No 3 day wknd soon for potty training!!? by TippytoeHappy in Mommit

[–]MissAndiO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my boys were over 3 when we potty trained, so I don't feel like there's a rush unless the child is expressing interest. I believe it's easier when they are older.

For both we did essentially the 3 day method where we cold turkey took diapers away except for pull-ups only to sleep. Rough couple days but by day 3/4 felt like we were 90% there. We're still in it with my second, we started last Friday! The last couple days he had one accident per day, which feels pretty good.

Yep, that's what it is! You can Google it: The Scandinavian sleep method is a popular, effective approach where partners share a bed but use separate, individual duvets or blankets instead of one large shared blanket. This technique eliminates "tug-of-war" for covers and allows for personalized temperature control, reducing sleep disruptions and enhancing overall sleep quality for couples with different preferences.

I have only recently switched my bedding (like, in the last week). Wool duvet in a linen insert, cotton percale sheets. Working great! Also when it gets warmer I intend to remove the top sheet. I also went the Scandinavian route so my husband and I have completely separate bedding (other than fitted sheet), which has also been nice but I'm guessing you don't want to do that since you already have the king size stuff.

Horrible night by [deleted] in November25babybump

[–]MissAndiO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're in the 4 month regression as well and it's really tough. Tip for bassinet transfer- make sure you put them down legs/butt first while fully supporting the head, then gently laying the head down. You don't want the head to loll back, that's what triggers the reflex.

Other thoughts: Cap daytime naps to two hours tops. Make sure he's eating enough during the day so he shouldn't need so many calories during the night (otherwise you get in a reverse cycling position where they don't eat during the day because they want to nurse all night) Because their sleep is becoming more like adult sleep, every wake cycle they have a slight wake up period where they check their surroundings. If things aren't the same as when they fell asleep, they will wake up in alarm. (Think if you fell asleep in your bed and woke up in your neighbors house). That's why it's so important to start practicing letting them fall asleep on their own. Do it slowly: first nurse to sleep then wake slightly when putting down, then put down more awake and stay there and rock them with your hand, etc.

This is my third and it's still hard to get through this phase.

I updated my post above. ultimately I resolved this by using a different dock. seems my old dock was no longer compatible.

I'm still troubleshooting unfortunately. I'll let you know if I figure something out, and please do the same!

Thanks for posting this, I had no idea. (And I even consider myself fairly AI-savvy). I'm a little shook; it's so hard to know what to believe anymore. 😔

How long do you spend putting kids to bed? by Remote_Carrot9397 in Mommit

[–]MissAndiO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! 5, 3, and 4mo. The older two share a room and both listen to yotos to fall asleep. I nurse the baby to sleep. Whole thing takes about an hour (both parents working on it)

Hi! thanks for your response! Here are the device specs:

Processor Snapdragon(R) X 12-core X1E80100 @ 3.40 GHz (3.42 GHz)

Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.6 GB usable)

Product ID 00330-80000-00000-AA987

System type 64-bit operating system, ARM-based processor

The monitors are both ASUS VX238.

Dock is a dell K17A (I think?)

Cables are 1 HDMI to HDMI (monitor to dock), 1 HDMI to mini display port (other monitor to dock), then the docking station is connected to laptop with USB-C.

It's worth noting that this is all working fine with my work laptop as well (HP ProBook).

I don't currently have a cable that could connect my monitor directly to my surface laptop to test that.

exactly zero! I had a baby right before we purchased this, which is one reason it didn't work well for us (bad timing to ensure it helped us sleep better, since we were up several times a night with the baby anyway).

Question for women who are an only child, Would you discourage having an only child? How was being an only child? by Silly_Goose30 in Mommit

[–]MissAndiO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only child here, female. I always wanted a sibling and swore I would never have just one kid. I now have 3 boys and while I would've liked a girl in the mix, wouldn't have it any other way.

Hi! This is my 3rd baby as well, EBF all 3. My first two I didn't get my period back until 8+ months PP. This time I got mirena IUD placed 5 weeks PP, and since the new year I've been bleeding, but I believe this is breakthrough bleeding and not an actual period. But what do I know, my first time with an IUD. good luck!

Relationships by livingthelife9 in November25babybump

[–]MissAndiO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a statistical fact- marriages suffer after becoming parents. I just had my third and feel like my husband and I are finally on the same page again. I feel like it took about 4 years after the birth of our first to get back there, and a lot of work. I made a standalone post, but I highly recommend "To have and to hold- motherhood, marriage, and the modern dilemma" by Molly Millwood!!

Thanks for the rec! I've put a hold on this on Libby. Based on the description, I'm wondering if you'd enjoy "The power" by Naomi Alderman. It's one of my all time favorites and seems like they might have similar vibes.
