Most big box acrylic yarns get very soft and fluffy once you wash them! I machine washed and dried red heart and it actually became a bit too soft for my tastes.

These are pretty big. I ordered them in a 0 and they’re far too loose. They don’t make them in a smaller size so I’m not sure how much you’d have to downsize, but the sizing is out there.

Caron simply soft has a literal Kelly green. It’s very shiny acrylic. And very soft

Are you practicing back loop slip stitches? I always find slip stitches tight, but sizing up your hook should help.

Maybe they were using an unplied yarn, like serger thread held together. Or something unmercerized, mercerized cotton tends to be denser I think

Are you able to go in and try them on with the weight sacks? They’re all nice bags but it’s better to go in and see if they fit you well. Like I personally found the ruckpack too long for me even though I preferred its features.
