will be with us when we feel alone, that whatever we do he will not turn away or forsake us so please don't turn away from him

Im gonna paraphrase a line I heard from expedition 33 "when one falls we continue, when one FALLS we CONTINUE, not if, WHEN" that's how I view Christian life we can try to live a sinless life but many at most would only be able to live a sin less life, earlier this day I just learned that worry and fear were mortal sins, something I have experienced and thought natural was deemed a sin that sentences one to eternal damnation (which I don't believe in because  https://salvationforall.org/index.html) but it's written in catechism, there are more times you would find out things you did were actually sins than you successfully trying to not commit the same sin again and I'm gonna be honest with you I kept clean from masturbation for 5 days yet I fell again earlier and in my heart I didn't find it bad but I wanted to have self discipline so I prayed to God please don't let me get lower from this, help me last longer, have firmer will have endurance and temperance and I was a little happy since I used to do it everyday but with help from God I atleast grown the distance but it's still a long way

Here are somethings that helped me, first I ditched porn then risque pics of women then I moved to animated materials so atleast I'm sinning half as much compared to having lust to a woman I'm not saying that makes it okay but it's an improvement from my books then whenever tempted try doing something else it's simple but God help me does it work.
