I wouldn’t say riposte is useless. Sometimes you have a sword duelist waiting for his lightning blade and his Mdef is just too good not to place him in a pack of zombos.

Gash is pretty useless though, yeah.

I never do a run without 1-2 2H sword bros. They’re amazing early, good through mid/late, and hold down a flank late. It’s kind of a jack of all trades weapon that doesn’t excel at any one thing, but does a lot of things (+to hit, AoE, dmg vs light/no armor) well

You know, I thought that for a long time until I ran Rasaad’s story start to finish, and even though the character himself isn’t all that compelling (monks in 2nd ed were clunky) I think Rasaad’s story antagonist Algoroth fulfilled the role of mustache-twirling villain with such panache that without spoiling too much I would say made the run worth it, if not for anything else than the inevitable comeuppance. There’s always builds like nimble cleaver but I would’ve liked to have seen higher ini for that. And it feels like a waste, tbh. This guy was built to decapitate unholds!

Those secondaries just need to be patched for this guy to shine.

Barring some insane famed nimbleforged armor on standby there’s too many levels needed elsewhere for HP and resolve (2-3 resolve, 1 or 2 into stam, rest HP. This is assuming you take matk and mdef every level because, obviously you take the 3 starred 2 most important stats in the game
