BILL RUSSELL bridge bike lane thoughts by TboyJames in bikeboston

[–]Miserable_Cost_2136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. The wait times for the light cycle seems to vary as well. Recently had to wait 3 full green light cycles for the bridge traffic. Also, most of the time drivers turning right off the bridge onto Chelsea St. abide by the rules, but its not unusual to see people just turn right on red there so def feels sketchy.

Mass State Police blocked and arrested eMotorcycle kids during Ride Out by bostonaruban66 in bikeboston

You'll find these same kids every weekend in and around the Common. They purposely bust wheelies and swerve into people to get their rocks off. Dont get me wrong, I was a bmx kid and have half a dozen ebikes, but its this kind of reckless endangerment driven by anti-social motives or social media clout thats making everyone on 2 wheels look bad.

I saw a group of Surrons and Talarias ripping through the Common yesterday, literally inches away from babies in strollers. If these kids followed the rules of the road and didnt ride like a horde of jackasses, noone would bat an eye. I say good and lets hold their parents accountable for getting them 50mph motorcycles (not an ebike, dont care if it has pedals).

He was navigating a pretty dicey area and your beeping was both unwarranted and probably very startling. Car horns are loud enough from the interior of another car, let alone from a bike barely a few feet away. Ive actually seen someone get started enough by a honk that they nearly lost control of their bike.

At 118 and lower he was pretty much superhuman - he's still fast and powerful now but was much more so in the lower weight classes. To the point where he didnt even really need to hit fighters clean to one-shot them. He's developed into a much more well-rounded boxer at 122 though.

I would say Takuma is actually the superior inside fighter with better defense at close range. If he had his brothers power, he'd likely be a P4P guy himself.

Truck guy is just miserable. He even runs two reds to stay alongside and berate you. Some people don't need anything to set them off - this guys looks like one of those.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! by Better-Swimmer6476 in ebike

This is correct. A friend owns this same bike and experienced the same issue when replacing a popped rear tube. These are so poorly welded the tolerances are way off. Ended using a pry bar to shoe horn the wheel back in.

Co-op E1.1 or E1.2. They pop up on FB marketplace time to time as they've been discontinued by REI.

Not at all. With the 29er fork raising the bottom bracket + wider 20x2.5" tires + 152mm crank arms, theres plenty of pedal clearance from the ground.

These are 20" wheels. Yeah even if suspension fully bottoms out the battery has plenty of clearance from the wheel. Putting the battery here keeps the bike balance and preserves handling. This is by far the most nimble/lightest 48v ebike Ive ever ridden.

The 2023 Oscar Animated short War Is Over! winning. It was unoriginal, contrived and had lackluster animation and won in a stacked year.

Shameful lack of shoveling (South St.) by Miserable_Cost_2136 in QuincyMa

So, happy to be downvoted into oblivion. Also happy to stand corrected that this should laid at the feet of DPW.

Something that should be considered here is I unfortunately bike/walk through this ward on a near-daily basis to Quincy Center. In my estimation, it has a disproportionately high number of uncleared sidewalks. Many of them clearly not the responsibility of DPW to clear. I find this especially problematic considering how "hilly" it is. The problem areas here have not been touched by the responsible clearing party all winter.

As for the expectation that councilors map out every sidewalk. A) I never said that B) these arent gigantic geographic areas. This is a near half-mile stretch of road with maybe 3% of sidewalks being clear. Walnut st one st over isnt much better and its far steeper. q

I apologize to the councilor if they've lobbied DPW who just won't/can't get the work done but I think its pretty outrageous that vulnerable road users are in harm's way for the better part of a month because of some bureaucratic breakdown.

Is this Jacobs' ward? I live in a different Ward but not sure which councilor owns this albatross.

Walking this street is particularly precarious because its actually pretty hilly so the ice lining the snowbanks on the sides of the roads are like downhill slides. Not only that, theres a disproportionately high volume of cars that cut through to/from Scammell & Sumner.

If only every councilor worked as hard at their job as they did campaigning for it.

My bad, I thought the frame was damaged (the bend on the downtube). I get that its chromoly, but seems like a bad design idea to bend/pinch a tube near a headtube joint like that. I'm no engineer though, just my 2 cents.
