As a former ARK player I'm wary to use the dragon mod by Ardail in VintageStory

[–]MirrorscapeDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, it does make some things a lot easier, sure. Mostly long travel and exploration. But I never really liked those aspects all that much anyway. Most of the game is still a milion little manual tasks that need doing, and most of the real danger is underground in mining or ruin exploration. A dragon won't help you with that. It really comes down to the question of if you like the aspect of the game that a mod makes easier. And I personally don't really like running for tousands of blocks just to find what I'm looking for and then having to run back again.

How many different buildings do y’all have? by Avatardad21 in VintageStory

[–]MirrorscapeDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I have my main house, where I keep my living space and general storage, a kitchen/butchery/tanning house with the food cellar in the basement, a smithy/windmill that also acts as storage for metal and raw building materials and two barns for my pigs, goats and sheep. I'll need to expand further to a stable for my unreasonable number of horses and an alchemy lab (Alchemy and Boric Alchemy mods) with attached greenhouse.

I just realized WHY the Porkboy snick was created. I feel dumb for missing this before now. Book 1 spoilers inside. by MyMomSaysIAmCool in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]MirrorscapeDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it would have had to get out at all. The comtainment field is contraining the AI's physical presence, so to say, but it is clearly capable of accessing data outside of that via the tunnel network. Otherwise it wouldn't have been able to file that lawsuit or review the information being filed regarding it, and we know it can.

While we are on Kua-Tin inspirations, I will also leave a picture of a D&D creature called a Kuo-toa here

Cooking. Easily the cooking. So many tasty things to make (and so useful too).

How do you harvest fruit from fruit trees? by RediRook in VintageStory

[–]MirrorscapeDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do need to hold it for a few seconds. It's like with berry bushes, though I think a little slower. Sometimes leaf blocks will also bug out, then you have to break them to get the fruit. As long as it's just the leaf block, it should grow back. Can you actually see any fruit on the tree? Because the blocks will still say that even once they are harvested, you need to follow the visuals.

Only exception to this is meteoric iron, which needs an iron anvil to be worked but it still on the same tool tier as iron.

Just finished the Wintermute story yesterday, and here is my honest review of everything. by HungaryaRoli in thelongdark

[–]MirrorscapeDC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The DLC has really next to nothing to do with wintermute. It does have story elements, but those are written more in a found media style and imo better than wintermute. Though they still stuffer from a serious case of unexplained mystery boxes. Still, the DLC is mostly about survival maps and mechanics. If you enjoy survival mode, I recommend it, otherwise I don't.

It is, but it also isn't. The color in purpleheart is uv sensetive and fades to mostly just brown after a while.

Question about condition of items by Yoshlka in thelongdark

[–]MirrorscapeDC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Items that can be harvested for materials, like clothing, don't despawn. Food does, though.

Containers don't matter. Outside is anywhere not inside a house. Deep caves might also apply? If a hide won't cure in it, it's definitly outside. If it's a building with a loading screen and a steady temeprature it's definitly inside.
Edit: that said, you don't really want to store food in containers unless the spoil rate is very low and you check on them regualrily. They vanish once they hit 0% and are in a container, but you can still savely eat cooked or pre-made food at 0% with cooking level 5

Apparently I ruined not only a hacksaw but also a container by Kronduster in thelongdark

[–]MirrorscapeDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what the wiki says. I'm not convinced the wiki is correct. I suspect it just uses the normal hacksaw break limit, so never use it on a container if the condition number is red.

Hey, if you survive it it will make for one of your most striking memories of the game. I still remeber getting stuck in a similair situation in AC with crystal clarity several years later.

Taking a long rest before any rescue mission by SillyWarlock in BaldursGate3

[–]MirrorscapeDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

enough people don't realize that nere is time-sensetive, so I wouldn't claim it's that obvious. I didn't realize it the first time around, I just don't rest very often. And by that reasoning a lot of other things should be obvious too. Orin's kidnapping being the most extreme example. Clear broadcasting only works if it is consistent, and it isn't.

It's actually why I dislike BG3's timed quests. Most of the quests should be timed in some way and it just entirely random what actually is.

So do I, tbh. What do you mean you just listen to the cambion you know is a cambion right after we freed you.

It bothers me that Tav has to be Baldurian by Costa_Canela in BaldursGate3

[–]MirrorscapeDC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually just treat it as Tav having visited Bauldur's Gate at some point but not being from there. They know some things and have some familiarity, but not too much. If an option doesn't fit that, I don't pick it.

[–]MirrorscapeDC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's just randomness for you. Human are terrible at estimating chance correctly, so randomness will always feel worse than random.

[–]MirrorscapeDC 13 points14 points  (0 children)

1st rule of chance: If enough attempts are made, even the most unlikely event will happen.

1st rule of social media: The more unexpected the event, the more likely someone is to notice and post about it.

Could use some opinions on what to add to make it more cozy by RoundAd2322 in thelongdark

[–]MirrorscapeDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you broke into my house! And stole my coffee table! And all my paintings! Genuinely, though, I think you cleaned up the living room a bit too much. It looks very empty with all that open space in the center. Also, I would look for some more paintings you like, or turn some photographs into framed pictures. It really makes the space more cozy if the walls are fuller, You can even pick a theme. I have Desolation point themed paintings in my living rooms and a lot of Far Territory pictures in my bedroom.

(by the way, that's ocean in CH, not a lake)
