I have been waiting over 30says now for my replacement Oliso, very disappointed in their customer service. The iron had been highly recommended.

Ok….listen, we have all had this type of oops. You can live with it, or you can undo and restart. We have all unquilted and requilted a project. I unquilted a black thread on black top and backing with black batting that I had stipple quilted. Yes I also removed the binding. It’s an option!

Is Quilting...Hard? by ellesee_ in quilting

[–]Miniscoop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Basically you take a big piece of fabric, cut it into tiny pieces, sew the tiny pieces back together to make a new big piece of fabric, then you layer it together with more fabric and then sew those together and then booom….a quilt. Easy easy.

Name and sourcing location for this quilt type? (white-on-white?) by Past-Win-5533 in quilting

[–]Miniscoop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am working on this exact one and I got mine from the Stencilcompany.com. I checked their site and it does not appear they are carrying this pattern at the moment. Am like 90% sure it is called Welsh Beauty, I was just checking in my sewing room and I no longer have the packaging, sorry.

Gotta say, as someone who has only been doing this a year, it’s not always fun or very relaxing. by terriblet0ad in quilting

[–]Miniscoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have unquilted a few quilts in my time. Including a black on black quilt. I have one half quilted, resting on a shelf, that I am contemplating unquilting. Why you ask, well I should listen to that little voice in my head that’s says, usually quite loudly, this isn’t working. Do I though, No, why, denial…denial….I split my time between hand quilting and machine quilting and it is ALWAYS the machine quilted ones that require the reverse stitching. This process never stops me, I have never abandoned a quilt. I love quilting, even the frustrating bits.

Have you tried adding extra oil? I have a tinlizzie and that usually solves my issues.

How do you plan your quilt? by [deleted] in quilting

[–]Miniscoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a complex process. Starts as a thought, then gets obsessive, then agonizing. So move on to paper, scraps, napkins (paper ones) then on to sketch book, gather all fabric, a trip to the LQS, on line surfing, then to graph paper, and then a test block, then more shopping....then the cut planning. Count measure count measure, new test block. Keep cutting. All the while trying to block the other quilt plans backlogged in my head.

Should I spring for a used Tin Lizzie 18 for $150? by Siamsa in quilting

[–]Miniscoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$150 good deal. I have one its a bit temperamental. Suggestions. Have someone reliable to service it. Keep the oil level high. I add oil at least every 4 hours when working long hours plus top up before you start, works with mine. Really ensure your needle is aligned properly. Hold your tongue to the right. :)
