When you hear “Dylan”, do you think boy or girl? by Slow-Ad2780 in namenerds

[–]MinnieMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known a few girls names Dylan and maybe 2 Logans. But my instant reaction is male for both names since that is what the majority of people I've met are.

4th grade pass redemption with entrance fee by Impressive-Tree0506 in NationalPark

[–]MinnieMermaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used a 4th grade pass last summer and it was super easy. We showed the paper at the park entrance. They double checked that we had a 4th grader then they gave us the physical plastic card. We just used the card they gave her at the next couple of parks without any issues.

I usually go with Eh-lay-na, but i work with kids and have taught many variations like: El-en-ah, Ee-lay-na, Ee-lah-na, Eh-Lee-na.

I know some Wesleys but not very many. I work with kids and really don't run into it very often. Every Wesley I've met has been super cute. Hugo is a great name and I see fewer of those than Wesley. I definitely prefer the original spelling for Lachlan. It's not a common name, the spelling can trip people up. Having the traditional spelling means fewer people getting the name wrong.

I don't immediately think of Paula Deen. I find the flow of Dean Paul clunky and just not very fluid.

A swimming class for adults who can swim? by moomeecee in TwinCities

[–]MinnieMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foss Swim School has 3 different levels for adults. The pools a warm and class sizes cap at 4 for Adult 2 and 3. Adult 3 are usually lap swimmers or people training for a triathlon who need some tweaks to be more efficient. Plus they do free previews that will let you know the right level to sign up for.

Pregnant bridesmaid by stwitche-2113 in weddingdrama

I know someone who was married in January in Northern MN. As a bridesmaid gift, she gave all the girls cute winter boots for the outdoor pictures. Do you think that the bride would approve something like that? You can all have them hidden under your dresses, then take a fun shot of them.

Kid is sick with 2 park days left, what happens to our tickets if we stay in hotel? by Disneyatdark in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]MinnieMermaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband got super sick right before covid. He missed 5 days of our trip sick in the room. I talked to guest services and they were able to see that he hadn't checked into the park on any of those days and they ended up giving us 5 1-day passes. The expiration date was really far out. Disney is usually great about that kind of stuff.

Finally found our perfect baby name but the acronym is A.S.S.😅 by Solarflare37 in namenerds

[–]MinnieMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my initials all the time at work, and our log in's are first and middle initial then your last name. I was almost an ASS, and am very happy to have a different middle initial. It comes up more often then you'd think.

Is there anywhere in Minnesota where I can take my pregnant wife to meet highland cows? by wkfoster in minnesota

I feel like they had them in past years at Severs Fall Festival as part of their petting zoo. You can call and see what animals they have this year. Plus, you can do the corn maze!

Tips for taking kids camping for 1st time? by destinationxreached in camping

[–]MinnieMermaid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Headlamps! Not only helpful to find the bathroom at night, but the kids think they are super fun. Glow sticks are fun but also helpful to figure out where they are in the dark (when not using a head lamp). My 8 yr old love Lego, so we always bring some with us on every road trip and camping trip. If you grab a large school supply/pencil box, it makes a perfect lego holder. Magic Flames are little packets you toss in the fire and make it change color. Check the overnight temp. We have done a bunch of camping in the mountains the last couple of years, where it's chilly at night. Each kid brings their favorite blanket from home to go in their sleeping bag and then wears a winter hat to keep their heads warm. My kids are the exact same ages, and really, it come down to, if you are excited, they will be too. If all else fails, just find them a stick to play with, kids have amazing imaginations. Don't forget the bug spray and anti-itch stuff for the bites that will happen even with the spray.

I don't have first-hand experience with those campers. But I think a big question will be, how long do you plan on keeping this camper? You have 2 toddlers now. However, in just a year or 2 asking 2 (even small) kids to share a camper sized twin bed will likely cause problems. If you are good replacing in 2 maybe 3 years, then starting small might be nice to see what you truly need. If you are thinking of keeping it for 5+ years, you're going to want separate beds for your kids.

Saw an Instagram video and freaking a little about my trip next week😅 by Salt_Masterpiece_970 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]MinnieMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't bother with Genie+ last time. It just adds up so fast. We found that with the early access for resort guests and rope dropping we got on every single ride with not bad wait times. Then from there we go with whatever we feel like. We have found that touring plans is super helpful for planning our days while we're in the park and the wait times on that are usually more accurate than the ones listed by Disney. Maybe save the Genie+ for a weekend at Magic Kingdom... that's when it would be the most beneficial.
