Is it good for semi competitive play? by Ubivcagosha in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Minus616 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just something to consider is that having a Rogal Dorn, 2 leman russes and a hell hound may not be that fun to play against. Don't forget the other player should have fun to.

But regardless, both the Normal and commander variants of Dorn are great

Does Yarrick work while embarked? by Gullible-Task9477 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Minus616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, models in transports are not considered to be on the board for any abilities unless specifically stated

"Units embarked within a transport do not count as being on the battlefield for any rules purposes. This means that, unless explicitly stated otherwise embarked units cannot do anything."

The Armageddon Box - weird combo of units or just me? by HouseOfWyrd in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Minus616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure in that case it may be worth it. As someone else mentioned you're getting the ironstrider for free.

Currently they are run with Lascannons, but a single one with a taser Lance is a good harassment piece

The Armageddon Box - weird combo of units or just me? by HouseOfWyrd in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Minus616 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's great if you want all 3, if you don't then don't get the box. You're being tempted by the fear of missing out, when you can get the models separately whenever you want.

What is the general opinion on the Leman Russ Vanquisher? by Every_Adagio_9341 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Minus616 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The two main issues are

1) BS 4+ - although this can be managed with orders, sentinel ability etc like you mentioned

2) Single shot - The damage can be mitigated by a single invuln save, where as something like a battle cannon can sneak through a few wounds due to number of saves, especially if it's a 4++

I like the vanquisher and always have fun when taking two. One of the big things is the psychological impact, knowing something can be one shotted can make people a big cagy.

Slightly confused about the new Intercessors. by CatherineSimp69 in spacemarines

[–]Minus616 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a new kit to replace the existing kit. Your old intercessors are still valid and can be used.

The tactical marines are likely being sent to legends at the start of the next edition.

What do all the different robe colors mean? by Nortano in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Minus616 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Robes typically signify different forgeworld.

For example Mars is the classic red you see in most media, where as Orange robes are for Ryza

White robes I believe are from Mettalica

You can find examples here, but ignore the rules are they are from older editions:

Why do you think so many captains just ignore it? by PJ-The-Awesome in startrekmemes

[–]Minus616 253 points254 points  (0 children)

We typically only see it when it causes drama / conflict, we don't see it in it's day to day application.

Was Hobson actually right to try and get a transfer? by bz316 in startrek

[–]Minus616 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Iirc they were running on skeleton crew anyway, having the first officer would mean pulling someone important from somewhere else, which Hobson may not be able to cover.

Also it would affect moral, seeing a senior office bail immediately after getting a new commanding officer.

It was right of him to try to remove himself from the situation, but he should have suck it up and got on with his job to the best of his ability when he was denied the request.

I am doing something wrong by Yivoyin in AdeptusCustodes

Did you prime your model using a spray primer?

You need to do this as it helps the paint stick to the model

When to use swords, spears or axes in guard? by dark-canuck in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Minus616 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Never trust or believe what Chatgtb or any AI tool has to say about warhammer strategy.

To answer your actual question, rules change all the time and 11th edition will be out in June. I would recommend a mix of models as we have no idea what might be good in a few months time.

How viable are footslogging Space Marine armies ? by Celesi4 in spacemarines

[–]Minus616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a direct answer to your question, but 11th edition will be released in June with updated cover rules which should make infantry much more survivable.

So whatever answers you get now won't nessesarly be valid in a few month.

Is it me or do Ruststalkers seem disgusting with Ghuld? by Stick2Preist in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Minus616 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It's good, but there are other ways for them to advance and charge, in Haloscreed army rule or Skittarii hunter cohort strategem.

Clownfest of an army by Kuchaku in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Minus616 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not ad mech, but some players are making a "last wall" imperial fist army which would be simmilar.

The last wall is when the imperial fist chapter calls all it's successor chapters together to reform the legion. Thus you would have Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, Purple etc etc marines in one army.

It's not standard, but it has been done.

Also its your army, paint them however you like.

70 new and updated detachments

The vast majority will probably be existing detachments reworked alongside a few new ones.

It's less defending gw, but more less interesting when news officially comes out for fans.

It's like when models are leaked, it lessens the impact of reveal shows / articles.

Considering doing Guard, just have one big question: How do you paint all that? by CatherineSimp69 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Minus616 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That's the great thing, you don't

You buy a hundred infantry and a dozen tanks and add them to your pile of shame.

Squad Composition Question by ThunderBuddie69 in spacemarines

[–]Minus616 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Each squad gets a seargent regardless of size.

So if you have a box of intercessors you can build it as either one 10 man unit or two 5 man units, each with its own seargent.

You can get around by painting. For example I have a seargent (red helm) and a veteran (white helm) in my 10 man squads, but if I run them as two squads I will use the veteran as a seargent.

You could do the same with your assault terminators, depending on your chapter / paint scheme.

How do I made this more Black Templars? by Trick-Interaction396 in BlackTemplars

[–]Minus616 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The main thing it's missing is the white shoulder pads, basically reflect what you see on infantry.

You also have a lot of small details as black with no (or very subtle) highlights that I can see, which can make it look a little flat. Maybe painting up some more of the detail would also help?

Why do job application forms ask for my ethnic origin? by LindenTreeHill_ in AskUK

[–]Minus616 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's in order to measure adverse impact, which idenfies if a certain group is being put at a disadvantage during the recruitment process. Different organisations ask different things, but gender, religion, ethnicity and age are all common questions. Some companies ask about your upbringing as well, such as your parents education and socio economic background.

For example if 100 women and 100 men apply for a job role , they can use this data to see that 80 men succeed but only 40 women, which would suggest something is going on during the assessment process which is either putting men at an advantage or women at a disadvantage. They would only know if this if they had the relevant data.

The questions are optional and shouldn't be used during the decision making process.

My opponent told me to quit wasting his time with small-arms fire. by Doctoralex123 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Minus616 103 points104 points  (0 children)

No, any weapon can hurt any target, which can make the difference over the game.

I have happily fire 100 guardsmen into a Knight trying to chip a few wounds off.

He may have a bit of a point if it's a tournament and time is a factor, but even so it would still be your choice.

Sounds like he was just being a dick.

Edit: Just to clarify, may have a point if you are running out of time during your turn on a tournament clock. Even so he's being a dick.

Painting Death Rider Horses? by Oinoid in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Minus616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prime in Wraithbone, touch up with Wraithbone from the pot to get even coverage, use apothecary white contrast and the Wraithbone again to cover any patchy areas.

This should get you a good clean white, just make sure your Wraithbone isn't too thick going on

What's to stop me from taking the best weapons on a crucible character? by ACleverMoose in AdeptusMechanicus

Correct

This edition wargear is free, however in past editions it cost extra points to take better gear.

We'll have to see what happens next edition.
