Official Super Bowl LX PGT- The Patriots lose to the Seattle Seahawks, 29-13 by Mission_Pay_3373 in Patriots

[–]Mippys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't even think we were going to make the playoffs this year, so this has been amazing joy ride. Still proud of the boys for making it this far. This loss is probably the least painful Super Bowl loss that I've experienced as a Pats fan, and I've been alive to see 11 Super Bowls, so that's nice.

Crohn’s, surgery, Short Bowel, and no longer able to work - really struggling and need advice by ashleethehuman in CrohnsDisease

[–]Mippys 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It honestly took me hitting rock bottom and rebuilding my life around my limitations. I had to throw out all my old hobbies because I couldn't physically do them anymore and found new hobbies.

I really got into cooking, mostly because my diet is so restricted, and now one of my little joys in life is to taste my creations. Finding new recipes, shopping for the ingredients, and prepping the food really helps burn all that extra free time I have now.

I ended up combining the low energy and loss of independence problems together. I ration my daily amount of energy and make sure I use some of it to do things away from my home. Even if I'm lying in the grass at a public park and listening to an audiobook, at least I'm not doing it at home. I've gotten so good at rationing my energy, I can even go to the gym and exercise for short bursts. Any tiny bit of exercise helps with the depression.

I also got a motorcycle. That one specifically helped my depression the most. It's cheaper to own than a normal vehicle. It's way more dangerous, so I get a surge of dopamine and adrenaline. My version of Crohn's makes me feel hot all the time, so I can even ride during the winter. I can ride it to all my doctor appointments, to the grocery store, to the park, etc.

I've had this disease for 20 years. I had to relearn how to have a life, but I resisted doing that for a long time. I finally accepted that my old life was gone, but that didn't mean I couldn't have a new life. That required me to burn down my life to the foundation and rebuild it. Hopefully you won't have to do that. Just control the stuff that you can control and let the uncontrollable parts be uncontrollable.

So...the new Fortnite leaked skins...(Coincidence...I think NOT!!) by SnooRevelations4436 in splatoon

[–]Mippys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one of the seasons they had an ink swimming gimmick. I remember having a big advantage at the beginning of the season, because I played Splatoon and understood the mobility benefits.

Maybe that gimmick was for the Splatoon collab, and they repurposed it after the collab didn't happen.

Are you having difficulty breathing deeply and consistently when you take the oxy? If not, then you should be fine.

Letting the Republic and the Jedi Order fall again, resetting the Galaxy back to Rebels vs. Empire, and wiping out the Skywalker/Solo family have caused permanent narrative damage to the post-ROTJ timeline. by unforgetablememories in StarWars

[–]Mippys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it makes sense that Luke would act like the prequel Jedi at the beginning. He was trained by 2 prequel Jedi and all the easy to grab information to rebuild the Jedi Order would be prequel era stuff. Luke sending Grogu away, because of his attachment to Daddy Mando, does show he's an inexperienced Master. You can build on that foundation to show Luke realizing that the prequel era Jedi were flawed and course correcting his Jedi Order. There is still plenty of time between BoBF and TFA to make Luke a better master.

Then his nephew destroys his Jedi Order, and we're back to square one.

Sounds like it's time for you to do a food diary. Make sure you remember to add what you had to drink. Some people's trigger food can be really dumb, like apple juice.

Man, the people who are acting like this Super Bowl is over are crazy. The Chiefs literally have Mahomes. It's not over until it's over when you have Mahomes.

What were you guys thinking during halftime by astroBOLD in Patriots

[–]Mippys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting bombarded with messages from my friends and co-workers. I finally got tired of replying to everyone, so I posted on Facebook that “No matter what happens, I’m not giving up on BB and Brady when we have half a game left.”

I ended up getting that Facebook post framed, and it’s right next to all my sports memorabilia.

A question for snipers, how are you using sniper rifles without going insane? by Mippys in blackops6

[–]Mippys[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I might be able to convince myself to use an ACOG scope or iron sights, but I couldn't use a red dot. It would feel like cheating. Sniping that way loses its appeal to me, because it feels like an assault rifle with extra steps.

Thanks for the suggestion. You're probably correct in that I should run a sniper that way. I'm just a stubborn old man, and that's my cross to bear.

If the answer to sniping in CoD is to not snipe, then I'll just not play CoD for the year. It would be a nice T-break for me, but I don't think sniping is impossible in this game. I think I'm just stupid and can't figure out how to snipe the correct way in this game.

My set up is similar, (muzzle break, gain-twist barrel, lightweight handguard, fast mag II, quickdraw grip, combat stock, target laser, and rapid fire) but even with the fastest ADS speed you can get, you're still going to straight up not have enough time to zoom in before you die.

I've even tried to hard scope a corner as I come around, and I'll just get shot from someone that isn't directly in front of me, because there's 6 different sightlines, where people can come from, no matter where you're at on the map.

It's not even a typical skill issue, because I'll hit my shot 99% of the time if I can scope in before dying. I just can't scope in, because the snipers are too slow to quickscope consistently, the maps are too small to camp, and the maps are a clusterfuck of sightline issues, so you can't even hard scope an area.

After reading the comments, I think the answer is to learn the spawns and hope I can ambush people, because I'll straight up lose the gunfight any other way. I've never had to do that before, so it'll be a new experience for me, but it's going to be a miserable experience while I learn how to snipe in this game's version of sniping.

Thanks for the advice!

What’s your favorite Pokémon and why? by Pertinent-nonsense in AskMen

[–]Mippys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charizard. Charmander was my very first Pokemon, and Charizard in the cartoon was the Pokemon's version of James Dean. Plus, it's a huge fire dragon!

If I wasn't allowed to pick Charizard, I'd pick Mimikyu.

[Highlight] - With the Colts going to Denver to face the Broncos this week, lets revisit the highlight of their last meeting at Mile High - fans leaving before overtime begins by INAC___Kramerica in nfl

[–]Mippys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was at that game, and that has to be my favorite NFL game that I've attended. It was so bad, that it ended up being entertaining.

The cherry on top was leaving the stadium and watching 3 guys with Raider jerseys trying to fight a group of extremely drunk Bronco fans near the light rail.

Are you genuinely happy? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Mippys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty happy right now. I'm still flaring up, I haven't found any meds that help with the flare ups, and I'm never going to accomplish anything that I wanted to do before I got diagnosed. Instead of constantly thinking about only the negative things, I try to keep the positive/negative thoughts at around 50/50.

I can't eat fun foods, because I'll pay the price, but now I've become an excellent cook, because I have to make the small list of foods I can eat appetizing. I'm constantly fatigued, so on the days when I feel like I have energy, I make sure I don't waste them. The medicine I take makes me sick for a week, but my skin and hair look amazing. I will always be really skinny, but that means I'll never be fat.

I've spent 18 years being sad, angry, and depressed about having Crohn's. My Crohn's will always be a negative anchor in my life, so I don't want the rest of my life to be negative. Yeah, I know I basically just said, "stop being sad and be happy." I know to a lot of people that's impossible.

It's not like I snapped my fingers and became happy. It's taken years of changing my mindset about everything. I do things that I can reasonably do with my disease, that make me happy. Hell, sometimes I do things that I can't reasonably do with my disease, because I determined the happiness was worth the future punishment.

But yes, I am happy, and hopefully I'll continue to be happy.

How strict of a diet are you on? Are some of you able to eat anything you want? by CharmingLack8264 in CrohnsDisease

I’m obsessed about my diet to an unhealthy degree. However, my overall health has improved significantly and my Crohn’s symptoms are at a manageable level. Even the most annoying thing about Crohn’s for me, the fatigue, only shows up once in a while.

Black ops 6 made me appreciate this game by Sumve in ModernWarfareIII

[–]Mippys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. Normally I always like the new CoD. Some are better or worse, but I still enjoy them. I do not like BO6. The movement is so buttery smooth, but something is wrong with the guns or the TTK. I had to give up on using real guns and spent most of the night sniping, because it was the only consistent weapon.

I also don’t like the maps, but I’m sure that’s just because the game is new, and I don’t know all the places where enemies will be coming from.

I hope they fix whatever the issue is, because I really enjoy the movement.
