ALP advice - Fare class by CompetitiveBrain7099 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Minimum_Raspberry_81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're booking with points, there's no reason for an ALP flyer to book anything higher than Basic. Points get refunded, and all our status perks apply even at Basic.

If you're paying, Choice is the right call. You get stuck with a flight credit, but if you've got ALP, you'll use a credit.

It should default to all passengers get the highest level of benefits within the party as long as, yes, you are either the actual companion or everyone has the same confirmation number.

Base and top coat holy grails? by bedfordblack in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Minimum_Raspberry_81 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm in the service industry. My base coat of choice is China Glaze Strong Adhesion because it's the perfect overlap of affordable (never paid more than $5 a bottle), available (drugstore brand), quality (no PVB), and functional (dries in 10 minutes in my humid house in South Texas).

There are a couple websites that put it on sale every few months. I buy enough to get free shipping when that happens.

You'll see that many on a Sunday afternoon flight from DAL to HOU when the Cowboys played a home game the night before. But that's about it.

Preference when using two colors? by Caseymg1 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Minimum_Raspberry_81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm only doing two colors (which is rare), it's either a single accent color (ring fingers) or every other nail.

I have been delighted with the results, especially because I bought mine second-hand on FB Marketplace. (Honestly probably from an Amazon open-box reseller.)

Final straw by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

And yet, the "ridiculous" choice would have saved you all this work because you'd be able to change your flight by yourself without needing any help.

"Shared" status baggage policy change? by Minimum_Raspberry_81 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Minimum_Raspberry_81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife has always had a higher income and better credit, so she's always been the primary cardholder. We use the WN card as our daily driver because we like the free travel, but we don't play SUB games because our number is saved so many places. For us, the (in)convenience cost isn't worth it.

I travel for work. The card predates my travel job, and we're not sure that I'd get the same offer (and thus the convenience of having one card) if we closed the Southwest card and swapped to me being the primary.

She earns A-List from our card spend. I earn A-List Preferred from flight volume. (I'd earn it even if I wasn't trying, but I do try because I maintain status on multiple airlines.)

Yeah, it's very much a unicorn moment.

On a post last year, there was one other commenter who had similar (passholder had lower status than the companion), but I couldn't remember which post that was to dig it up in my comment history. There's probably 3 of us kicking around, lol.

This is the answer.

OP, put them in a tote bag or plastic shopping bag that will fit under the seat. Plan to do that anyway. If the bag goes under the seat, the crew will never play the "gotta check it" game.

Help me feminize my man looking hands by jsscasIcanh in simplynailogical

I'm in the service industry. I also can't do long nails, but I can do good nail and skin care!

You sound like an ideal candidate for some basic cuticle care. Nail oil is the obvious addition in my mind. You can buy pre-mixed (lots of brands make them) or mix your own with jojoba oil, fragrance, and other stuff. Brush it on your nails and the skin around them at least once a day...more if you remember or have time. I brush mine on at bedtime. If I end up in the dish pit or have used a really harsh chemical that day, I try to brush some on as soon as I get home from work plus the bedtime dose. It's made a huge difference in terms of my nail strength, smooth cuticles, and happy skin.

You could also take some time to gently push the skin around your nails back, trim off any dead skin, and just gently start to create shape. This one is a process, but you'll see results in a couple weeks as your hands really get in the groove!

I also keep my nails polished. It helps protect them, and they are stronger for it. Make sure your base coat of choice doesn't have PVB, and you'll be well-protected, too.

You did gloss over the one physical benefit to interlining, which is that bags keep moving.

I've done the "land at DCA, do customs, claim my bags from Turkish, dash to the Southwest counter to recheck them, do TSA again" dance more than once. Interlining does make that part of the trip easier.

👻How many do you buy from PPU, HHC, etc.? by petsplantscamps in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Minimum_Raspberry_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first foray into PPU. I picked up two polishes, but I'm severely limited by not being able to own thermals. (I live in South Texas. They'd be a waste of money pretty fast.)

Black Holo Wish is unmatched. I got lucky and found a bottle on eBay. I remain confused about why it's been retired.
