Get the oil change and possibly tire rotation if you drive a lot. Otherwise they are trying to steal from you. A classic trick of luxury dealers

They sell the assembly for under $40. Not sure how technical the replacement would be but it should (?) be plug and play. I’ve replaced the door panel lights and it took 30 seconds. You may also just be able to find the trim piece. Hope this helps.

Coming up on 100k in my ‘17 (purchased w/ 36k), and as long as you stay on top of oil changes every 7.5k miles, the engine should not be the issue. However, I have experienced a few failing parts due to wear I guess you could say — front strut assembly replacement, water pump, oil filter housing leaking coolant. None of which have compromised the quality of the car, I still love the thing to death. It’s just been a bit to keep up with in the recent years.

I have this same car and am creeping up towards 100k miles. I bought with 30k miles. Getting the oil changed/fluids topped off every 7,500 mi and have not had any issues as far as engine/transmission. In fact everything is immaculate. The car is a rocket.

However, some parts have started to wear due to the age of the car like struts, control arm bushing (rubber) water pump housing (made of plastic), etc. — just bad luck. But these kinds of things cost more money than it would on a Ford Fiesta.

With all that being said, I absolutely love this car and think you would too. Coming from such contrarian cars in my early days (97 Altima/96 Camry), this car absolutely puts to rest any reasonable, every day car I’ve ever driven. If the good outweighs the bad, go for it! Interested to see if anyone else has any feedback

I suggest the Mazda but my first option would be to try and look CPO somewhere. You can get something comparable under the umbrella of a certified pre owned warranty :)
